Abstract

The urgency of the availability of renewable energy, green economy and implementation of Sharia Economy actually has a spirit that is in line with the efforts of the global community in supporting sustainable development. The synergy between Sharia Economy practices in Indonesia and renewable energy programs in order to realize it becomes an inevitability. This research aims to describe the concept of synergy of Sharia Economy practices and renewable energy programs in Indonesia in order to realize sustainable development. This research is qualitative descriptive research through library study methods and content analysis. The results showed that the synergy scheme between renewable energy programs and Islamic economic/financial practices can be done in the form of: (i) sharia financial sector can be an instrument of EBT investment financing; (ii) the utilization of EBT may be a supporter and spearhead of halal industry, such as halal food and beverages, Muslim fashion, halal tourism, pharmaceuticals and halal cosmetics and halal media and recreation; and (iii) in the context of socially religious EBT financing, EBT can be done with the concept of ta'āwun and sedekaj jariah through crowd funding and waqf. In order to optimize the synergy between renewable energy programs and sharia economy, some steps and Quick Wins programs that can be done are: (1) campaigns against the excellence of renewable energy to achieve national energy self-sufficiency; (2) create easy access and attractive financing schemes to support renewable energy; (3) conduct research and publication on renewable energy and potential collaboration with other industries in the halal value chain that can be perceived in Indonesia, especially halal tourism. Keywords: renewable, energy, Islamic, economic, sustainable AbstrakUrgensi ketersediaan energi terbarukan, green economy dan implementasi Ekonomi Syariah sesungguhnya memiliki ruh yang sejalan dengan upaya masyarakat global dalam mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan. Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the causality between democracy and economic growth in Indonesia for the period of 1995 to 2017. More specifically, this paper  also attends to investigate the existence of a long-run relationship between them. This study perform a multivariate cointegration test with political stability as a control variable and cross-check this long-run relationship with an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model approach to cointegration. This study also use the Granger causality test within a vector error correction model (VECM) framework and estimate three different models using a non-linear specification: Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimation, Fully Modified OLS (FM-OLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS). The results show cointegration among the variables specified in the model when political stability is taken into account. Indeed, for economic growth and democracy to move together in the long run, they need to be associated with political stability. The tests for Granger causality conducted show a long-run causality running from GDP and political stability to democracy. In other word, the economic growth and political stability Granger cause democracy. It is the economic performance that influences democracy and not the reverse. In short-run, there is neutrality causation between democracy and growth, democracy and political stability, growth and political stability. These results suggest that economic growth through strong institutions is a precondition for democratization.

Abstract

The recent studies about the role of Islamic philanthropy in addressing socio-economic problems have been growing and confirming its significant role in overcoming the problem. This is in line with the existence of regulations that support the effectiveness of its role in poverty reduction in Indonesia, such as Law No. 23 of 2011 on Zakat Management and Law No. 41 of 2004 on Waqf. This study has two objectives. First, to analyze the impact of Islamic philanthropy on poverty reduction as the socio-economic problems in Indonesia in the short and long run. Second, to analyze the effectiveness of integrated Islamic commercial and social-economic or finance to address the poverty compared to unintegrated one. This study used Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to analyze annual data for the period of 2002-2019 while investigating the long and short-run relationships among variables. It found that Islamic philanthropy reduces poverty both in the short and long run, particularly in the integration of Islamic social and commercial finance in a single model. The government should therefore include Islamic philanthropy or other Islamic social finances as a fundamental strategy for building financial stability and sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the long and short-run impact of democracy on corruption in Indonesia. This study used the method of Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and dynamic Error Correction Model (ECM) technique during the year of 1995-2020 with secondary data from The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), The Global Economy and World Bank’s World Development Indicators (WDI), and Transparency International. The results of the study indicated that democracy has significant effects on the level of corruption only in the long run. In the long run, the results show that the impact of democracy is significant at a 1% significance level and decreases the amount of corruption in Indonesia. A 1% change in democracy and other factors are considered equal, which will change the corruption level by approximately 0.2%. The results imply that political stability associated with democracy will result in the corruption index. In other words, the results suggest that democracy reduces corruption. From a policy point of view, this means that developing democratic institutions should be part of strategies to reduce corruption.

Abstract

The research attempted to explain the truth of the assumptions and accusations of some Muslims against the Covid-19 pandemic as a global conspiracy and to refute weak views and arguments related to it. This research applied descriptive qualitative methods using sociological, historical and heuristic approaches. The results showed that the existence of the Covid-19 pandemic as a disease was real, and not a conspiracy issue. The perceptions, arguments and understanding of some Muslims stating that the Covid-19 pandemic was a conspiracy had the potential effect to cause damage the life order as a state and society. In addition, if this understanding was not directed according to the correct Islamic guidance, it was worried that it would have a negative impact on the brotherhood and unity of Muslims. Some baseless assumptions and arguments regarding this epidemic can be answered, refuted and explained with strong and real arguments and evidence based on the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, valid narrations, and historical records of Muslims.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the nature of infotainment, the view of Islamic law on media and information products, and the view of Islamic law on infotainment. This research is a qualitative, descriptive study with library research techniques using philosophical, historical, and sociological approaches. The results show two main findings. First, infotainment is basically an information product containing entertainment elements, news, and information about celebrities. It is dominated by celebrity news that is not required by society and potentially provides negative impacts on people's social lives. Second, in the perspective of Islamic law, the media of information in all its forms is something of a neutral nature and hence the legal status depends on the usage purpose. By looking at the elements contained in an infotainment show (gibah, namīmah, and al-jahr bi al-fahisyah) coupled with the violation of at least two main objectives of Islamic Sharia (hifz al-a'rad and hifz al -'aql), infotainment with its present reality is something that is forbidden. The implication of this conclusion is that all attempts to produce, distribute, and consume them are unlawful (haram).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of satisfaction and importance among trainees towards distance training and identify the strengths and weaknesses of distance training implementation so that the organizers can maximize the satisfaction of the trainees towards the implementation of distance training. This research used quantitative and qualitative analysis within the framework of Level 1 (Reaction) of the Kirkpatrik Evaluation Model, as well as the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The results showed that: (1) the trainees were very satisfied with the implementation of distance training; (2) the implementation of distance training is considered very important to be implemented; (3) Some evaluation indicators have positive gap values, while others have negative gap values, meaning that some evaluation indicators have not met the expectations of stakeholders; and (4) most evaluation indicators are in quadrants A and B, meaning that they either must be prioritized to improve the performance, or maintained because they are already considered good. Therefore, the Financial Education and Training Agency through work units in the region, especially the Makassar branch, needs to improve the performance of distance training implementation, especially in the evaluation items/indicators in quadrant A to increase the satisfaction of participants in the next training sessions.
