Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether there is a relationship between economic well-being and mental health when viewed from the perspective of Islamic economics, which is based on QS. Al-Quraish verses 3-4 have clearly shown that Islamic economics includes non-material or spiritual factors that are not present in the conventional view. The results of this study indicate that: 1) in Islam success is not only about wealth or material things, it can be in the form of physical and mental health and (spiritual) peace of mind that arises because of monotheism, 2) fulfillment of one's consumption needs can also be one of the indicators that can keep a person's mental health maintained, 3) Each individual has their own anxieties, and the solution for them to overcome their fears and anxieties to continue to obtain spiritual well-being in life in general is to return to the values of monotheism or beliefs mentioned in the welfare indicator the first Islamic economy and it turns out that each of these indicators synergizes with each other.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of liquidity on tax avoidance, considering capital structure as an intervening variable, with a focus on banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The independent variable analyzed is liquidity, measured by the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), while tax avoidance serves as the dependent variable, represented by the Effective Tax Rate (ETR). The capital structure, acting as the intervening variable, is assessed using the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER). The study population comprises all banking companies listed on the IDX during the period from 2019 to 2023. A quantitative approach is utilized, employing purposive sampling to select 10 banking companies that satisfy the relevant criteria for the study. Data analysis is performed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) through the SmartPLS version 4.0 software. The findings indicate that: 1) Liquidity has a significant effect on tax avoidance; 2) Liquidity significantly influences capital structure; 3) Capital structure positively affects tax avoidance; and 4) Liquidity significantly impacts tax avoidance through capital structure.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the embodiment of Makkunrai values among professional women in South Sulawesi and their influence on Human Resource Management (HRM) practices. Drawing upon indigenous wisdom from Bugis-Makassar culture, Makkunrai encapsulates virtues such as integrity, empathy, humility, and spiritual consciousness—values that subtly shape leadership behavior, workplace ethics, and interpersonal relationships. Using an interpretative phenomenological approach, this research involved in-depth interviews with ten professional women across various organizational contexts. The findings reveal that Makkunrai values not only reinforce ethical leadership and emotional intelligence but also serve as a moral compass guiding decision-making and conflict resolution within the workplace. Furthermore, the study highlights how these local values can harmonize with global HRM principles, creating a culturally grounded framework for sustainable human capital development. The integration of indigenous ethics with modern management systems provides both theoretical insights and practical implications for promoting inclusive, value-driven HRM in Indonesia’s evolving professional landscape.
