Abstract

Hypertension is a major public health problem that requires long-term management and high patient adherence, which remains a challenge at the primary health care level. This community service activity aimed to strengthen digital health literacy to improve hypertension management adherence among the community at Puskesmas Wua-Wua. The activity was conducted using a digital-based health education approach through direct counseling, distribution of educational leaflets equipped with QR codes, and evaluation using a comprehension questionnaire. The educational media contained information on hypertension management, medication adherence, and healthy lifestyle practices. The results showed that all participants positively accepted the digital literacy-based leaflet and perceived it as useful, easy to understand, and relevant to their needs. This activity indicates that integrating printed and digital educational media can effectively support hypertension management and strengthen promotive and preventive efforts in primary health care settings

Abstract

The rampant circulation of illegal cosmetics and low cosmetic safety literacy remain a problem among adolescents, increasing the risk of exposure to hazardous substances such as mercury and hydroquinone. In response, the Pharmacy Professional Education Study Program at Halu Oleo University, in collaboration with BPOM, conducted a community service activity at SMK Negeri 5 Kendari to improve students knowledge in choosing safe cosmetics. The activity was carried out through socialization and counseling using visual media, product inspection practices using the BPOM Mobile application, and the application of the KLIK (Packaging, Label, Distribution Permit, and Expiration) checking method. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-tests. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding in recognizing safe cosmetics and high enthusiasm from the participants. This activity emphasized the importance of continuing education to develop critical and safety-conscious cosmetic consumers

Abstract

The widespread use of traditional medicine in Indonesian communities is often not accompanied by adequate awareness of safety, legality, and rational use. This community service program, entitled “Stay Natural, Stay Safe”, aimed to enhance public awareness of proper and safe traditional medicine use through health literacy–based education in Anawai Village, Kendari City. The intervention employed a door-to-door pharmaceutical communication approach supported by printed educational leaflets as communication, information, and education (CIE) media. Activities were conducted through observation, educational counseling, practical demonstrations, and evaluation. The evaluation results showed a high level of community understanding, with a mean score of 4.49 and an achievement rate of 89.73%, categorized as very good. These findings indicate that health literacy–based education supported by leaflets effectively improves community awareness, confidence, and rational behavior in traditional medicine use and can serve as a sustainable community-based health promotion strategy.

Abstract

Adolescence is a vulnerable period for risky behaviors such as smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and unsafe social relationships. Limited health literacy often causes adolescents to perceive these behaviors as normal. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sawa regarding the dangers of smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and the risks of unsafe social behavior and HIV/AIDS. The activity was conducted on January 2026, at SMA Negeri 1 Sawa, Konawe Utara Regency, involving 40 twelfth-grade students. The methods used included interactive counseling, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, educational games, and simple demonstrations. The results showed an increase in students’ understanding of the dangers of smoking and vaping, the negative effects of alcohol consumption, and the risks associated with unsafe social behavior. Students began to understand that vaping is not a safe alternative to smoking and that risky behaviors may affect their reproductive health and future. The high level of student participation during the discussion indicated that an interactive approach is effective for adolescent health education.
