Abstract

 Discourse markers were important part within the scope of the study of classroom interaction. The theme of this research was the use of discourse markers. Research on discourse markers was a small component in the basic research discusses about the various habits of a teacher's question, the function of teachers talk, and teacher’s talk structure. This study took a sample of English learning activities at the University of Indonesia. Learning was attended by 29 students from various departments at the Science Faculty and one lecturer with experience more than three years. This study would browse the variety and functions of discourse markers that appear in the lecturer-students interaction conducted by discussion activities. The collection of information was done through observation of the lecturer-students interaction during the learning process. Observations carried out electronically by using an audio recorder via laptops and mobile phones. Then, I did the coding and transcription of the data. The analysis described that there were several types and classifications of discourse markers with diverse pragmatic functions. Discourse markers that had a high frequency in use by lecturers was "okay" that often has different pragmatic function. The variety of discourse markers used by lecturers in this discussion activity observation were often used to show understanding, to confirm understanding and ask students to do turn argued.Keywords: clasroom interaction, discourse makers, english language learning

Abstract

The Muhammadiyah organization has inclusive schools that need to adapt during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to analyze the adaptation strategies carried out by two Muhammadiyah inclusion schools in Surabaya, Indonesia, Sekolah Peduli Anak Hebat (SPAH) and the Sekolah Kreatif Surabaya. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenology method to see the particular context of the two inclusion schools' learning situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data were collected using interviews and observations. Two coordinators for students with disabilities and five teachers were interviewed about policies and learning processes during the pandemic. The observation was done during the learning process. The secondary data was also collected by searching in their social media and e-learning platforms. The data analysis showed that the adaptation strategies were to coordinate and regularly collaborate between parent-teachers-students, build community cooperation, and make flexible and accessible learning policies. It proved that the two Muhammadiyah inclusion schools in Surabaya had adapted to online learning during the pandemic COVID-19. However, the two schools still need to improve quality, especially in creating an accessible asynchronous learning platform for students with disabilities.

Abstract

After the closing of localization on December 12, 2012 by the Mayor of Surabaya, there are several stand-by laundry businesses run by former WTS (Women Tuna Susila). The business has been running for 2 years but there are some significant obstacles so the business still has not revealed significant results. Some of the obstacles faced are: Financial management that is still not regular so that is still often mixed between personal money with business money, promotion model is still conventional and some other problems. Based on the above problem, the solutions offered are as follows: (a) the addition of production equipment so as to speed up the drying process and minimize dependence on sunlight; (b) train effective and controlled bookkeeping; (c) train the proper Laundry chemistry; (d) create a creative and technology-based promotional model. From the results of the above empowerment, it proved to be an improvement of management and able to increase the productivity of the business.

Abstract

Terjadinya pandemi Covid-19 gelombang 2 menimbulkan banyak masyarakat yang terkonfirmasi positif. Hal tersebut menyebabkan terjadinya over capacity di Pelayanan Kesehatan, sehingga pasien harus melakukan isolasi mandiri di rumah. Tuntutan berdiam diri di rumah dapat memicu terjadinya gangguan psikologis atau kondisi stres. Padahal kondisi stres sangat merugikan bagi tubuh, karena dapat membuat system imun menurun, serta menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan lainnya. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukannya pendampingan psychoreligius care terhadap pasien Covid-19 yang sedang menjalani isolasi mandiri. Kegiatan pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk:  1) mengidentifikasi tingkat stres pada pasien Covid-19 yang sedang menjalani isolasi mandiri. 2) Memberikan pendampingan psikoreligius care untuk mengurangi tingkat stres pada pasien isoman. Metode pelaksanaan pertama dilakukan tahap penjaringan (pre-test), kemudian pengolahan data, implementasi pendampingan psychoreligius care dan terakhir tahap evaluasi kegiatan (post-test). Hasil pendampingan dan screening diperoleh data bahwa, 1) Pasien covid-19 mengalami kecemasan ketika sedang menjalani isolasi mandiri dengan tingkatan yang berbeda-beda. 2) Setelah dilakukan pendampingan psychoreligius care selama 14 hari terjadi penurunan tingkat kecemasan sebesar 82,86%. Kegiatan pendampingan berjalan dengan baik dan masih perlu dilakukan pendampingan berlanjut mengingat ada sebesar 17,14% pasien isoman yang membutuhkan durasi waktu lebih lama untuk mengatasi kondisi kecemasan maupun stres yang terjadi pada dirinya.Kata Kunci: Pendampingan, Isolasi Mandiri, Covid-19, Psychoreligius CareAssistance for Covid-19 Self-Isolation Patients at UM Surabaya with Psychoreligious CareABSTRACT The occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic wave 2 caused many people who were confirmed positive. This causes overcapacity in health services, so patients must be self-isolate at home. The demand to stay at home can trigger psychological disorders or stressful conditions. Whereas stress conditions are very detrimental to the body, because it can make the immune system decrease, and it cause other health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to provide psychoreligious care assistance for Covid-19 patients who are undergoing self isolation. This mentoring activity aims to: 1) identify stress levels in Covid-19 patients who are undergoing self-isolation. 2) psychoreligious care assistance are given to reduce stress levels in isoman patients. The first implementation method is the screening stage (pre-test), then data processing, implementation of psychoreligious care assistance and finally the activity evaluation stage (post-test). The results of mentoring and screening obtained data that, 1) Covid-19 patients experienced anxiety while undergoing independent isolation with different levels. 2) After 14 days of psychoreligious care assistance, there was a decrease in anxiety levels of 82.86%. Mentoring activities are going well and there is still a need for continued assistance considering there are 17.14% of isoman patients who need a longer duration of time to deal with anxiety and stress conditions that occur to them.Keywords: Assistance, Self-Isolation, Covid-19, Psychoreligious Care

Abstract

Orde baru selama 32 tahun telah menciptakan keseragaman dalam banyak aspek. Kekuasaan yang sentralistik dan pembangunan yang hanya berpusat di Jawa memunculkan problematika yang terus menerus berlangsung hingga masa saat ini : dikotomi pusat (core) dan pinggiran (periphery). Dunia pendidikan adalah salah satu aspek yang dijadikan sebagai alat kuasa negara atas rakyatnya. Ketika orde baru jatuh, ada upaya untuk keluar dari dominasi pendidikan yang sentralistik dan jawa-sentris. Melalui tulisan ini, penulis berfokus pada 2 (dua) hal. (1) Menjelaskan proses kuasa negara atas pendidikan melalui instrument ideologinya pada orde baru, dan (2) Gambaran pasca orde baru dan usaha keluar dari kuasanya. Kajian dalam tulisan ini berusaha menghimpun beberapa kajian yang terkait dengan peran negara dalam pendidikan dan menghubungkannya dengan perspektif Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) Louis Althusser. Dengan menggunakan metode kajian kepustakaan, kajian ini menjelaskan bagaimana dominasi orde baru yang yang cenderung jawa-sentris, bias gender dan sentralistik dipengaruhi dan dikontrol oleh oleh negara. Selain itu juga, temuannya lainnya adalah adanya upaya keluar dari dominasi orde baru, akan tetapi secara substansial belum banyak beranjak darinya

Abstract

Introduction to the Problems: The condition during COVID-19 that made people doing more activities at home drove the increase in spending intensity. This condition referred to a new normal. Online shopping has long been a habit for some people because of the convenience provided. In conditions of increasing online shopping activities certainly have implications for the community—online shopping practices of Indonesian people in the Covid-19 pandemic era, with an approach and cybersecurity.Purpose/ Objective Study: This research aims to examine the relationship between online shopping practices of the Indonesian people in the Covid-19 pandemic era.Design/Methodology/Approach: With an approach to the study of culture and cybersecurity, with integration between culture studies, economy, and digital law studies.Findings: This research finds that massive online shopping practices in Indonesia have implications for social vulnerability. In a cultural context, people could get caught up in alienation. Online shopping activities as productive work (work to make commodities) alienate humans, four sides humans from themselves, productive work objects (instruments and productive work objects), and products consumed. While in the context of security, there was a risk of using misused personal data. It was necessary to ratify the Law of Personal Data Security as a legal regulation mechanism for sanctions for the data privacy misused in.Paper Types: Research article

Abstract

This article focused on the teenage generation and religion as the dominant sources of truth in Indonesia, especially Islam. Religion rules become a norm that is upheld and fought for. This article explained how the generation of teenagers in Surabaya who have the same background at Islamic Universities. They used to apply virtual spaces related to sexual activities. Apart from that, this paper also tried to relate their practice to the religious teachings they profess. The informants of this study were students at several universities in Surabaya. Those who become informants were students, consisting of males and females, who openly admitted to having the habit of engaging in sexual activities in cyberspace. This research aimed to explain the practices of resistance and negotiation that occur on religious teachings. The data collection method used was in-depth interviews which focused on how they used virtual space relating to sexuality. There were various entrances to various forms of sexual simulacrums and sexuality within cyberspace, various sexual acts, and the scene that "offer" various sexual activities, such as voyeurism, role-playing, sexual game, cyber-fetishism, and long-distance sexual activity via the internet (teledildonics). In those various activities, men were more open in telling about their activities than women because of strong patriarchal tradition. Besides, they also tried to negotiate the concept of sin in religion. They considered the consequences of sin when they do sexual virtually were heavier than when they did it.

Abstract

Terjadinya lonjakan kasus Covid-19 di kota Surabaya mengakibatkan daya tampung rumah sakit rujukan mengalami peningkatan, sehingga banyak pasien terkonfirmasi positif Covid-19 yang terpaksa harus menjalani isolasi mandiri. Banyaknya warga kota Surabaya yang sedang menjalani isolasi mandiri, memperparah kondisi ekonomi yang memang sudah tidak stabil sejak terjadinya pandemi. Oleh sabab itu UMSurabaya tergerak untuk mengejawantahkan spirit ke-Islaman dalam wujud aksi nyata peduli pada masyarakat. UMSurabaya menggandeng lazizmu, dosen dan mahasiswa bergerak melakukan aksi solidaritas kemanusiaan dengan menyediakan ratusan paket sehat untuk isoman dan puskesmas. Terdapat sebesar 681 paket sehat isoman yang disebarkan ke 33 kecamatan yang berada di kota Surabaya. Serta terdapat 19 puskesmas yang mendapat bantuan paket sehat dari UM Surabaya. Masyarakat Surabaya dan puskesmas sangat antusias dengan kegiatan pemberikan paket sehat, dan mereka merasa sangat terbantu dengan adanya pemberian paket sehat ini.

Abstract

Gender and ecological issues are still a serious problem in Indonesia. This is evidenced by the high rate of violence against women and natural damage that occurs. Education is one sector that has the task of building gender and ecological awareness for every generation. Education has a periodization in the course of Indonesian history. This study aims to examine the value of ecological and gender education in the implementation of education during the New Orde and after reform eras. These two periods directly had a significant impact on gender and ecological education in Indonesia. The methodology in this study uses the library method using an ecofeminism perspective. This study is deliberately limited to only two periods of power, New Order and the Reformation Order. This was done so that this study could be focused and in-depth. Abstract

UMSurabaya juga telah banyak menghasilkan produk inovasi alat bantu disabilitas karya mahasiswa dan dosen sebagai bentuk kepedulian kepada mereka. Produk inovasi alat bantu disabilitas terbaru yang dibuat UMSurabaya berupa BIMA Tuktuk (Inovasi Kursi Roda dengan Kendali Ketukan untuk Mahasiswa Tuna Daksa berbasis Android). Adapun tujuan pembuatan produk ini adalah untuk memberikan kemudahan akses mobilitas yang menunjang penyandang difabel menuju ke ruang pembelajan, meningkatkan efektifitas penggunaan BIMA Tuktuk karena dapat beroprasi secara otomatis, serta meningkatkan partisipasi para mahasiswa disabilitas atas peningkatan fasilitas yang mereka butuhkan. Produk BIMA Tuktuk ini dibuat menggunakan model inovasi yang dilengkapi dengan sejumlah fitur kenyamanan disabilitas dengan adanya sensor presisi tinggi pada bodi, kamera pengenal gambar, dan teknologi AI (Artificial Intelligence), yang memungkinkan BIMA Tuktuk ini beroperasi tanpa memerlukan kendali manusia. Pengembangan produk BIMA Tuktuk diperuntukkan untuk kelas yang menerima mahasiswa disabilitas. Pembuatan produk inovasi ini sebagai bukti bahwa UMSurabaya dapat menjadi contoh kampus inklusif, baik dalam artian kepedulian dan kebijakan, namun juga dalam rangka pengembangan model inovasi yang tepat guna. Harapannya produk inovasi BIMA Tuktuk mampu memberikan kemudahan akses mobilitas menuju ruang pembelajaran, sehingga mereka siap mengikuti pembelajaran secara optimal.
