Abstract

Isolation and identification of compounds and pharmacological activity of the Micromelum minutum grown in some countries has been done, but the Indonesian M. minutum has not been studied, either phytochemically or pharmacologically. This study aimed to determine the cytotoxic activity of Indonesian M. minutum leave extracts toward MCF-7 and 4T1 breast cancer cell lines. The leaves were obtained from M. minutum grow in Bantimurung National Park, Bulusaraung, South Sulawesi, and then were macerated gradually in hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. The cytotoxic activity of obtained extracts was determined by MTT assay. The extraction yielded hexane (HEM), ethyl acetate (EEM), and methanol (MEM) extracts of 2.65, 6.12, and 6.49%, respectively. HEM was the most potent extract with IC50 values of 148 and 87 µg/mL on MCF-7 and 4T1 cells, respectively, followed by EEM (185 and 170 µg/mL). MEM possessed a weak potency with an IC50 value of 384 µg/mL on MCF-7 cells and was not toxic toward 4T1 cells. Therefore, HEM is important to be further investigated for its active constituents.

Abstract

Micromelum minutum is used widely in traditional folk medicine. Although this species has been investigated extensively and several bioactive compounds have been isolated, little work has been done on Indonesian M. minutum. This research aimed to study the chemical constituents and biological activities of M. minutum cultivated in Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The isolated compounds were assessed for their cytotoxicity towards MCF-7 and 4T1 cell lines by MTT method. The dried ground leaves of M. minutum were sequentially macerated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. The n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts contained a flavonoid 5,7-dihydroxy-3,4',8-trimethoxyflavone (1) which inhibited MCF-7 and 4T1 cell viability by 50% at concentrations of 369±8 and 227±5 µM, respectively. Further separation of the ethyl acetate extract by column chromatography yielded acetyldihydromicromelin A (2) and a mixture of dihydromicromelin A (3) and dihydromicromelin B (4), which were not active toward MCF-7 and 4T1 cells.

Abstract

Quality is compliance with predefined standards or following the requirements. Minimum Service Standards health in hospitals is very important to measure the hospital's performance of health services. This study aims to describe the quality of service at the Pharmacy Installation at Santa Anna Hospital, Kendari City during the Covid-19 pandemic based on five indicators of minimum pharmaceutical service standards are waiting time for drug services, the absence of errors in drug administration, writing prescriptions according to the formulary, patient satisfaction and availability of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). This study is observational research which is descriptive used cross sectional design. The sample was outpatients for 90 samples at Santa Anna Hospital, Kendari City, who fulfill the inclusion criteria. Instruments used questionnaire sheets and observation sheets. The results showed that the indicator of waiting time for concocted drugs and non-concocted drugs was 8 minutes and 4 minutes, respectively. There was no error in administering medications (100%). The suitability of prescription writing to the National Formulary was 99.73%, patient satisfaction to tangible dimensions and reliability dimensions were 82.23% and 84.84%, respectively. The responsiveness dimension was 79.65%, the assurance dimension was 83.54%, and the empathy dimension was 85.48%, and the availability of the standard operating procedure was 63.64%. This study's pharmacy installation at Santa Anna Hospital in Kendari City has not fulfilled the predetermined Minimum Service Standards.

Abstract

In early 2020, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). The number of positive cases of this virus continues to grow every day. Positive cases in Buton Tengah by 3 months increased up to 41 cases. Therefore the socialization of the mitigation and adaptation program of the people of Central of Buton during the COVID-19 outbreak needs to be done. The purpose is achievement of the ability to live a healthy life in the form of preventive measures to  faced covid-19 outbreak. Mitigation programs carried out are the Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS), clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), Community Movement using masks (GEMAS), TOGA and VCO, as well as the use of handsanitizers and disinfectants. The method was discourse directly to the public. The results obtained is increased public understanding of how to prevent COVID-19 infection in the mitigation program delivered. Conclusion is the mitigation socialization of COVID-19 received a very good response from the community, the residents felt very helped and there was an increase in community understanding and skills.

Abstract

Indonesian people have used herbal ingredients for health. However, there are differences in natural resources and knowledge of plant processing techniques in medicine which differ from region to region. This community service aims to increase public knowledge about the types of plants that can be cultivated in  Family Medicine Garden and their health benefits. Educational activities and the establishment of a Family Medicine Garden (TOGA) were held at the UHO Faculty of Pharmacy drug park. The method of educational activities is in the form of lectures and question-and-answer interactions, followed by manufacturing and planting medicinal plants at  Family Medicine Garden. Education is carried out by introducing the efficacy of 21 plants, the parts used and the benefits of  Family Medicine Garden. The activity went well, and the community was enthusiastic about getting new knowledge about types of plants and how to make  Family Medicine Garden.

Abstract

In order to accelerate recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in Kendari, South East Sulawesi, it is necessary to understand and be aware of the importance of maintaining health which starts with a healthy clean-living behaviour (PHBS) which starts from an early understanding of doing PHBS in elementary schools (SD).  Important indicators that become critical in this activity are how to wash hands well and group organic and inorganic waste. This activity is also a manifestation of the President's vision for 2020-2024 through the Ministry of Health to improve public health. This community service aims to increase public understanding and awareness, especially students of SD Islam Insan Unggul Kendari about the importance of carrying out healthy clean-living behaviour (PHBS). The method used is education by showing PHBS videos and socialization followed by interactive quizzes. This activity was easily well received by the participants because it used a learning-by-play approach so that the participants were easier to remember and apply in everyday life.

Abstract

Masyarakat Indonesia masa kini semakin sadar akan pentingnya kesehatan. Tubuh yang sehat maka dapat mendukung masyarakat Indonesia untuk mencapai taraf hidup yang lebih baik. Salah satu profesi yang bisa berperan dalam mewujudkan upaya kesehatan adalah profesi Apoteker. Dalam pelaksanaan upaya kesehatan, Apoteker memegang peranan penting demi tercapainya derajat kesehatan masyarakat yang setinggi-tingginya. Untuk menyempurnakan pembinaan Pendidikan kesehatan dan pelayanan perlu juga adanya apoteker cilik yang dapat menciptakan suasana sehat di lingkungan sekolah maupun di lingkungan rumah. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi kepada anak-anak usia dini di SD Satu Atap Kapulaga, Desa Kapulaga, Kecamatan Soropia, Kabupaten Konawe agar mengetahui profesi Apoteker serta tugasnyaApoteker memegang peranan penting demi tercapainya derajat kesehatan masyarakat yang setinggi-tingginya. Pembinaan program pendidikan kesehatan dan pelayanan kesehatan di usia sekolah terutama di tingkat sekolah dasar sudah mulai berkembang. Untuk menyempurnakan pendidikan kesehatan dan pelayanan tersebut perlu juga adanya pelatihan apoteker cilik demi membina generasi sejak dini. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah presentasi materi, games, pembagian snack, pemberian hadiah, serta pemasangan selempang Apoteker Cilik. Kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan pemahaman materi mengenai profesi Apoteker serta tugasnya yang dibuktikan dengan peningkatan pengetahuan setelah sosialisasi dan pemahaman anak-anak pesisir Desa Kapulaga mengenai profesi Apoteker.

Abstract

Rendahnya kualitas Kesehatan di Indonesia menjadikannya sebagai salah satu fokus utama pembangunan. Usia siswa sekolah dasar merupakan usia yang tepat untuk diberikan pengetahuan mengenai pentingnya penerapan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat. Tujuan dilakukannya pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa SDN 100 Kendari terhadap perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS). Metode penyampaian materi secara ceramah dengan media materi leaflet yang berisi pengenlan PHBS dan delapan indikator PHBS di sekolah, menonton bersama video gerakan cuci tangan yang benar. Pre-test dan post-test berupa kuis dilakukan sebelum dan setelah materi. Hasil edukasi PHBS terlihat siswa sangat antusias mengikuti jalannya sosialisasi pengenalan PHBS dan mampu memperagakan gerakan cuci tangan yang benar, serta siswa sangat bersemangat menjawab post-test yang diberikan. Kesimpulan melalui edukasi siswa dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai pentingnya penerapan delapan indikator Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat di sekolah dan cara cuci tangan yang benar

Abstract

Daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn. memiliki efek sebagai antidiabetes melitus, namun data terkait efeknya terhadap kondisi kelainan agregasi platelet karena komplikasi DM belum pernah dilaporkan. Oleh sebab itu, pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian antidiabetes dan antiagregasi platelet ekstrak etanol daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn. Pemodelan hewan menggunakan induksi oral glukosa 20 g/kgBB 3 kali sehari, dan diberi pakan khusus lemak dan karbohidrat. Hewan dengan KGD > 135 mg/dL dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok, kontrol normal (KN), kontrol diabetes (K(-)), diabetes+glibenklamid (K(+)), hewan yang diberi ekstrak etanol daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn dosis 100 mg/kgBB (BD1), 200 mg/kgBB (BD2) dan 400 mg/kgBB) (BD3). Treatment dilakukan selama 14 hari. Agregasi platelet diukur berdasarkan waktu perdarahan dan waktu koagulasi. Ekstrak daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn. memiliki potensi sebagai antidiabetes (p<0,05) dengan dosis efektif yaitu 200 mg/kgBB dan menujukkan efektivitas yang sama dengan glibenklamid dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah (p>0,05). Namun, ekstrak etanol daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn. tidak menunjukkan adanya efek antiagregasi platelet pada tikus diabetes yang ditandai dengan penurunan waktu perdarahan dan waktu koagulasi (p>0,05). Berdasarkan hal tersebut, ekstrak daun Ageratum conyzoides Linn. dapat dikembangkan menjadi obat diabetes melitus, namun diduga tidak dapat digunakan untuk pencegahan komplikasi terkait agregasi platelet berdasarkan waktu perdarahan dan waktu koagulasi.

Abstract

Bau badan merupakan salah satu masalah yang ada di negara tropis seperti Indonesia. Bau badan disebabkan adanya aktivitas bakteri pada cairan keringat, sehingga untuk mencegah terjadinya bau badan dapat dilakukan dengan mengurangi volume keringat atau melawan bakteri penyebab bau badan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasi sediaan krim antiperspirant yang mengandung kombinasi tawas sebagai antiperspirant dan ekstrak lidah buaya (Aloe Vera L.) sebagai pelembab untuk mengurangi terjadinya iritasi kulit. Sediaan krim dipilih karena mudah diaplikasikan dan nyaman digunakan. Ekstrak lidah buaya diperoleh dengan cara ekstraksi infudasi. Krim dibuat dengan mencampur fase air dengan fase minyak lalu diaduk hingga homogen. Evaluasi kestabilan krim dilakukan dengan metode cycling test selama 6 siklus dan diamati perubahan pada sifat organoleptik, homogenitas, nilai pH, dan daya sebar sediaan. Uji antiperspirant dilakukan dengan menghitung jumlah keringat yang keluar pada 10 sukarelawan. Formula sediaan krim yang dihasilkan menunjukkan sifat fisika yang sesuai persyaratan serta stabil secara fisik berdasarkan hasil cycling test. Berdasarkan uji aktivitas antiperspirant terhadap 10 panelis didapati bahwa sediaan krim mampu menggurangi volume keringat hingga 25%. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh bahwa tawas dan Aloe vera dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan krim yang stabil dan memiliki aktivitas pengurangan jumlah volume keringat hingga 25%.
