Abstract

nt This study, entitled “Kal?m Amr: The Literal and Figurative Meanings”, investigates the linguistic and rhetorical dimensions of Kal?m Amr—imperative speech in Arabic—as discussed in the field of ‘Ilm al-Bal?ghah. The issue is significant because the Qur’an, as the pinnacle of Arabic eloquence, employs Kal?m Amr not only to express commands but also to convey deeper meanings such as advice, threat, or supplication. Previous research has tended to focus on grammatical or syntactical elements, leaving a conceptual gap in exploring semantic variations and contextual interpretation between ?aq?q? (literal) and maj?z?y (figurative) meanings. This study aims to fill that gap by analyzing the contextual shifts in meaning and communicative purposes behind imperative forms in Qur’anic discourse Using a qualitative-descriptive and library-based method, this study examines classical and contemporary Arabic rhetorical works, including key texts such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and classical tafsir. The data was collected through a documentation study, where various written sources, including books, journal articles, and religious texts, were gathered and reviewed. Data analysis was performed using thematic and comparative approaches, focusing on the shifts in meaning and communicative purposes behind imperative forms in Qur’anic discourse. To ensure the validity of the findings, textual indicators (qar?’in) were identified and cross-checked with multiple sources to account for potential variations in interpretation. This triangulation method helped to validate the interpretations and strengthen the study's conclusions.The findings reveal that Kal?m Amr extends beyond literal instruction, encompassing diverse rhetorical functions shaped by social, theological, and communicative contexts. The study concludes that understanding the distinction between ?aq?q? and maj?z?y meanings enriches the interpretative depth of Qur’anic language and enhances appreciation of its aesthetic and spiritual eloquence.

Abstract

Arabic language education at the An Nahdlah Islamic Boarding School in Makassar faces challenges in improving the Arabic language literacy of students, particularly in speaking and writing skills. This community service program aims to strengthen Arabic literacy thru extracurricular activities based on direct practice and experience. The program implementation methods include interactive training, thematic discussions, the use of digital learning applications, and the strengthening of teaching methods for instructors. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the students' Arabic language skills, with 75% of the students feeling more confident in using Arabic after attending the training. Additionally, this program successfully created a supportive learning community, increased social interaction among students, and produced learning modules that can be used for Arabic language instruction in other pesantren. This program not only enhances Arabic language skills but also builds the character and self-confidence of the students as part of their identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges and solutions in the implementation of the al-Miftāh li al-‘Ulūm method in qawā‘id learning at the Nurul As’adiyah Parang Islamic Boarding School, Bantaeng Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the challenges and solutions in the application of the al-Miftāh li al-‘Ulūm method in qawā‘id learning: a case study at the Nurul As’adiyah Parang Islamic Boarding School, Bantaeng Regency. Descriptive research describes the phenomena that exist in the field, while qualitative research analyzes and interprets social activities, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions of individuals or groups. The results show that this study offers a five-step solution model to overcome the challenges of implementing the al-Miftāḥ li al-‘Ulūm method in qawā‘id learning, namely habituation, providing motivation, filtration, classifying students based on ability, and adding teaching staff. This model is a new contribution because it has not been formulated systematically in previous studies that generally only focus on the effectiveness of learning methods.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tantangan dan solusi dalam penerapan metode al-Miftāh li al-‘Ulūm dalam pembelajaran qawā‘id di Pondok Pesantren Nurul As’adiyah Parang Kabupaten Bantaeng. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk menganalisis tantangan dan solusi dalam penerapan metode al-Miftāh li al-‘Ulūm dalam pembelajaran qawā‘id: studi kasus di Pondok Pesantren Nurul As’adiyah Parang Kabupaten Bantaeng. Penelitian deskriptif menggambarkan fenomena yang ada di lapangan, sedangkan penelitian kualitatif menganalisis dan menginterpretasi aktivitas sosial, sikap, keyakinan, dan persepsi individu atau kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penelitian ini menawarkan model solusi lima langkah untuk mengatasi tantangan penerapan metode al-Miftāḥ li al-‘Ulūm dalam pembelajaran qawā‘id, yaitu habituasi, pemberian motivasi, filtrasi, pengklasifikasian santri berdasarkan kemampuan, serta penambahan tenaga pengajar. Model ini menjadi kontribusi baru karena belum dirumuskan secara sistematis dalam penelitian sebelumnya yang umumnya hanya berfokus pada efektivitas metode pembelajaran.

Abstract

This research provides an in-depth discussion of Uslūb Muqābalah, a rhetorical style in Arabic that involves contras or opposition of meaning within one or two interconnected sentences. The study aims to describe the definition of uslūb muqābalah, identify its varios forms, and explain its rhetorical and stylistic purposes in classical and contemporary Arabic texts. The research uses a descriptive-analytical approach by examining examples from the Qur’and Arabic literary works. The findings show that uslūb muqābalah not only enhances the aesthetic structure of sentences but also strengthens meaning through sharp contrasts, creates a powerful rhetorical effect, and aids in the reader’s pr listener’s comprehension and memorization. This research is expected to contribute to the study of Arabic rhetoric (balagah) and broaden the understanding of expressive richness in the Arabic language.
