Abstract

This study aims to identify the trends in approaches and applications of ethnoscience-based learning media in chemistry education through a Systematic Literature Review. The urgency of this research lies in the need for contextual learning approaches that are relevant to local culture. A total of 19 relevant articles from national and international journals were selected from an initial pool of 30 articles. The selection procedure included identification, reduction, and content analysis based on inclusion criteria. The analysis revealed the dominance of ethnoscience modules (31.58%), followed by miscellaneous media and textbooks (each 15.79%). These media contribute to improving students' chemistry literacy, science process skills, and culturally based character development. This study recommends developing more diverse and integrative ethnoscience-based learning media.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the chemistry learning process, focusing on students' perspectives, opportunities, and challenges. Using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by quantitative methods, data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with 40 chemistry students from Universitas Negeri Makassar. The questionnaire comprised 19 Likert-scale questions and open-ended items addressing four main indicators: effectiveness, interactivity, critical thinking, and independence in learning. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 students to gather in-depth insights into their reasons for using AI, their experiences, and suggestions for AI application in education. The findings highlight the need for a balanced approach to AI integration, ensuring it complements traditional learning methods without replacing human interaction. Recommendations for future research include examining the long-term impact of AI on learning outcomes and exploring strategies to foster independent learning alongside AI usage. This study contributes to understanding the role of AI in education and provides insights for its effective implementation in chemistry learning.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to enhance the competencies of teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Tinggimoncong through training in the development of digital teaching media. The training focuses on two main aspects: increasing knowledge about the types of digital teaching media that can be applied in teaching and improving teachers' skills in using Canva to design more creative teaching materials. The results of the training show a significant improvement in both aspects. Teachers' knowledge of digital teaching media increased from 30% to 80%, while their skills in using Canva increased from 25% to 75%. This improvement indicates that the training successfully broadened teachers' understanding of the use of technology in teaching and provided them with practical skills in designing engaging and effective teaching materials. With these new skills, teachers can enhance the quality of classroom instruction and create more interactive learning experiences for students. This training is also expected to offer solutions to the challenges faced by teachers in remote areas with limited access to technology and educational training.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran penting antusiasme belajar siswa dalam membentuk keberhasilan akademik, khususnya dalam pendidikan kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain kausal-komparatif untuk menganalisis hubungan antara antusiasme siswa dan prestasi akademik mereka. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipasi siswa di kelas dan skor post-test dari dua kelas berbeda, yaitu Kelas A dan Kelas B. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kelas A memiliki tingkat antusiasme yang jauh lebih tinggi, dengan 94,44% siswa berada pada kategori “Sangat Tinggi”, dibandingkan dengan 55,55% di Kelas B. Analisis statistik menggunakan Uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada skor post-test antara kedua kelas tersebut, yang menegaskan bahwa antusiasme yang lebih tinggi berkorelasi dengan kinerja akademik yang lebih baik. Temuan ini menyiratkan bahwa menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung dan interaktif melalui strategi seperti pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan gamifikasi dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa dan hasil belajar.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a problem-based science practicum guide intended for grade VIII junior high school students in the first semester. The problem-based approach was chosen because it has proven effective in enhancing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This research employed the 4D method, encompassing the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The findings indicate that the problem-based practicum guide developed meets the criteria for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validity score reached 4.2, indicating it meets the valid criteria, while the practicality score reached 4.6, classifying it as practical. Additionally, the guide’s effectiveness is demonstrated by a positive student response rate of 84.8%. The final product from this research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in conducting problem-based science learning, thereby supporting improvements in the quality of science education in schools.

Abstract

Memiliki kemampuan mengutip berbagai literatur dengan tepat merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang perlu dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Aplikasi Mandeley merupakan salah satu aplikasi yang mendukung mahasiswa untuk melakukan sitasi berbagai referensi secara efektif dan efisien. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini yaitu mengenalkan kepada mahasiswa mengenai aplikasi mandeley, jenis – jenis, manfaat, dan cara menggunakannya dalam menulis karya Ilmiah dan Skripsi. Jenis aplikasi yang dipraktekkan pada kegiatan ini yaitu Mendeley Reference Manager dan Mendeley Cite. Peserta pada pelatihan yaitu mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia FMIPA UNM sebanyak 38 orang. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawab, simulasi, dan praktek. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta sangat antusias dan terlibat aktif selama proses pelatihan berlangsung. Selanjutnya mahasiswa mampu menggunakan fitur – fitur umum aplikasi Mandeley khususnya dalam menginput literatur, melakukan sitasi, dan menulis daftar Pustaka

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara sistematis literatur yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan instrumen psikomotorik untuk menilai keterampilan laboratorium kimia. Tinjauan ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan proses pencarian literatur, seleksi dan kriteria Inklusi, analisis data, sintesis temuan. Fokus utama dari tinjauan ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis instrumen psikomotorik, validitas, reliabilitas, serta keefektifan penggunaannya dalam praktik laboratorium kimia. Dari 25 artikel yang diperoleh, hanya 15 artikel relevan yang dipublikasikan dalam lima tahun terakhir yang dipilih untuk dianalisis sesuai dengan kriteria yang ditetapkan. Hasil tinjauan menunjukkan bahwa instrumen psikomotorik yang efektif melibatkan rubrik penilaian yang terstruktur, observasi, dan tes praktik. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa instrumen yang dikembangkan selain menilai keterampilan dasar siswa atau mahasiswa dalam melaksanakan proses praktikum, terdapat pula instrumen yang dikembangkan dengan mengukur keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan generik sains. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian lebih lanjut yaitu peneliti dapat mengembangkan instrument penilaian aspek psikomotorik yang berbasis teknologi.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ performance in the Cambridge Lower Secondary Test, especially in science subjects, after implementing the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition) learning model. The research subjects are ICP (International Class Program), totaling 16 students at SMP IT Albiruni Mandiri Makassar. The implementation of the AIR model is carried out since students are in stage 8 and continue to stage 9. The type of test for stages 7 and 8 is the Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Test. The stage 9 test type is the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. The test results are described in the form of grades, namely Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At stage 7, the percentage of students who received Bronze was 68.75%, Silver 31.25%, and Gold 0.00%. There was a significant increase in stage 8, with 37.50% who got Bronze, 18.75% got Silver, and 43.75% got Gold. Then at stage 9, there was an increase of 68.75% of students who got Gold, 12.50% got Silver, and 18.75% got Bronze

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between students' cognitive abilities and their laboratory skills. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a correlational study design. The subjects of the study were 32 students from the Chemistry Education program. The laboratory skills assessed were related to activities in the Basic Chemistry laboratory, as this course integrates both classroom learning and laboratory practice. Cognitive ability data were obtained from quizzes, midterm exams, and final exams, while laboratory skills data were collected from assessments of pre-laboratory activities (assistance and response), laboratory experiment performance, practical reports, and a final exam conducted after all practical units were completed. The data analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between cognitive abilities and laboratory skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.65.

Abstract

Penginapan wisata, homestay dengan spot wisata merupakan salah satu faktor penyebab timbulnya Food Waste. Limbah makanan atau Food Waste didefinisikan sebagai pangan berlebih adalah pangan kaya organik yang masih dalam kondisi baik dan aman, namun berpotensi terbuang atau dimusnahkan jika tidak dimanfaatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat terhadap Food Waste dan penanggulangan limbah makanan pada destinasi wisata Pantai di desa Cikoang, Kabupaten Takalar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu penyuluhan, diskusi, dan tanya jawab. Teknik penentuan peserta yaitu purposive sampling dengan memperhatikan banyaknya jumlah wisatawan yang berkunjung ke objek wisata Pantai di PPLH Puntondo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa edukasi Food Waste dan penanggulangannya cukup efektif meningkatkan pemahaman peserta pelatihan dengan skor rerata N-Gain sebesar 0,58 pada interpretasi sedang.
