Abstract

The productivity of oil palm plants is influenced by several factors, including the environment (soil and climate), genetics (type or variety of oil palm) and agronomic techniques that are able to support the growth of oil palm to achieve optimal production. The objective of this research was to study the effect of topography on the oil palm productivity. Purposive sampling was carried out through direct observation in the field at three different topographies, namely, flat-to-undulating, hilly, and hilly without terraces. Each topography consisted of 2 blocks with 30 samples each. The total number of samples was 180 trees of Dy×P Dumpy variety with the same planting years, namely 2006. The results showed that oil palm plants did not show significant differences in term agronomic characteristic. The productivity of oil palm plants planted in flat to undulating topography was 21.23 ton/ha, higher than those of hilly topography (17.09 ton/ha) and those of hilly without terraces (14.62 ton/ha). Agronomic characters that were positively correlated with bunch weight were plant height, stem diameter, and number of bunches (in flat-to-undulating lands); all agronomic characters in hilly land; and plant height and number of fronds in hilly land without terraces

Abstract

The productivity of rubber plantations is determined by the type of clone, the age of the plant, the level of land suitability, and the exploitation system applied. The exploitation system applied determines the productivity of the rubber plantation because it is related to the use of the skin and the physiological process of latex. Implementing the right exploitation system can ensure high and sustainable productivity. On the other hand, the implementation of the wrong exploitation system can result in low productivity and shorten the economic life of the plant. This study aims to determine the productivity of rubber plants in clone PB 260 with various tapping systems. This research was conducted at Afdeling I Kebun Bangun PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III using a descriptive analysis method by collecting secondary data on the productivity of the PB 260 clone rubber plant from 2016 – 2020. The parameters observed were the production data of the PB 260 clone rubber plant with various tapping systems. The results of this study indicate that the analysis of rubber plant productivity data in 2016 – 2020 had the highest production in 2017 with a planting year of 2009 and the lowest in 2020 with a planting year of 2000. Meanwhile, overall, the highest production was in 2018 and the lowest was in 2016. The factors that influence the high and low productivity are caused by the tapping system that is not permanent or changing, the lack of application of fertilization, the reduction in the number of trees in the field caused by being attacked by JAP (White Root Fungus), KAS (Dry Alur Sadap), Moldy Road, fallen trees due to strong winds, and the age of the plants. The relationship between production and cost of goods/kg is that the greater the production obtained, the lower the cost of goods/kg.

Abstract

The flash flood disaster that struck Batu Busuak, Padang City, in November-December 2025 caused massive damage to residential areas. Within three weeks, this area experienced four consecutive flash floods that swept away 11 houses, severely damaged 46 houses, and forced hundreds of families to evacuate. This community service activity aimed to provide humanitarian aid in the form of necessities to flood victims through international collaboration between Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) As-Sunnah Deli Serdang and Bayaan Association Singapore. The service partners were flood-affected communities in Koto Panjang Ikua Koto Sub-district, Koto Tangah District, and Batu Busuak, Lambung Bukik Sub-district, Pauh District, Padang City. Implementation methods included multi-institutional coordination, international fundraising, local procurement of aid, and door-to-door and distribution-point delivery. A total of IDR 57,000,000 was collected and used to procure necessity packages for 150 affected households. The activity was conducted on December 24-27, 2025, and was led directly by the Chairman of STAI As-Sunnah. The results showed that aid distribution successfully reached victims in isolated locations using adaptive methods according to field conditions. Community response was very positive despite high psychosocial trauma, where residents lived in constant vigilance against subsequent flood threats. This activity was also followed by sustainability programs, including plans to build mosques and bore wells, undertaken by Yayasan Peduli Kemanusiaan Arrisalah as long-term recovery efforts. The Singapore-Indonesia international collaboration in this activity demonstrated the effectiveness of global Islamic philanthropy networks for local emergency response.

Abstract

A steam turbine is an energy conversion machine whose converted energy is used by other machines to generate power. This study aims to analyze the reliability of turbine engines using the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) method and the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX). In this study, TPM was used to identify various major causes of production time loss, such as breakdowns, setup time, and loading time. Meanwhile, 4DX focuses on achieving key objectives through consistent and measurable actions, namely zero breakdowns and zero stagnation. The results of this study indicate that the Availability value is 98.69%, the Performance value is 98.14%, the Quality value is 99.74%, and the OEE value is 96.61%, which means that the turbine is in a reliable condition. In addition, 4DX plays a role in accelerating the achievement of improvement targets by providing a more focused approach, monitoring daily activities, and enhancing accountability. The research results indicate that the combination of these two methods is effective in improving turbine reliability, extending equipment lifespan, and fostering employee discipline.
