Abstract

Perineal wound occurs because of a tear in birth canal or because of an episiotomy during childbirth. Slow healing of perineal wound can increase the risk of infection, so nutritional intake is needed, especially proteins that support new cell growth. This study utilized a Quasi-Experimental method with type of posstest-only control group design. Population in this study was postpartum mothers, with a total sample of 40 people taken by total sampling technique. Results showed that mean value in control group was 6.9, while mean value in intervention group was 4.8. Additionally, Mann-Whitney U test results obtained p = 0.000. In conclusion, there is an average difference in perineal wound healing between intervention and control groups, and there is an effect of giving cork fish extract (Channa striata) to perineal wound. It is expected that researchers can share this knowledge with postpartum mothers so that they consume cork fish extract as a therapy to accelerate perineal wound healing

Abstract

Menopause and premenopause are natural transition phases experienced by women with significant hormonal changes. This condition is often accompanied by symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, mood swings, and an increased risk of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. This community service program aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and solutions in dealing with hormonal disorders in premenopausal and menopausal women through educational approaches, non-pharmacological therapies (complementary therapies), and lifestyle changes. The methods used in this activity are the preparation and submission of proposals, counselling, questions and answers, evaluations and door prizes. The materials provided include health seminars, healthy lifestyle training, and medical consultations involving health professionals. The results of the program showed that participants had increased knowledge about menopause and how to cope with hormonal changes in non-pharmacological ways (complementary therapy). In conclusion, multidisciplinary approaches in complementary lifestyle and parenting education and interventions can help women better manage menopausal symptoms, improve quality of life, and reduce the negative impact of hormonal changes that occur. Therefore, it is important to continue to develop similar programs to help more women cope with this transition optimally.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth and development in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, resulting in a child being too short for their age. Nutritional deficiencies begin during pregnancy and in the early postnatal period; however, the signs of stunting typically become apparent after the child reaches two years of age. Stunting has a significant impact on the quality of human resources. In the short term, it affects brain development, intelligence, physical growth, and metabolism. In the long term, it leads to decreased cognitive abilities, weakened immune function, increased risk of metabolic diseases, and learning difficulties. Stunting prevention is currently one of the government's main priorities. In addition to education about stunting, another preventive measure is the optimization of animal protein intake, such as through the consumption of mackerel. Mackerel is a locally available, highly nutritious fish. This community service program aims to raise public awareness about the importance of animal protein consumption in the prevention of stunting. With improved understanding, it is expected that communities will be able to meet daily protein needs, especially for infants and young children. To raise awareness and promote behavioral change in the community, particularly in fostering the habit of consuming animal-based protein as a strategy to prevent stunting. The intervention involved educational sessions about stunting, the introduction of the “Gemakan Kemuning” campaign an initiative promoting mackerel consumption to combat stunting, video demonstrations on mackerel-based food preparation, and the distribution of mackerel-based food products. The activity was conducted on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at community health centre Kemuning 3, Bogor Regency, and was attended by 35 mothers with infants or toddlers. The program encompassed preparation, implementation, and evaluation phases. Educational content included definitions, causes, symptoms, impacts, prevention, and management of stunting. The program was successfully implemented. It is recommended that similar initiatives be continued and expanded by other healthcare professionals so that communities can better understand how to prevent and manage stunting, including by increasing their consumption of animal protein sources such as mackerel.

Abstract

Anemia frequently manifests in pregnant women as a consequence of alterations in the cardiovascular system, leading to hemodilution and a subsequent decline in blood oxygen levels. The augmented iron demands during pregnancy arise from the needs of the fetus and placenta, coupled with physiological shifts like heightened blood volume and red blood cell count. This elevation in levels may contribute to diminished hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, consequently escalating the prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency during pregnancy. A viable solution for averting anemia in pregnant women involves the consumption of fruits rich in iron and vitamin C, such as dragon fruit, crucial for hemoglobin synthesis. The research method employed in this study followed a quantitative approach, specifically utilizing quasi-experimental research with a pretest-post-test design, including a control group. The study population comprised all pregnant women attending TPMB N Depok, West Java, during October-December 2023. Inclusion criteria involved pregnant women aged 16-34 weeks who visited TPMB N and exhibited signs of anemia. The study sample consisted of pregnant women willing to consume 200 cc of dragon fruit juice daily for a duration of 14 days. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney Test. The intervention implemented involved administering dragon fruit juice, prepared by blending 200g of dragon fruit with 200cc of water and adding 3 tablespoons of sugar. The findings reveal a statistically significant difference in Hb levels among pregnant women before and after the consumption of dragon fruit juice, with a P value of 0.001.
