Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of spiritual techniques, specifically the Qur'anic Emotional Freedom Technique (SQEFT), in reducing anxiety among chronic kidney failure patients undergoing haemodialysis. A quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was employed on 29 patients over 30 days, with sessions held twice weekly. Anxiety levels, assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), showed a significant reduction after the intervention (p = 0.000). These findings suggest that SQEFT, as a spiritual technique, offers a promising non-pharmacological approach to managing anxiety in haemodialysis patients. Future studies are encouraged to explore its broader psychological benefits and long-term impact on patient well-being.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that can cause various complications, including diabetic foot wounds. Wound healing in diabetic patients is often hampered, so effective therapy is needed. Ozone therapy has shown potential in accelerating the wound healing process through increased tissue oxygenation and antimicrobial effects. This study aims to determine the effect of ozone therapy on the wound healing process of diabetes mellitus at DD Care Clinic Padang City. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pretestposttest method. A sample of 10 people was taken with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Bates-Jensena Wound Assessment Tool (BWAT) questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxson signed ranks test. The mean diabetic wound healing score before ozone therapy was 41.1 (SD 7.34) and after therapy was 25.3 (SD 7.39). The statistical test showed a P value of 0.005, which indicated a significant difference between the scores before and after therapy. The results showed that ozone therapy is effective in accelerating diabetic wound healing. This therapy works by increasing oxygenation, reducing infection, and stimulating cell regeneration. This finding is in line with previous studies that show the benefits of ozone in wound management. There is a significant effect of ozone therapy on the wound healing process of diabetes mellitus at DD Care Clinic, with a P-value of 0.005. Therefore, it is recommended that healthcare professionals consider using ozone therapy in diabetic wound care protocols to improve clinical outcomes.

Abstract

The term “stunting” has become widespread in research, programs and international child health and nutrition policy circles. Stunting (short body) describes the condition of malnutrition that has been long since 1000 days of birth of a baby and it takes time for the child to develop and return to normal according to the growth and development of the child's age. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Sei Bamban Health Center, Batang Serangan District, Langkat Regency in 2020. This research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional study design. The sampling technique was Simple Random Sampling with a total population of 20 children at the Puskesmas Sei Bamban. The method of collecting data for maternal nutrition variables during pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, complete basic immunization and environmental sanitation was using a questionnaire. Data analysis using Chi Square. The results showed that from 20 samples, 75.5% of children under five were stunted, 80.0% of mothers had a history of poor nutrition during pregnancy, 70.0% of children under five had a history of not exclusive breastfeeding, 45.0% of children under five received complete basic immunization. , and 85.0% have poor environmental sanitation. Meanwhile, complete basic immunization did not have a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. Research suggests that the active role of the government, especially health workers, is to tackle the incidence of stunting in toddlers. In addition, it is hoped that the community will adopt a balanced nutrition diet to improve welfare

Abstract

Hypertension is a long-term condition that enables individuals to take an active role in managing their health care— inadequate adherence to medication regimens is a major factor contributing to treatment failure. We translated and updated the Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance scale for use in Indonesia, where systemic hypertension is becoming increasingly prevalent.  This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance scale. The descriptive cross-sectional research was conducted in East Java, Indonesia, during June and July 2021. For the purpose of selecting 144 persons who had hypertension, a convenience sample was utilized. The Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance instrument was translated from English into Indonesian using a forward-backward translation method, followed by evaluation by an expert panel and pilot testing. To assess its reliability, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and item-total correlation were utilized. A Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of 0.945 confirmed the adequacy of the sample for the study. Additionally, the Bartlett’s test yielded a significant result (X² = 132.41; p < 0.001), supporting the appropriateness of conducting a factor analysis. Using factor analysis, the Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance scale revealed a single factor with an eigenvalue >1 that explained 42.13% of the total variation. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance scale was 0.901. The Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance instrument has been successfully translated and tailored for the Indonesian population, with consideration of their cultural context. In order to provide an accurate prediction regarding the impact that this intervention would have on patients' adherence, the Hill-Bone high blood pressure therapy compliance scale could be of assistance.

Abstract

Malnutrition is thought to be the cause of more than one third of all child deaths, despite being rarely cited as a cause. In Indonesia, 19.9% of the population is malnourished, which is a very high prevalence. To prevent and treat malnutrition in children, numerous strategies have been developed, including an integrated nutritional health intervention. This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of an integrated nutritional health intervention for the energy and protein intake of malnourished children under the age of five. This study had a quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test control group. The research took place in Padang City, West Sumatra Province, between August 2020 and February 2021. The study data were collected using a standardized questionnaire at baseline and six months after the intervention, utilizing a sample size of 140 people. The data were evaluated using dependent and independent t-tests between the study’s baseline and end line. The energy and protein intake variables showed a difference, indicating a significant increase in the score from the baseline to the end line (energy intake: difference-in-differences (DID) = 405.53, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 362.01–449.05, p = .000; protein intake: DID = 4.62, 95% CI = 3.79–5.45, p = .000). This study found that the integrated nutritional health intervention increased the energy and protein intake of malnourished children and had a substantial impact on reducing the prevalence of risk factors when adequate protein and energy intake was provided. Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable population experiencing significant psychological and social changes, often leading to emotional difficulties and maladaptive behaviors such as self-harm. This study aims to analyze the associations and predictive factors of bullying, self-esteem, anxiety, and peer relationship problems with self-harm behavior among high school students in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 678 adolescents aged 15–18 years who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using validated structured questionnaires, including the Olweus Bullying Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, and Peer Relationship Scale. Univariate analysis showed that 40% of respondents had experienced bullying, 30% had low self-esteem, 25% reported moderate to severe anxiety, and 35% had peer relationship problems. The prevalence of self-harm behavior was 18%. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test revealed significant associations between all independent variables and self-harm behavior (p < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression identified moderate to severe anxiety as the strongest predictor of self-harm (OR 3.7; 95% CI: 2.3–5.8), followed by low self-esteem (OR 3.1; 95% CI: 2.0–4.9), bullying experience (OR 2.8; 95% CI: 1.9–4.2), and peer relationship problems (OR 1.8; 95% CI: 1.2–2.9). These findings establish a clear evidence base for developing comprehensive, school-based psychosocial interventions aimed at mitigating these specific risk factors to reduce the prevalence of self-harm among adolescents in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia.
