Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of static fluid pressure learning with Predict, Observe, Explain (POE)-oriented student worksheets on the eighth-grade students' science process skills. This research employed a non-equivalent control group design. A total of 166 students from five classes in class VIII at State Junior High School 03 in Bengkulu City represented the research population. Students in class VIII-1 (control group) and class VIII-2 (experimental group), for a total of 58 students, were selected as subjects using non-probability sampling and the convenience sampling method. By applying non-parametric inferential statistics, particularly the Mann-Whitney U test, the hypothesis was examined. The results confirm that the use of POE-oriented worksheets in learning the concept of pressure in static fluids has a statistically positive effect at the significance level (0.05) with a p-value (0.003) on science process skills, and the effect size (r=0.39) is in the medium category. The availability of worksheets that rely on scaffolding strategies such as POE may enable students in secondary schools to construct their own knowledge during the learning process.The provision of worksheets that employ scaffolding techniques, such as the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) approach, has the potential to facilitate the development of students' knowledge construction and science process abilities in secondary school settings.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar LKPD berbasis Sains Teknologi Masyarakat (STM) Pada Materi Zat Aditif Kelas VIII SMP yang tervalidasi oleh para ahli. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4D dengan dibatasi hanya pada tahap pengembangan (development). Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Negeri 05 Seluma. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa angket validasi ahli dan angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis validasi yang digunakan adalah formula Aiken’ V . Hasil penelitian ini berupa pengembangan LKPD Berbasis Sains Teknologi Masyarakat (STM) Pada Materi Zat Aditif kelas VIII SMP. Hasil penelitian LKPD dinyatakan layak digunakan dengan  skor keseluruhan rata-rata dalam kategori sangat valid, yang menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan telah layak secara konseptual dari aspek materi, bahasa dan media. Hasil respon peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 05 Seluma terhadap bahan ajar LKPD secara keseluruhan mendapat persentase rata-rata dalam kategori sangat baik. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta didik memberikan respon positif terhadap bahan ajar LKPD yang telah dikembangkan.   Kata kunci : LKPD, STM, Zat Aditif,   ABSTRACT   This study aims to develop teaching materials for the development of Science-Based Community Technology (STM) Student Worksheets on Additive Substance Material for Grade VIII SMP which are validated by experts. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model limited to the development stage. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 05 Seluma. The instruments used in this study were expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The validation analysis technique used is the Aiken' formula. The results of this study were in the form of developing student worksheets based on Science Technology Society (STM) on additive material for class VIII SMP. The results of the study on the development of student worksheets were declared fit for use with an average overall score in the very valid category, indicating that the teaching materials developed were conceptually feasible from the aspects of material, language and media. The results of the responses of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 05 Seluma to the teaching materials for the development of worksheets for students as a whole got an average percentage in the very good category. This shows that the majority of students gave a positive response to the teaching materials for the development of student worksheets that had been developed.   Keyword : STM, Worksheets , Additives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flash card media on the knowledge of traffic signs and speaking skills of third grade students at SD Negeri 54 Lubuklinggau. This study used two classes, namely class IIIA with 20 students as an experimental class using flash card media and IIIB with 20 students as a control class without using flash card media. This type of research is Quasi Experiment with a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques use test questions and presentations explaining the contents of traffic sign cards and documentation to obtain school data information. The results of the hypothesis test research conducted on the experimental class and control class, from the results of the median rank of the experimental class (80.00) > the median rank score of the control class (72.50) for knowledge of traffic signs, while the results of the median rank of the experimental class (3.00) > the median rank score of the control class (2.25) for speaking skills, so it can be said that the use of flash card media has a statistically significant effect on the mastery of traffic sign knowledge and speaking skills of experimental class students (class IIIA).

Abstract

Background of the Study: The incorporation of technology in education has become increasingly vital in the digital age, especially to augment student interest and engagement in physics, a discipline frequently regarded as challenging and uninspiring.Purpose and Scope of the Paper: This community service program seeks to utilize Kahoot! as an interactive digital learning platform to enhance student engagement in physics education at Senior High School 6 (SMAN 6) Bengkulu Tengah.Methods: We implemented the activities using a participatory method, including direct instruction for teachers and interactive Kahoot! sessions with students. The activity encompassed socialization, demonstrations, and practical applications in the educational context.Results: The findings demonstrated that both educators and learners reacted favorably to the implementation of Kahoot! resulting in heightened student’ engagement and a more vibrant classroom environment. Students exhibited enthusiasm, a competitive disposition, and enhanced concentration throughout physics learning sessions.Conclusions: Kahoot! serves as an exciting and effective alternative learning platform that promotes active engagement and improves comprehension of physics subjects. It offers educators a pragmatic instrument to enhance pedagogical approaches in accordance with the traits of the digital generation.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a scientifically based physics e-module to improve students' critical thinking skills, which are valid, practical and effective. This type of research is (R & D) with a 4D development model (define, design, develop and disseminate). The research sample was physics education students in the sixth semester of PGRI Silampari University. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and tests, research instruments in the form of questionnaires and test questions. The validation results from language experts averaged 0.83 in the very valid category, with inter-rater reliability of 42%, a moderate level of agreement. The validation results from media experts averaged 0.88 in the very valid category, with inter-rater reliability of 57%, a moderate level of agreement. The validation results from material experts averaged 0.86 in the very valid category, with inter-rater reliability of 63%, a strong level of agreement. The lecturers' practical response to the scientific-based physics e-module obtained a practicality percentage of 82.5% in the very practical category. The practical response of the limited group of students (6 students) to the scientific-based physics e-module obtained an average percentage of practicality of 88.3% in the very practical category. Based on calculations from the critical thinking questionnaire, the critical thinking percentage was 80% in the high category. Apart from that, from the test results that used questions with critical thinking indicators, an average pre-test score was 35,67 and an average post-test score was 78,85 with an average Gain test score of 0.67 in the medium category. So it can be concluded that the scientific-based e-module developed has been declared valid, practical and effective, for improving students' critical thinking abilities

Abstract

Earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) are beneficial invertebrates that reduce waste, animal feed, and cosmetic raw material. The research was conducted at Ruyani Life Sciences Learning Resources (SBIH), Bengkulu (Ruyani et al., 2018), from September to November 2023. The design of this study adopted a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of five experimental groups with different feed comparisons (in %).Earthworm growth and development are optimized in their natural habitat, which includes temperatures ranging from 15℃ to 25℃, soil moisture and air availability between 15% and 30%, soil pH levels between 6.0 and 7.2, and the presence of organic matter for food. The study fed earthworms a diet consisting of tofu residues and cow dung in different proportions: (a) 100% tofu residues and 0% cow dung; (b) 75% tofu residues and 25% cow dung; (c) 50% tofu residues and 50% cow dung; and (d) 25% tofu residues and 75% cow dung. The research findings indicated that the ideal feed composition for maximizing earthworm biomass production is 25% tofu residues and 75% cow dung. Additionally, the most effective ratio of individual earthworms throughout a four-week maintenance period is 75% tofu residues and 25% cow dung.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Science education markedly improves a nation's competitiveness within the framework of globalization. This study seeks to analyze the differences in science education systems in Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Singapore, focusing on policy, curriculum, pedagogical methods, and technological integration in education. The research is a descriptive qualitative applying comparative study method. Data was collected through literature review and document analysis from several relevant and reliable sources. The results demonstrate that the three nations utilize significantly different approaches to science education. Indonesia persists in facing challenges regarding the equitable distribution of science laboratory facilities, the training of science instructors, and the integration of technology in scientific education. The UAE has established an education system based on science, technology, and mathematics, employing artificial intelligence-enhanced educational technology and virtual laboratories. Singapore specializes in experiential learning, supported by sophisticated infrastructure and continuous professional development. The success factors for science education are the integration of technology, the improvement of science teacher skills, and the establishment of regulations that support project-based learning. Indonesia can improve the quality of science education by adopting successful strategies from the UAE and Singapore, such as strengthening the function of science laboratories, increasing technological access in schools, and establishing systematic and sustainable training for science instructors. This study's recommendations aim to assist policymakers in enhancing the quality of science education in Indonesia. ABSTRAK Pendidikan sains memainkan peran penting untuk meningkatkan daya saing suatu negara di era globalisasi. Karena pentingnya pendidikan sains, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perbedaan sistem pendidikan sains di Indonesia, Uni Emirat Arab (UEA), dan Singapura, yang difokuskan pada aspek kebijakan, kurikulum, metode pembelajaran, serta integrasi teknologi dalam pendidikan. Penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi komparatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kajian literatur, dan analisis dokumen dari berbagai sumber yang valid dan terpercaya. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa ketiga negara mengimplementasikan pendekatan yang relatip berbeda dalam pendidikan sains. Indonesia menghadapi tantangan dalam pemerataan infrastruktur laboratorium, pelatihan guru, dan integrasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran sain. UEA telah mengadopsi pendidikan berbasis STEM dan teknologi berbasis kecerdasan buatan dan laboratorium virtual. Sedangkan, Singapura unggul dalam pembelajaran berbasis eksperimen, didukung oleh infrastruktur yang lengkap dan pelatihan guru yang berkelanjutan. Faktor-faktor utama keberhasilan pendidikan sains meliputi integrasi teknologi dalam pendidikan, peningkatan kompetensi guru sains, serta kebijakan yang mendukung project-based learning. Indonesia dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan sains dengan mengadopsi praktik baik dalam pembelajaran dari UEA dan Singapura, seperti penguatan fungsi laboratorium sains, peningkatan akses teknologi oleh sekolah-sekolah, dan pelatihan guru sains yang sistematis dan berkelanjutan. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi pengambil kebijakan dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan sains di Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service aims to provide training to teachers at SD Negeri 8 Bengkulu City in utilizing the CRT approach to implement learning that liberates students. The training activity was carried out on April 27 2024 at SD Negeri 8 Bengkulu City and was attended by 13 teachers. Training methods are carried out in the form of lectures, discussions and practice. In the first session, participants were provided with an understanding of the concept of CRT and the importance of integrating culture in learning. The second session discussed identifying students' cultural backgrounds and learning strategies that are appropriate to the CRT approach. The final session focused on classroom management from a CRT perspective, evaluation, and collaboration with parents and the community. The training activity was carried out at SDN 8 Bengkulu City, which was attended by 13 teachers. Through this training, it is hoped that teachers can develop the ability to create a learning environment that is culturally responsive, respects diversity, and liberates students in the learning process. Activities are carried out using training patterns. After conducting training, teachers were able to develop teaching modules using the CRT approach. From this training activity it can be concluded that the training has an impact on the ability of teachers to develop teaching modules using the CRT approach.

Abstract

The aim of community service program is to enhance the educational experience at the integrated Islamic high school (SMA IT Khairu Ummah) Rejang Lebong district by employing an ethnoscience approach. The service program is implemented in SMA IT Khairu Ummah to address challenges posed by inadequate learning facilities and infrastructure, particularly in physics education, which may impede the teaching and learning process. The implementation of community service initiatives in 2024 comprises four phases. The first phase encompasses observational efforts within schools to acquire a comprehensive picture of the educational environment. The second phase involves the socialization of service activities and coordination with school principal and educators, particularly those teaching physics. The third phase entailed instructing educators on the development of ethnoscience-focused educational resources. The last phase entails regular assessment and guidance involving two Mahasiswa Kampus Merdeka Belajar program and five physics lecturers to guarantee that the community service program positively influences the learning process. The findings indicate that the training positively enhances teacher competencies by implementing ethnoscience education that leverages the local community's cultural and traditional diversity, even amidst constraints of limited facilities and infrastructure. Physics teacher and students of SMA IT Khairu Ummah SMA IT have implemented an ethnoscience-based physics approach that is effective in enhancing students' comprehension of scientific processes and their acquisition of related skills.
