Abstract

Evaluation of student abilities in Biology subjects often faces challenges in ensuring that the instruments used actually measure what they are supposed to measure. The data analysis used is the Rasch model, which is part of item response theory, offering a more accurate approach in analyzing evaluation data. This model allows the identification of items that are inappropriate or too difficult, as well as providing more in-depth information about individual student abilities.  Through analysis of instruments and question items from 30 multiple choice questions that emphasize critical thinking skills, the aim of this research is to assess the quality of Biology questions for class X SMA. Testing was carried out using WinStep software and Rasch modeling analysis on 166 students from five high schools/vocational schools. The research method used is quantitative. The results of the instrument investigation show that the issue has very good dependability and the unidimensionality of the instrument is indicated by unexplained changes in the first differentiation. These results show that the Rasch test can help educators in selecting questions that meet the evaluation criteria and contribute to improving the quality of national education. The implications of this research are By applying the Rasch Model, educators can develop more accurate and fair evaluation tools, which are able to identify individual student difficulties and strengths.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Implementasi Program Pembinaan Karakter di SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir”, bertujuan ingin mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi implementasi program pembinaan karakter di SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, triangulasi dan hasilnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, yaitu meneliti pada kondisi obyek yang alamiah, sedangkan peneliti adalah instrumen kunci, pengambilan sampel sumber data dilakukan secara perposive dan snowball, teknik pengumpulan dengan triangulasi (gabungan), analisis data bersifat induktif/kualitatif, dan hasil penelitian kualitatif lebih menekankan makna dari pada generalisasi. Dalam kajian ini diupayakan mendasar dan mendalam berorientasi pada studi kasus. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan (Field Research) berdasarkan pendekatan formisme (kenyataan yang ada). Untuk itu, tidak lepas dari berbagai data yang diperoleh berdasarkan penelitian lapangan. Dalam mendapatkan sumber data dalam penelitian ini penulis tetapkan kepala sekolah, wakil kurikulum, wakil kesiswaan, guru bimbingan dan konseling, wali kelas, guru bidang studi dan siswa. Mereka adalah subyek dalam penelitian ini. Implementasi program pembinaan karakter dalam penelitian ini dapat dilakukan melalui perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Perencanaan pembinaan karakter dengan adanya kegiatan-kegiatan pengembangan diri seperti : OSIS, Pramuka, Tapak Suci dan PMR. Pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter dengan memperhatikan langkah-langkahnya melalui prinsip-prinsip penerapan pendidikan karakter dan evaluasi dengan dibuktikan adanya nilai-nilai karakter yang ditanamkan dalam kegiatan pengembangan dirinya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' scientific argumentation skills in the context of environmental change using Toulmin's Argument Pattern. The topic of environmental change was selected due to its contemporary relevance and inherent complexity, which necessitates robust argumentation. The participants consisted of 76 Phase E (10th grade) students at SMAN 1 Koto XI Tarusan, selected through random sampling. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, with data collected through seven argumentative essay questions and student interviews. The responses were assessed using a rubric based on Toulmin’s components: claim, data, warrant, backing, and rebuttal. The findings revealed that 76% of students exhibited weak argumentation skills, 17% demonstrated moderate proficiency, and only 7% performed at a strong level. The study provides a comprehensive overview of students' argumentation abilities and identifies strengths and weaknesses in their application of Toulmin’s framework. The implications of this research highlight the need for developing more effective instructional strategies to enhance students' scientific argumentation skills, particularly in addressing environmental issues.

Abstract

Education plays an important role in preparing students to face the challenges of the 21st century, one of which is through improving scientific literacy. However, the results of a pre-research questionnaire showed that 70.1% of phase E students at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Koto Baru rarely read materials or work on questions based on scientific literacy, and 50.5% of students had never heard of the term scientific literacy. This has impacted students’ low ability to explain scientific phenomena and interpret data scientifically. Therefore, learning innovations are needed, such as the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by color coding to improve students’ scientific literacy skills, particularly on the topic of environmental change. This research is quantitative research with an experimental design using a Randomized Control-Group Posttest Only Design. The study population consisted of all phase E students at SMAN 1 Pangkalan, with a sample of two classes randomly selected. The experimental class received treatment using the PBL model assisted by color coding, while the control class used a conventional learning model. Data were collected through a scientific literacy ability posttest and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by color coding had a significant effect on improving students’ scientific literacy skills. This is indicated by the average posttest score of the experimental class, which was 79.43, higher than that of the control class, which was 68.22. This study concludes that the PBL model assisted by color coding is effective in improving the scientific literacy skills of phase E students on the topic of environmental change at SMAN 1 Pangkalan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see if there is an effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by mindmapping on the critical thinking skills of students in high school biology learning. This research is quasi experiment with a two group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all E phase students of SMAN 1 Timpeh in the 2023/2024 school year which amounted to 124 people consisting of 4 classes. Furthermore, the determination of the sample to be used as an experimental class and control class using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used in this study were tests. The test used in this study was a test of students' critical thinking skills through pretest and posttest. Data analysis activities consist of data processing and statistical analysis activities. The results showed that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by mindmapping had a positive effect on the critical thinking skills of students in high school biology learning, where the results of hypothesis testing using the independent sample t-test showed that the significance (2-tailed) was 0.000 which means <0.05 and the average value of critical thinking skills based on pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class increased by 23.4%.

Abstract

21st century education aims to improve students' scientific literacy skills. The results of the PISA study show that Indonesian students' scientific literacy is in the low category. The low level of student scientific literacy is caused by several factors in the education system, such as the curriculum, teachers and students themselves. This research aims to see the effect of the model Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Biology learning on students' scientific literacy abilities at SMAN 2 Pulau Punjung based on three aspects of scientific literacy, namely aspects of context, knowledge and competence. This research is experimental research with methods like an experiment. The research sample consisted of 70 students consisting of two classes taken using engineering purposive sampling. The instrument used is a scientific literacy test. The data analysis techniques used are divided into three, namely normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. Based on the research results, it is known that the hypothesis test results obtained were 0.000 < 0.05. This shows that there is an influence of the PBL model on students' scientific literacy abilities in Biology learning at SMAN 2 Pulau Punjung. This can be seen in the average value of the scientific literacy abilities of students taught using the PBL model which is higher than the average scientific literacy abilities of students taught using the learning model. discovery learning

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui literasi lingkungan peserta didik dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning. Peserta didik memiliki pemahaman yang masih rendah mengenai literasi lingkungan dan penerapan model pembelajaran yang kurang efektif. Model pembelajaran yang diterapkan di SMAN 7 Tebo umumnya belum menerapkan model pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan Kurikulum Merdeka. Jenis penelitian yaitu eksperimen semu atau Quasy Experimental. Dalam penelitian digunanakan dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dengan model Problem Based Learning dan kelas kontrol dengan model Discovery Learning. Penentuan sampel menggunakan Purposive Sampling. Teknik analisis data yaitu uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan bantuan SPSS 20. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh hasil peserta didik kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hasil uji hipotesis penelitian dilihat dari nilai signifikansi 2-tailed < 0,05 yaitu 0,00. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis terdapat pengaruh positif model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning terhadap literasi lingkungan fase E SMAN 7 Tebo.

Abstract

Adolescents' knowledge about maintaining a healthy excretory system is still low on average. One way to increase students' knowledge is to implement the use of learning resources that promote and prevent health problems of the excretory system in school learning. This research aims to determine the effect of using an integrated booklet on the preventive value of human excretory system material on student learning outcomes. This type of research is quasi-experimental research with a posttest only control design. The instrument used to measure student learning outcomes is in the form of multiple choice questions. The sample class was selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data analysis using the Man-Whitney test obtained a significance result of (0.000) < α value (0.05), so it can be concluded that the use of an integrated booklet with the preventive value of human excretory system material has a positive effect on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Implementation of the learning process is a way to achieve educational goals. Learning media can support the learning process and function as well as possible. Student Worksheets are one type of effective learning resource. Designing LKPD using the Prolem Based Learning (PBL) model integrated into it is one way to inspire students to be actively involved in biology learning. The LKPD produced with an emphasis on problem solving is a LKPD that can be used in learning. Through a study of various journal papers that are related to each other and published between 2016 and 2024, this research uses descriptive research in the form of a literature review. Referenced papers are published in Indonesian and English and can be found in a number of media databases, including Google Scholar and Science Direct. PBL integrated worksheet has an impact on the teaching and learning process, according to the findings of the article review, because it helps students become aware of the dangers of the environment around them. Considering that integrated problem based learning (PBL) LKPD can improve students' critical thinking, it can be said to be suitable for use in biology learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on Discovery Learning through a literature review. LKPD based on Discovery Learning is one of the effective learning media to improve critical thinking skills, problem solving, and students' understanding of concepts independently. The method used in this study is a literature review by examining various reference sources related to the development of LKPD, the application of the Discovery Learning model, and its impact on student learning outcomes from the Google scholar database from 2017 to 2023. The results of the review show that the development of LKPD based on Discovery Learning has a positive influence on the learning process, by increasing active participation and deeper understanding of the material. In addition, analysis of various studies shows challenges in implementation, such as time constraints, teacher readiness, and curriculum adaptation. Therefore, training is needed for educators and adjustments to LKPD to make it easier to apply in various classroom conditions. This study is expected to be a reference for the development of LKPD that is more effective and innovative in supporting Discovery Learning-based learning in schools.
