Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between determinants of home environmental health, including ventilation, lighting, residential density, temperature and humidity, and home sanitation with the incidence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in the working area of the Johan Pahlawan Community Health Center (UPTD). The research method uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population is households that have family members with pulmonary TB based on the Puskesmas medical records, with a sample of 50 respondents determined using a purposive sampling technique . Data were collected through questionnaires and home observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistical tests, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS software version 26. The results of the study indicate that residential density has a positive and significant effect on the incidence of pulmonary TB, while home sanitation has a negative and significant effect on the incidence of pulmonary TB. Meanwhile, ventilation, lighting, and temperature and humidity do not show a statistically significant relationship with the incidence of pulmonary TB. The conclusion of this study confirms that residential density and home sanitation are the main determinants of the incidence of pulmonary TB, so that prevention efforts based on improving the home environment are needed to reduce the risk of pulmonary TB transmission in the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of the Environmental Agency (Environmental Service) of West Aceh Regency in addressing illegal dumping sites in Johan Pahlawan District based on Agus Dwiyanto's five dimensions of public organizational performance, namely productivity, service quality, responsiveness, responsibility, and accountability. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Eight informants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of main informants, supporting informants, and key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and data triangulation. The findings indicate that the Environmental Agency's strategy includes optimizing vehicle allocation and route distribution, scheduling operational activities, conducting patrols at illegal dumping hotspots, providing a WhatsApp-based complaint service, implementing standard operating procedures (SOP) for waste removal, enforcing the local Qanun through persuasive approaches and administrative responses, and applying digital reporting supported by before-and-after documentation. These strategies have improved the effectiveness of waste management services and enhanced environmental cleanliness at several illegal dumping sites. However, they have not fully prevented the recurrence of illegal dumping due to limited operational facilities, inconsistent law enforcement, and low public compliance. The study concludes that the effectiveness of illegal dumping management should be strengthened through hotspot-based monitoring, consistent enforcement of regulations, and increased participation of village governments and the community.

Abstract

A healthy home setting plays a vital role in supporting the developmental progress of children with special needs, while a mother's ability toestablish such conditions is strongly shaped by the level of knowledge and self-efficacy she possesses. This research was conducted toassess how effective home-based environmental health education is in enhancing maternal knowledge and self-efficacy among mothers who care for children with special needs at SLB Negeri Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency. Using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest format, the study involved 63 participants split into an experimental group (n=32) that receivededucational sessions delivered through home visits, and a control group (n=31) that received no such intervention. Statistical testing wascarried out using McNemar's test, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results revealed a statisticallysignificant rise in knowledge across both groups (p<0.001); however, the gain in self-efficacy proved more uniform within the experimental group, where every single participant demonstrated improvement, whereas the control group still included several participants whose scores declined. Comparisons made between the two groups following the intervention further confirmed that the experimental group attained markedly higher scores in both knowledge and self-efficacy relative to the control group (p<0.001). Overall, these outcomes suggest that home environmental health education serves as an effective means of boosting both maternal knowledge andself-efficacy, pointing to its viability as a family-centered promotive intervention model that other special-needs schools with comparable populations could potentially adopt.
