Abstract

Teaching English to elementary school students (SD) was created as an extracurricular activity. However, impediments such as instructor capacity or aptitude, as well as school conditions, can demotivate children from learning English. This community service project (PKM) seeks to provide English language help to elementary school children in Wajo Regency in their extracurricular English learning. The goal of the project is to develop a fun and fascinating English teaching and learning process and method at Wajo Inpres Elementary School through online tools like Zoom, WhatsApp Group, and Google Classroom (impact of the COVID-19 pandemic). Pammana Subdistrict, Wajo Regency, was very successful or experienced an increase, particularly in speaking and listening, as evidenced by the results of the pre-test listening (53.87 percent) and speaking (55.32 percent) after doing the post-test. Increased listening (81.6 percent) and speaking (55.32 percent) after doing the post-test (82.3 percent).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tahap pengembangan media pembelajaran kartu pertanyaan dan untuk mengetahui validasi, praktikalitas dan efektivitas pengembangan media pembelajaran kartu pertanyaan untuk materi IPS Kenampakan Alam kelas V MI Islam Datok Sulaiman palopo. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan penelitian pengembangan atau metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Subjek penelitian adalah adalah siswa kelas V MI Islam Datok Sulaiman. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah: 1) Wawancara, 2) Dokumentasi, 3) Angket, 4) Validasi Ahli, 5) Tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil analisis kebutuhan dan tahap pengembangan di kelas V MI Datok Sulaiman, ditemukan bahwa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah tersebut terdapat kebutuhan untuk menghadirkan inovasi baru dalam media pembelajaran. Salah satu bentuk inovasi yang diperlukan adalah media kartu pertanyaan (question card). Validasi media pembelajaran dikembangkan menunjukkan tingkat validitas yang tinggi. Ahli media mendapatkan persentase validitas sebesar 77% dengan kategori valid. Ahli materi memberikan nilai persentase 90%, ahli bahasa memberikan nilai persentase 85% dengan kategori sangat valid. Hasil uji kepraktisan yang diuji cobakan kepada siswa sebanyak 20 orang menunjukkan nilai 84% dan dari guru kelas II dengan nilai akhir dari hasil uji kepraktisan mencaai 92% dengan kategori sangat praktis Hasil uji keefektifan mengenai media kartu pertanyaan (question card) diperoleh rata-rata skor pretest siswa adalah 71,25%, sedangkan rata-rata posttest siswa adalah 90% dengan kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to improve students' reading comprehension using a Reciprocal Teaching Strategy in the fourth semester of IAI As'adiyah Sengkang's English education. The researcher used a pre-experimental design that included a pretest and a posttest. The sample comprised of 20 students drawn from IAI As'adiyah Sengkang's fourth semester English education students utilizing a cluster random selection approach. This study used a 20-item multiple-choice reading test as the research tool. Pre-test and post-test data were obtained. The data analysis revealed that the mean score of the students' pre-tests was 59, 29 and the mean score of the post-test was 77,62. It was discovered that pupils' reading comprehension improved after undergoing Reciprocal Teaching treatment (0.05). The researcher concluded that Reciprocal Teaching Strategy was appropriate in teaching reading comprehension at IAI As'adiyah Sengkang's fourth semester of English education. The reciprocal Teaching technique can be used as an alternative strategy in the teaching and learning process by English teachers and other scholars.

Abstract

The objective of this report was to determine whether or not the utilization of Outdoor Learning techniques is beneficial in increasing students' vocabulary knowledge at IAI As'adiyah Sengkang's sixth semester of English instruction. This study uses a pre-Experimental design to attain its goal. This study's population comprised 13 students in their sixth semester of English education at IAI As'adiyah Sengkang. Purposive sampling was employed by the researcher. SPSS version 24 was used to analyze the data. The pre-test and post-test results demonstrated considerable improvement. The experimental post-test mean score of the students (78.25) was greater than the pre-test mean score of (53.85). Furthermore, the post-test t-test result was 0.00, which was less than (α) = 0.05 when examined with SPSS. As a result, it is concluded that Outdoor Learning is beneficial in improving the vocabulary mastery of sixth-semester English students IAI As'adiyah Sengkang.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to discover the extent to which (1) the use of fishbone can influence the students’ descriptive writing skills and (2) to see which of the five aspects of writing is enhanced the most when utilizing fishbone. A quasi-experimental approach was used in this study. The study took place at Public Senior High School, Gowa, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The sample size for the study was 62 students, whereas the experimental and control classes had 31 students, respectively. The data was obtained using a written test as a pre-test and post-test for both classes, and the test results were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 program. The results revealed that two components of writing were improved by the application of the fishbone method, namely content, and organization, while the other components were not improved. It refers to the probability value (0.052) being greater than or equal to the significance level (= 0.05). While, the variant score of the five writing components showed that the probability value (0.00) was lower than the significant value (0.05), the mean score of the five writing components indicated that organization was higher than others. That leads to the conclusion that (1) the application of the fishbone method did not improve the students’ descriptive writing skills and (2) the highest improvement of the five writing components was organization.

Abstract

The main goal of the study was to determine whether or not students in the second year of Boarding School Putra II Sengkang's academic year 2019–2020 can improve their speaking abilities by drawing on personal experience. It was pre-experimental research in this study. The researcher selected VIII.B with 30 students for this study using a cluster random sampling approach. The research's primary tool was a speaking exam. The speaking exam was intended to determine if the second-year students at Boarding School Putra II Sengkang had improved their speaking abilities. The findings of this study show that after treating students with personal experience, their speaking abilities significantly improved. The value (Sig. 2 tailed) was used to demonstrate the point. With a level of significance (α) of 0.05 and a degree of freedom (df) of N-1 = 30, the value (Sig. 2 tailed) is 0.000. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was approved as a result. Based on the findings, the researcher draws the conclusion that the students' speaking abilities were considerably impacted by the application of personal experience, indicating that personal experience helps students talk more clearly.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine whether or not the second-year students at MTs As'adiyah Putri 1 Sengkang benefit from using animation videos to expand their vocabulary. The pre-experimental approach was used by the researcher, who used a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The second year of MTs As'adiyah Putri 1 Sengkang in the academic year 2020–2021 made up the study's population. The information was gathered via a vocabulary exam (pre-test and post-test). Cluster random sampling was employed as the sampling method. The researcher conducted a t-test study to determine whether or not the usage of video as a teaching tool improved students' vocabulary. The examination of the data revealed a substantial difference between the pre-test and post-tests. It was demonstrated by the significance value of 0.000, which was lower than the level of significance (α) = 0.05. The average post-test score (84.50) exceeded the average pre-test score (52.90). Based on the study's data and analysis, the author came to the conclusion that employing video as a teaching tool improved the vocabulary of second-year MTs As'adiyah Putri 1 Sengkang.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the speaking issues second semester English education students at the Islamic Institute of Religion (IAI) As' Adiyah Sengkang encountered that prevented students from speaking English and the solutions employed by English education students to address those issues. In the second semester of the Islamic Institute (IAI) As'adiyah Sengkang, 12 English education students participated in a qualitative study that includes this research. Interviews, questionnaires, and observation served as the research tools. The findings indicated that the second-semester English education students' speaking issues were due to a lack of vocabulary mastery, a lack of confidence, pronunciation issues, feelings of embarrassment and fear of making mistakes, nervousness, and a habit of speaking in their native tongue. Students in the second semester of English education employ the following methods to improve their speaking abilities: learning English through songs and movies, practicing a lot, and remaining calm.

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul Pembelajaran Matematika Dengan Pendekatan Penemuan Terbimbing untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis, dan Kreatif Siswa SMA (Studi Kuasi Eksperimen Pada Siswa Kelas XI SMA Pasundan 8 Kota Bandung), dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnyakemampuanberpikirkritisdankreatif yang merupakanpermasalahankomplek dalam pembelajaran matematika. Hal ini mengakibatkan rendahnya prestasi siswa pada penguasaan matematika. Apabila kondisi ini dibiarkan terus-menerus tanpa ada upaya untuk memperbaiki, dikhawatirkan siswa tidak akan berkompetensi dalam menguasai sains dan teknologi yang menjadi tuntutan jaman. Untuk itu, diperlukan berbagai upaya, diantaranya dengan menerapkan metode penemuan terbimbing dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian ini diperoleh, dengan wawancara, angket, observasi, dantestulis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain: quasi eksperimen non-equivalent gruops pretest-posttest design dimana kelompok eksperimen maupun kelompok kontrol tidak dipilih secara random. Teknik pengambilan sampel, bentuk Purposive Sampling, dengan subyek sampel siswa SMA kelas XI IPA. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa: Penerapan model pembelajaran melalui pendekatan penemuan terbimbing memberikan kontribusi positif padapeningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis kreatif matematika, sikap, dan aktivitas siswa, dibanding dengan siswa yang belajar matematika dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Simpulan penelitian adalah melalui pendekatan penemuan terbimbing dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu model pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif matematika, sikap dan aktivitas siswa.

Abstract

Entitled Learning Mathematics with Guided Discovery Approach for Improving Critical Thinking Skills, and Creative High School Students, motivated by the lack of ability critical and creative thinking which are complex problems in mathematics learning.This resulted in low student achievement in math mastery.If the condition is left continuously without any attempt to fix, it is concerned that students will not be competent in mastering science and technology demanded by age. Therefore, a variety of efforts, including by implementing guided discovery method in this study. The data were obtained by interviews, questionnaires observation and writing test. The method used is the method of experimental quasi with desain: quasi experimental nonequivalent groups pretest-posttest design in which the experimental group and the control group were not chosen at random. Technique of sampling, form Purposive Sampling, with samples of high school students of class XI Sains. These results indicate that: Implementation of the model learning through approach of guided discovery method provides a positive contribution to the improvement of creative critical thinking ability of mathematics, attitudes, and activities of students, compared with students who study mathematics with conventional learning. Conclusions of research is through approach of guided discovery method can be used as a model of learning to improve thinking ability critical and creative of mathematics, attitudes and activities of students.
