Abstract

Lecturers can effectively teach students to write expository texts, specifically job application letters, using a genre-based approach. This instructional method enhances students' comprehension of text types, the schematic structure of the text, linguistic characteristics, and the social function associated with this text type. This study aims to investigate the application of the genre-based approach in teaching expository writing with a focus on job application letters. The research participants consist of management students at a private university in Karawang who are enrolled in English for business management. The research design adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, incorporating observation of the exposition text learning process with a job application letter, interviews to appraise students' perceptions, and analysis of documentation, specifically the students' writing samples. The findings and subsequent discussion reveal the lecturer's commitment to effectively implementing each stage of the genre-based approach in teaching expository writing. The lecture demonstrates meticulous planning by developing a syllabus, lesson plans, and targeted instructional strategies. Additionally, the interview data indicates that students require sufficient time and guidance to master the writing of job application letters within the context of expository texts. However, the students ultimately display proficient writing skills in composing well-structured expository texts in English. Furthermore, the analysis of the documentation, comprising the students' writing samples, corroborates the successful outcomes of the job application letter compositions, which were achieved through iterative feedback provided by the lecturer. In conclusion, this research highlights the lecturer's successful implementation of the genre-based approach in student learning.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu topik yang penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Karena media ini akan menciptakan learning community dalam kelas. Disamping itu penggunaan media pembelajaran akan berdampak pada motivasi siswasiswi dan profesionalisme guru. Kelas dengan menggunakan media yang beragam akan terlihat lebih hidup daripada kelas dengan guru yang tidak memakai media apapun, demikian juga Guru. Guru kreatif dan inovatif akan selalu didamba kehadirannya oleh siswa-siswi, karena selalu hadir dengan suasana kelas yang baru, penuh inovasi, dan kreativitas. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan ialah memberikan pelatihan membuat media pembelajaran berbasis online dengan aplikasi android dan web-blog dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas pada guru-guru MGMP SMP Kabupaten Karawang. Peserta pengabdian adalah guru-guru yang tergabung dalam MGMP SMP Rumpun Matematika. Untuk kepentingan layanan pengabdian dan ketersediaan sarana dan prasaranan maka diambil 10 orang guru. Pelatihan diadakan di SMP Negeri 2 Ciampel selama 2 hari pada tanggal 26 dan 27 Agustus 2022 pukul 08.00 s.d 15.00. Program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengenalkan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis online dengan aplikasi android dan web-blog dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas pada guru-guru MGMP SMP Rumpun Matematika di Kabupaten Karawang sedangkan manfaat yang di dapat dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah: 1. Guru dapat mengenal penggunaan media berbasis android online. 2.Memotivasi guru untuk memberagamkan media belajar yang telah diterapkan. 3. Guru dapat mengaplikasikan dan menerapkan media belajar berbasis online menggunakan aplikasi android sehingga di harapakan pengabdian ini memberikan manfaat kepada Sekolah yang ada di daerah Karawang khususnya SMP untuk bisa menganalisis dan mengembangkan media pembelajaran sehingga hal ini berdampak kepada meningkatnya prestasi siswa di sekolah.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam membaca yakni siswa mengalami kesulitan membaca permulaan. Abdimas ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan media papan flanel baca (panelca) terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 SDN Adiarsa Barat III. Penggunaan PANELCA ini diterapkan kepada siswa kelas IA berjumlah 24 siswa dankelas IB berjumlah 24 siswa.

Abstract

This development research is based on problems in learning IPAS and the low science literacy skills of elementary school students. The purpose of the research is to develop ethnoscience-based digital teaching materials to improve science literacy skills. This research uses R&D with the ADDIE model approach. Data collection techniques include: questionnaires and documentation. The results of research and development show that the material expert validation consists of 3 validators, which obtained an average value of 83 with a very feasible category to use. While the media expert obtained an average value of 86 with a category very feasible to use. Learning experts get an average value of 87 with a category very feasible to use. So it can be concluded that ethnoscience-based digital teaching materials are very feasible to use.

Abstract

Creative thinking can be said to construct an idea that emphasizes several aspects of ability, such as flexibility and originality. This can familiarize students not only with knowing the material but also understanding and applying it in everyday life so that understanding becomes long-term memory in memory. This creative thinking ability can be facilitated during the learning process in a mathematically realistic approach or better known as RME. So the purpose of this research is to improve students' creative abilities through a mathematical realistic approach with local culture as a context. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a research design of The Nonequivalent Control Group Design through a creative thinking test. The study was conducted in two classes with different treatments, one class as the experimental class and the other as the control class. Conducted at the seventh grade junior high school level. The results of this study are the improvement of students' mathematical creative thinking skills who receive RME learning is better than students who receive expository learning methods.
