Abstract

Sampah merupakan masalah telah menjadi krisis global dari daratan hingga lautan. Indonesia sendiri merupakan penghasil sampah plastik terbesar kedua di dunia. Salah satu sampah yang mendominasi di lautan adalah sampah plastik. Sumber sampah plastik yang bermuara di laut banyak berasal dari limbah industri dan rumah tangga. Keberadaan sampah plastik perlu diidentifikasi dan dianalisa kelimpahannya untuk menanggulangi dan mencegah persebarannya di lingkungan. Berdasarkan kondisi yang ada, artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi jenis sampah plastik serta kepadatannya di kelima pantai yang berbeda di daerah Pasuruan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode transek kuadran dengan ukuran 5x5 m yang dibentangkan di sepanjang kelima pantai tersebut dan diidentifikasi komposisi jenis sampah pada setiap transek kuadran tersebut. Hasilnya didapatkan bahwa Pantai Tambaan memiliki persentase sampah plastik tertinggi dan Pantai Panggungrejo memiliki kepadatan sampah tertinggi daripada wilayah pantai yang lain. Kedua pantai tersebut dekat dengan wilayah pemukiman dan terindikasi padatanya aktivitas antropogenik di kedua pantai tersebut, sehingga menyumbang sampah yang cukup signifikan terutama sampah plastik.   Waste is a problem that has become a global crisis from ldan to sea. Indonesia is the second largest producer of plastic waste in the world. One of the dominating waste in the ocean is plastic waste. The source of plastic waste that empties into the sea comes from industrial dan household waste. The presence of plastic waste needs to be identified dan analyzed for its abundance to overcome dan prevent its spread in the environment. Based on the existing conditions, this article aims to determine the composition of plastic waste types dan their density on five different beaches in the Pasuruan area. This study used the 5x5 m quadrant transect method along the five beaches dan identified the composition of waste types in each quadrant transect. It was found that Tambaan Beach had the highest percentage of plastic waste dan Panggungrejo Beach had the highest density of waste compared to other beach areas. Both beaches are close to residential areas dan indicated the density of anthropogenic activities on both beaches, thus contributing significant waste, especially plastic waste.

Abstract

Pantai wisata rentan terhadap tekanan aktivitas antropogenik yang berkontribusi terhadap akumulasi sampah laut. Pantai Kenjeran, Surabaya, memiliki dua kawasan wisata dengan sistem pengelolaan berbeda, yaitu Taman Hiburan Pantai Kenjeran (THP Kenjeran) yang terkelola dan Pantai Kenjeran Taman Suroboyo (Pantai KTS) yang tidak terkelola. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik sampah laut dan membandingkan tingkat kebersihan pantai pada kedua kawasan tersebut. Metode purposive sampling diterapkan melalui penyisiran sampah pada zona backshore dan foreshore. Data jenis sampah dan indeks kebersihan pantai dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jumlah sampah di pantai tidak terkelola lebih tinggi dibandingkan pantai terkelola, dengan dominasi sampah plastik dan karet. Nilai indeks kebersihan mengindikasikan THP Kenjeran tergolong bersih, sedangkan Pantai KTS tergolong kotor. Perlu adanya pengelolaan sampah terpadu dan pelibatan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kebersihan pantai tidak terkelola.

Abstract

Characteristics of plastic debris were assessed among two types of beaches on Bawean Island (windward and leeward) to analyze its sources and long-term effects. Plastic debris was collected inside a 5 x 5 meter transect with five transect plots on each beach per 20 meters. Samplings were carried out three times at intervals of seven days from six different beaches. The average abundances of plastic debris were almost similar between leeward (0.1690.123 pcs m-2) and windward beaches (0.8410.577 pcs m-2). On the other hand, in terms of weight, leeward beaches contained a very low value of debris (0.9270.746 g m-2) compared to windward beaches (4.4793.551 g m-2). Sheets on the windward beaches and wholes on the leeward beaches dominate the shape of plastic debris with the average size was 1520 cm. The color on both type of beaches was dominated by white (38%) and blue (12%). The weathering intensity is 48% on the leeward beach and 52% on the windward beach. The absence of significant differences in size, color, and weathering intensity implies that the debris found came from the same source. The large size and low weathering intensity of the plastic debris means that the debris has not been exposed to hydro-oceanographic factors for an extended period and they came from a local source. The difference in abundance and shape of plastic debris suggests that wind still plays a vital role in shaping the characteristics of plastic debris on Bawean Island.Keywords:Marine DebrisPlastic WeatheringWind DirectionMarine PollutionMacroplastic

Abstract

Kondangmerak Beach, Malang Regency, is a tourism and culinary destination, yet it suffers from accumulating young coconut shells that are littered or openly burned, degrading cleanliness and generating pollution and health risks. This community engagement program aimed to establish a circular-economy system that converts coconut-shell waste into charcoal as an alternative fuel for fishery-product processing with the Mina Jaya Mandiri group. We applied a problem–solution-fit approach combining social and technological interventions: hands-on tourism-awareness socialization and workshops, a stainless cart as a designated drop point, and a drum-based dryer with stainless racks powered by used oil. Performance was tracked using operational indicators: kilograms processed, drying time, charcoal substitution rate, and user feedback. Results show improved sorting compliance and a clearer collect–dry–store–use workflow, shorter drying lead time, more stable combustion readiness, reduced shell piles, and better fuel cost efficiency. The program shows appropriate technology and education can strengthen locally sustainable coastal livelihoods.
