Abstract

Background: Adolescents are an age group highly exposed to social media in their daily lives. The high intensity of social media use has raised concerns about its negative impact on adolescent mental health. Purpose: This review aims to map the scientific evidence related to the impact of social media on mental health in adolescents. Methods: Using the Arksey and O'Malley scoping review framework, this study followed five key stages: formulating the research question, identifying relevant literature, selecting appropriate studies, organizing the data, and reporting the findings. Articles were searched through the PubMed database and the Google Scholar search engine, covering publication years 2021–2025. A total of 80 articles were screened using the PRISMA flowchart and critical appraisal, following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines, resulting in eight articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Results: Three main themes emerged: intensity of social media use, disturbed sleep quality, and mental health disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Most adolescents use social media for more than three hours per day, with TikTok and WhatsApp being the dominant platforms. High usage correlates with increased sleep disturbances and the risk of depressive symptoms and stress. Conclusion: Social media has a significant impact on adolescent mental health. Digital literacy education and parental supervision are crucial to prevent these negative impacts.

Abstract

In an era of global competition and increasing societal demands, the quality of healthcare services and patient satisfaction are important indicators of hospital quality. Nurses are the healthcare workers with the highest frequency of interaction with patients in inpatient wards, and communication is crucial. Effective and high-quality communication is key to nurses' success in carrying out their roles and functions to improve patient satisfaction. This study aims to examine the relationship between nurses’ therapeutic communication and patient satisfaction in the inpatient ward. This study employs a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was 67 inpatients who were selected proportionally based on the number of patients in each treatment room using a proportional random sampling technique. A questionnaire was used as the measurement tool to measure therapeutic communication and patient satisfaction. Data analysis was conducted using Fisher’s Exact Test. The study indicated a significant relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and patient satisfaction in the inpatient ward. Therefore, hospitals are strongly recommended to provide regular training and incorporate this skill into nurse performance evaluations to systematically improve the overall quality of care and institutional reputation.

Abstract

Preconception Services, especially for prospective brides and grooms, aim to discover and change biomedical, psychological and social risks to women's health and pregnancy conditions with optimal early detection strategies. However, until now, services for prospective brides and grooms have only been limited to providing tetanus toxoid vaccination, which is currently not a prevention of the main problem. In fact, it is believed that the current problem of stunting can be prevented by optimally planning pregnancies and even marriages. So a strategy needs to be carried out in developing wedding planning through comprehensive pre-wedding classes. This community service aims to increase independence and empower health workers and prospective brides and grooms (catin) in optimal pre-wedding planning. The participants were 49 prospective brides and grooms. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) by carrying out 3 activities carried out in stages. The activities carried out are screening of catin's physical and mental health, physical and mental preparation education, social and spiritual preparation education, and monitoring and evaluation. The results of community service, namely based on premarital biopsychosocial preparation before and after the catin class, showed an average increase of 52%. From the results of the community service program in the form of catin classes, in general there are differences between before and after the program.

Abstract

Early detection of a high risk of pregnancy is crucial to prevent serious complications for the mother and fetus. However, the main challenge in pregnant women's health services in various regions is the low early detection rate. Factors such as education level, knowledge about pregnancy health, and access to health services are suspected to affect low awareness and preventive measures in pregnant women. This study aims to analyze the influence of these factors on the early detection of pregnancy risk using a cross-sectional quantitative approach with 103 pregnant women at the Tirto I Health Center, Pekalongan Regency, through a chi-square test. The findings showed a significant relationship between knowledge level (p-value 0.001), education (p-value 0.021), and health insurance ownership (p-value 0.017) on early detection of pregnancy risk. It is hoped that health workers can improve education and access to services to improve early detection of pregnancy risks.
