Abstract

Background. Research entitled "Plumpness Index and Body Conformation Index of Male Saperan Goats on Indigofera sp. Based Feeding." has been held from May 5, 2021 until July 11, 2021 at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Animal Science, Jenderal Soedirman University. The purpose of the study was examine the benefits of Indigofera sp. on the plumpness index and body conformation index as a substitute for commercial concentrate at male Sapera goats. Materials and methods. Materials used were 18 male Sapera goats, aged 8-12 months and have weight of 18-25 kg, fresh Indigofera sp., dried Indigofera sp., commercial concentrate, field grass, water. The goat pen that used was an individual type stage cage along with feeding trough and drinking bucket, rulers, metlines, pen, book and scales. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 3 treatments with 6 replications, so there were 18 experimental units. The treatments were P0 (50% field grass + 50% commercial concentrate), P1 (50% field grass + 20% commercial concentrate + 30% Indigofera sp. fresh), P2 (50% field grass + 20% commercial concentrate + 30 % dried Indigofera sp.). The results of the average plumpness index of P0 were (0.91 ± 0.10), P1 were (0.94 ± 0.05), P2 were (0.98 ± 0.06). The results of the average body conformation index of P0 were (0.28 ± 0.008), P1 were (0.30 ± 0.006), P2 were (0.28 ± 0.004). Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that Indigofera sp. had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the plumpness index but had a significant effect (P<0.01) on body conformation index. HSD test results showed P1 (Indigofera sp. fresh) as the best for the body conformation index of male Sapera goats. Conclusion. In conclusion, Indigofera sp. feeding does not reduce the productivity of male Sapera goats but it can be used as a substitute for commercial concentrates up to 60% of commercial concentrates.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari penyusutan bobot badan dan frekuensi respirasi pada sapi Bali yang dipengaruhi oleh transportasi ternak. Materi dan metode. Materi yang digunakan adalah sapi Bali sebanyak 44 ekor untukdiukur penyusutan bobot badannya dan 5 ekor untuk diukur frekuensi respirasinya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa rataan penyusutan bobot badan sapi Bali pada pengiriman pertama dan kedua adalah 11,95 ± 3.77 % dan 12,53 ± 2.74 %. Penyusutan bobot badan sapi Bali disebabkan karena selama transportasi sapi mengalami stress dan kehilangan banyak cairan tubuh. Kemudian untuk rataan frekuensi respirasi sapi Bali sebesar 39,8 ± 4.02 kali/menit. Frekuensi respirasi dipengaruhi oleh aktifitas fisik berupa transportasi ternak yang menyebabkan ternak stress dan gelisah yang menyebabkan peningkatan frekuensi respirasi pada ternak. Simpulan. Transportasi ternak selama tiga hari dapat menyebabkan penyusutan bobot badan 11,95 ± 3.77 % sampai 12,53 ± 2.74 % dan meningkatkan frekuensi respirasi.

Abstract

Lingkungan di sekitar lapas perlu dijaga kebersihannya terutama dalam pengelolaan sampah dapur agar dapat meningkatkan status kesehatan warga binaanya. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan warga binaan dalam mengelola sampah dapur. Sasaran pengabdian ini adalah warga binaan sejumlah 20 orang. Sampah dapur dapat diubah menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC), yang kemudian dapat digunakan untuk memupuk tanaman di sekitar lapas seperti sayuran, kacang-kacangan dan aneka tanaman untuk mendukung program keberlanjutan pangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah identifikasi masalah, sosialisasi, praktik demonstrasi dan evaluasi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa informasi tentang POC 65% pernah di dengar oleh peserta sebelumnya. Manfaat POC hanya diketahui oleh 50% peserta. Sebanyak 55% peserta mengetahui cara aplikasi POC pada tanaman, namun hanya 20% peserta yang mengetahui cara membuat POC. Setelah dilakukan pengabdian sebanyak 100% peserta mengaku tertarik dan sebanyak 90% peserta dapat membuat POC. Disimpulkan bahwa warga lapas Narkotika Nusakambangan tertarik membuat POC dan sebagian besar dapat membuatnya setelah dilakukan pengabdian dengan kualitas POC yang baik.

Abstract

The Gatos Farmers’ Group, as a pioneer of organic rice cultivation in Sumpiuh, has faced challenges due to the limited availability of high-quality and affordable organic fertilizers. At the same time, goat manure generated from local livestock farming has not yet been optimally utilized. This community service activity was designed to enhance farmers’ capacity in processing goat manure into organic fertilizer through participatory training. A total of 25 organic rice farmers, all members of the Gatos Farmers’ Group, took part in this program. The method consisted of three stages: preparation (observation and focused group discussions), implementation (technical training and hands-on practice), and post-training assistance. Evaluation results indicated a 41% increase in participants’ understanding, as reflected in the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores. The participatory training approach not only improved the knowledge and technical skills of organic rice farmers in producing their own organic fertilizer but also fostered the integration of crop–livestock farming systems that support the application of a circular economy at the local level.ABSTRACTKelompok Tani Gatos sebagai pionir budidaya padi organik di Kelurahan Sumpiuh, Kabupaten Banyumas, menghadapi kendala keterbatasan pupuk organik berkualitas dengan biaya terjangkau. Di sisi lain, limbah kotoran kambing dari peternakan masyarakat belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas petani dalam mengolah kotoran kambing menjadi pupuk organik melalui pelatihan partisipatif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini melibatkan 25 orang petani padi organik yang merupakan anggota Kelompok Tani Gatos. Metode yang digunakan meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu persiapan (observasi dan diskusi terarah), pelaksanaan (pelatihan teknis dan praktik langsung), serta pendampingan pasca-pelatihan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 41% berdasarkan perbandingan nilai pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan pelatihan dengan pendekatan partisipatif ini berhasil pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani padi organik dalam memproduksi pupuk organik mandiri, sekaligus menciptakan integrasi pertanian-terpadu yang mendukung ekonomi sirkular di tingkat lokal.

Abstract

Background. The purpose of this research is to test the accuracy of Winter formula for estimating body weight and get winter modification formula for Bali Flores cattle. Materials and Methods. Study has been done by using survey method. The material for this research by using 30 bulls which age about 2 years old with medium size weight. Parameter examined are body weight, body length, and heart girth. Data analysis has been done by using paired sample t-test. Results. The result of this research shows Winter formula is the most suitable for Bali Flores cattle is by replacing denominator into 323. Simpulan. Modified Winter formula can be used as the alternative of Bali Flores cattle body weight estimation.

Abstract

Background. The purpose of this studied was to determine the effect of addied phosphorus to phosphorus level and C/N ratio on the process of solid organic fertilizer decomposition. Materials and Methods. The research material used were fresh beef cattle feces, sawdust, activator, lime dolomite and phosphorus. It were used hoe, scale and a set of laboratory equipment to test P and C/N ratio. The research methodology was an experimental study using a complete random design (RAL) with 3 repeated treatments 6 times. The parameters measured are phosphorus level and C/N ratio of solid organic fertilizer. Results. The results showed that with phosphorus fortification had a very noticeable effect on phosphorus levels (P < 0.01) and a noticeable effect on the C/N ratio level (P < 0.05). Results of the phosphorus level reached 4,08% and C/N ratios of 22,88. Conclusion. The conclusion of the studied was phosphorus fortification can increase P level and reduce C/N ratio of solid organic fertilizer made from beef cattle feces.
