Abstract

This Community Service is aimed at the youth category for Bible study activities. In the pandemic era since the end of February 2020, various activities in the realm of stewardship must also participate in government recommendations as part of breaking the chain of coronavirus transmission. Therefore, online media is used to create youth coaching by selecting the zoom application in its implementation. The coaching method starts with planning, implementing, finding partners for cooperation, and implementing activities. Of course, it ends with an evaluation of the activities. The Bible study model used this time is reading the Bible from the narrative genre. The community service team found great passion in youth while participating in Bible study coaching using the Bible Digging Method (BGA). The method was felt to be simple, practical, and able to bring Bible readers to find text messages. The implementation of community service must be carried out and pursued even in a pandemic situation. Youth spirituality is very important to build their future. The Word of God is a powerful material for developing youth spirituality, for a fresh, strong, and alert spiritual life

Abstract

The Apocalyptic genre is one genre that is difficult to understand because of its long intricacies and requires accuracy. One reason for the difficulty in interpreting the apocalyptic genre is the use of symbols that are not uncommon for today's readers. The use of symbols is very close to the speaker and, the first reader. The Book of Daniel is identical to the many uses of the symbolic language of the two Apocalyptic genre Books in the Bible. Readers increasingly need to be careful and careful when classifying symbol languages because there are differences in the use of symbols and language of descriptions. This paper was prepared by searching the literature with a qualitative approach. With the support of data from journal articles and cognate books, the research achieved the expected goals. The discussion begins by describing the apocalyptic genre based on literal facts. Then examine the uses of symbols, images, and others and the need for the interpreter's humility when trying to interpret this genre, especially in the use of symbolic language. The results show that many parts can be understood by following the rules of interpretation of the apocalyptic genre in the use of symbolic language. But some parts are precisely still a mystery to the reader as sealing of their meaning.AbstrakGenre Apokaliptik termasuk salah satu genre yang sulit untuk dipahami karena seluk-beluk yang panjang dan memerlukan ketelitian. Salah satu penyebab sulitnya menafsir genre apokaliptik yakni pemakaian simbol-simbol yang tidak lazim bagi pembaca masa kini. Pemakaian simbol-simbol sangat dekat bagi penutur dan pembaca pertamanya. Kitab Daniel identik dengan banyaknya pemakaian bahasa simbol dari dua Kitab genre apokaliptik dalam Alkitab. Pembaca semakin perlu berhati-hati dan teliti ketika mengelompokkan bahasa-bahasa simbol karena terdapat perbedaan penggunaan simbol dan bahasa penggambaran. Tulisan ini disusun dengan penelusuran kepustakaan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Dengan dukungan data dari artikel jurnal dan buku-buku serumpun maka penelitian mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan. Pembahasan dimulai dengan memaparkan genre apokaliptik berdasar fakta-fakta literal. Kemudian menelisik penggunaan simbol, gambar dan yang lain serta perlunya kerendahan hati penafsir ketika mencoba menafsirkan genre ini khususnya dalam penggunaan bahasa simbol. Hasilnya menunjukkan banyak bagian yang dapat dipahami dengan mengikuti kaidah penafsiran bagi genre apokaliptik dalam pemakaian bahasa simbol. Namun ada bagian-bagian yang justru masih menjadi misteri bagi pembacanya sebagai penyegelan terhadap maknanya.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find the attitude of the church in responding to the practical politics around the church. Because it leads the church to determine its position in siding with one party or one particular candidate. Or the church is just a spectator in the democratic party at the National, Provincial, and maybe Regency/City levels. The research uses a qualitative approach by searching literature and field facts where the church responds to the phenomenon of democracy, especially in Indonesia. The results of the study show the importance of the church in educating its members about the rights and obligations as voice owners in a democratic system. The church should take on a role as an educator on the practice of democracy that is clean, honest, and with a national perspective based on the fear of God. The Bible teaches the church to direct one of its three vocations to politics. To create a democratic system for the welfare of the people. Churches that stay away from the political realm in the sense of education, counseling and coaching to members of the congregation do not yet understand the true meaning of politics. The guidance of the members of the congregation in their position as representatives of the people at the district/city, provincial or national level as well as the executive should be provided in a pattern that is suitable for them both in terms of time, capacity, and involvement in the church.   Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menemukan sikap gereja dalam merespons politik praktis yang ada di sekitar gereja. Karena menuntun gereja untuk menentukan sikap dalam berpihak kepada salah satu partai atau kepada salah satu calon tertentu. Atau gereja hanya menjadi penonton dalam pesta demokrasi tingkat Nasional, Provinsi dan mungkin tingkat Kabupaten/Kota. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan penelusuran literatur serta fakta lapangan dimana gereja merespons fenomena demokrasi khususnya di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pentingnya gereja memberi edukasi warga jemaat tentang hak dan kewajiban sebagai pemilik suara dalam satu sistem demokrasi. Gereja hendaknya mengambil peran sebagai penyuluh terhadap praktik demokrasi yang bersih, jujur dan berwawasan kebangsaan yang didasarkan takut kepada Tuhan. Alkitab mengajarkan gereja mengarahkan salah satu tri tugas panggilannya kepada bidang politik. Supaya tercipta sistem demokrasi yang mensejahterahkan orang banyak. Gereja yang menjauhi ranah politik dalam arti edukasi, penyuluhan dan pembinaan kepada warga jemaat belum memahami arti politik sesungguhnya. Pembinaan terhadap warga jemaat dalam posisinya sebagai wakil rakyat di tingkat kabupaten/kota, provinsi atau nasional serta eksekutif hendaknya diberikan dengan pola yang sesuai bagi mereka baik dari sisi waktu, kapasitas dan keterlibatannya di gereja.

Abstract

The curriculum is the center or center of educational activities that greatly affect the implementation of the teaching and learning process. Due to the large influence of the curriculum on the implementation of teaching and learning activities, it is necessary to develop a curriculum that is in accordance with the needs of teaching and learning activities. One of the Christian education experts who contributed to the curriculum in the church is Maria Harris. Curriculum development begins with goal setting and is implemented in the Christian community. Maria Harris curriculum development offers new insights into the design of the Christian education curriculum model, which in this case can be recognized by its design and "educational" aesthetic characteristics. The purpose of this study was to design the Sunday School PAK curriculum using the Maria Harris theory. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method that refers to library research, where researchers will use various literatures such as books or articles and other sources that are accurate and related to the application of the Maria Harris curriculum to the preparation of Christian Religious Education. Sunday school. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Maria Harris curriculum can help the church to be able to fulfill its duties and vocations through the stages in preparing the Sunday school curriculum.

Abstract

Abstract: This article interprets the story of Israel's politics before having a king, with the main focus on Abimelek who viciously seized the kingdom through violence and fratricide. The story of Abimelek who commits violence and murder is finally cursed by Jotham who escapes murder through the Fable. Jotham's fable, with its political caricature, describes the proud, selfish, and dangerous thorn bush (Abimelek) as an act of leadership that does not come from God. With a narrative criticism approach, this article aims to reveal the points of continuity and contrast in these episodes to find the main motive of the Fable of Jotham. Keyword: Judges 9, Yotam Fable’s, Abimelek, Leadership from God Abstrak: Artikel ini menafsirkan kisah politik bangsa Israel sebelum memiliki seorang raja, dengan fokus utama pada Abimelek yang dengan kejam merebut kerajaan melalui kekerasan dan pembunuhan saudara. Kisah Abimelek yang melakukan kekerasan dan pembunuhan akhirnya di kutuk oleh Yotam yang luput dari pembunuhan melalui fabel. Fabel Yotam, dengan karikatur politiknya, menceritakan bahwa  semak duri yang sombong, mementingkan diri sendiri, dan berbahaya (Abimelek) sebagai sebuah tindakan kepemimpinan yang tidak berasal dari Allah.  Dengan pendekatan kritik naratif, artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan poin-poin kontinuitas dan kontras dalam episode-episode ini untuk menemukan motif utama dari fabel Yotam tentang kepemimpinan yang sesuai prinsip Alkitab yaitu pemimpin harus berasal dari Allah. Kata Kunci: Hakim-Hakim 9, Fabel Yotam, Abimelek, Kepemimpinan dari Allah

Abstract

This study aims to determine how Christian Education (CE) in the family and social environment of students, and its contribution to the formation of student character. The place where the research was carried out was the private high school GKPI Padang Bulan Medan. The study population was 104 people, while the sample was 30 people. The instrument used for this research was a questionnaire. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was a contribution of CE in the Family to Character Building at the zero level ry1 = 0.510, there was also a contribution between the Student Social Environment (X2) to the Character Building (Y) at the zero level ry2 = 0.411 and there was a joint contribution between CE in the Family and Social Environment of Students on the Formation of Student Character (1,293). Four characters are described as the character traits of Christianity, namely; Trust completely in God, Not vengeful, Happy to pray, Think rationally. Therefore, parents should continue to provide examples and teaching at home to help shape children's character. Teachers in schools are also to set an example in giving character examples to students.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana PAK dalam keluarga dan lingkungan pergaulan siswa memberi kontribusi terhadap pembentukan karakter siswa. Tempat penelitian dilakukan di SMA Swasta GKPI Padang Bulan Medan. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 104 orang sedangkan sampel sebanyak 30 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan adanya kontribusi PAK dalam Keluarga terhadap Pembinaan Karakter pada tingkat nil ry1 = 0,510, terdapat pula kontribusi Lingkungan pergaulan Siswa (X2) terhadap Pembinaan Karakter. (Y) pada taraf nol ry2 = 0,411 dan ada kontribusi bersama PAK dalam Keluarga dan Lingkungan Sosial Siswa terhadap Pembentukan Karakter Siswa (1,293). Empat karakter yang digambarkan sebagai karakter agama Kristen, yaitu; Percaya sepenuhnya pada Tuhan, Tidak dendam, Senang berdoa, Berpikir rasional. Oleh karena itu, orang tua hendaknya terus memberikan teladan dan pengajaran di rumah untuk membantu membentuk karakter anak. Guru di sekolah juga harus memberi contoh dalam memberikan contoh karakter kepada siswa.

Abstract

Conservation of nature, maintaining the balance of the ecosystem is an inseparable part of the divine mandate of God. Preserving nature and the balance of ecosystems means that we have done part of the faith. Community service by providing education on nature conservation is carried out to give residents a better understanding. The activity was carried out by selecting a group of residents in Pintubesi, especially Hindus. This implementation is based on the location of Pintubesi hamlet, Laurakit village in Deliserdang district, around (surrounded) nature with green forests. The life of the majority of residents is not farming, and a small number of broiler breeders. Therefore, to support nature conservation and maintain ecosystems, it is necessary to provide understanding to the residents there. The implementation of the activity uses the extension method by preparing materials and some practical materials during the extension. Meanwhile, residents were selected from a Hindu community to provide concentration and focus on counseling and monitoring after the counseling. From several counseling sessions, pleasant results were obtained regarding the understanding and awareness of participants in preserving nature and the role of humans in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Participants enthusiastically participated in each counseling session and arrived on time. Awareness and responsibility for conserving the surrounding nature are united by maintaining one's own farmland. Preserving and maintaining nature has been asked to become a lifestyle.

Abstract

Pesantren kilat secara umum diberlakukan bagi siswa SMA/sederajat di Sumatera Barat, yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Ramadhan. Siswa Kristen juga mengikutinya dengan gaya Kristen, yakni pengajar dari pemuka agama Kristen yang tentu merujuk dari ajaran dalam Alkitab. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengukur keberhasilan kegiatan pelatihan Baca Gali Alkitab (BGA) yang dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Sipora, April 2022.Dengan harapan pada tataran hingga menuntut komitmen siswa untuk memahami pesan Alkitab,dan mematuhi orang tua, rajin beribadah ke gereja dan menyukseskan kegiatan rohani Kristen di sekolahnya. Pembinaan rohani Kristen diberikan sesuai jadwal dengan dukungan dari Scripture Union Indonesia. Hasilnya dirasakan pihak Sekolah setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan. Anak-anak tidak lagi dipaksa untuk masuk dalam ruang ibadah Kristen, demikian pun di Gereja diperoleh informasi adanya perubahan yang semakin baik tiap-tiap minggu. Pelatihan BGA menjadi satu pelatihan yang patut dipertimbangkan agar secara tetap masuk dalam jadwal pesantren kilat di SMA/Sederajat di Sumbar, ataupun Sekolah-Sekolah Lanjutan di Indonesia untuk pertumbuhan rohani yang segar, kuat dan sigap.

Abstract

This research looks for patterns of educating children to the residents of Pintubesi hamlet who adhere to Hinduism. Th e pattern of educating children is a process carried out to improve and support the physical, emotional, social, financial, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. And the research finds out how to educate children in Hinduism and the similarities or differences that appear with adherents of other religions there. From initial observations, it is suspected that all residents with their respective religious backgrounds in Pintubesi have the same pattern in educating children. The study used a quantitative approach by triangulating interviews, distributing questionnaires, and discussing together. the results stated that as parents must be able to educate children to grow up to be good children (suputra) and useful for others. In addition, parents must also be able to instill positive values in children so that the child's growth pattern is in accordance with what is taught by Hinduism. From a cultural perspective, there is no visible difference in parenting among the Karo people in Pintu Besi Village, even though they have different religions.
