Abstract

In an ever-evolving global landscape, contemporary issues are increasingly complex and affect various aspects of human life. Changes in work patterns, digitalization, and rapid urbanization have had a major impact on people's lifestyles. One of the consequences of these changes is the rise in non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which are now the leading cause of death in many countries. This research focuses on the relationship between modern lifestyles and the increase in NCDs using the literature study method. Data sources in this study include reputable academic journals, official reports of world health organizations, and statistical data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, with data collection techniques through systematic literature searches, critical evaluation, and comparative analysis of various relevant scientific sources. The results show that unhealthy diets, lack of physical activity, and high levels of stress have significantly contributed to the surge in cases of diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders. To address this phenomenon, preventive measures involving health education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and cross-sectoral cooperation are needed to create a healthier and higher quality environment.

Abstract

The most prominent social stratification in fishing communities is stratification based on control of the means of production. Price determination greatly influences the socio-economic conditions of fishing communities. This gap can also be seen in the fishing community in Ternate City. This research aims to describe and analyze the socio-economic activities of fishing communities related to fishing systems, organization, patterns of cooperative relations between fishermen, profit sharing and marketing patterns, and distribution of fishermen's catches. This research method uses phenomenology, which places the meaning of understanding or comprehension of the object itself through interview, observation, and documentation techniques and is analyzed descriptively-qualitatively. Sango Village is a portrait of the life of a traditional fishing community. Several traditional fishermen who live in Sango Village have almost lost their source of income to finance their families' lives, but over time, their economic activities have improved because they still rely on their livelihood as fishermen. To this day, they continue to exist in developing their activities. The fishing systems and tools used by the fishing community in Sango Village are as follows: 1. Coho nyao toma jala (catching fish with nets) 2. Coho Nyao Se Tabadiku (catching fish with bamboo) 3. Hau/Mangail (fishing). Organization and relationship patterns. Collaboration between fishermen includes Punggawa and Juragan. The conclusion is that the social and economic activities of the Sango Village fishing community grow and develop reciprocally with the socio-cultural aspects seen from the sea fishing system. The organization and pattern of cooperation between fishermen for profit sharing and distribution and the fishing equipment fishermen use is still effortless, such as nets, tabadiku, and hau used by the Sango fishing group.

Abstract

The radicalization of Islam in the digital world is a major challenge for generation z, especially those who are active in using the internet and social media. This study aims to understand radicalization in the digital world, factors that make the generation vulnerable to radicalization, and the challenges and solutions faced by generation z in preventing radicalization. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection through observation and interviews with generation z who actively use the internet and social media, and analysis of literature from various sources. The results of this study indicate that social media is the main tool in the spread of extreme thoughts carried out by radical groups through digital propaganda, closed discussion forums and the spread of hoax news. Generation z who are in the stage of searching for their identity are vulnerable to being influenced by radical narratives. The main challenges faced are low digital literacy and lack of moderate religious understanding. Meanwhile, solutions that can be done by increasing digital literacy, education that teaches the values of religious moderation, and the active role of families in providing an understanding of tolerant Islam. Generation z is expected to be able to become a driving force that rejects radicalization and supports diversity in this digital era.

Abstract

Suicide is a psychological issue that affects individuals, but it also represents complicated societal dynamics and integration issues in contemporary society, which makes this research significant. This study's goal is to examine the phenomena of suicide from a sociological standpoint, drawing on Emile Durkheim's classical ideas as well as contemporary sociological theories including conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, and critical sociology. The methodology is qualitative library research using a variety of primary and secondary materials from national and international books and scientific journals. According to the study's findings, societal factors that greatly influence suicidal behavior include social stigma, structural inequity, inadequate social cohesion, and the pressures of consumerist culture and social media. In conclusion, a sociological perspective offers a more thorough comprehension of suicide as a social occurrence, indicating that preventative tactics ought to concentrate on societal structural and cultural shifts in addition to focusing on people.

Abstract

The phenomenon of modern multicultural societies and diversity of identities often leads to social fragmentation. This paper emphasizes the role of religion as a mediator of social integration, a provider of shared values, and a symbolic space that unites society. This research was conducted using a reflective qualitative approach through literature study and theoretical analysis of the sociology of religion. Data collection techniques involved documentation, specifically the review of academic works, journal articles, and key books in the field of religious sociology relevant to the topics of social integration and religiosity. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques employed thematic content analysis, focusing on the interpretation of meaning, values, and the social functions of religious practices within the context of a multicultural society. The results of the analysis show that open and impactful religious practices can be a middle ground in dealing with the complexity of a fragmented society. This article recommends strengthening inclusive religiosity through education, social policies, and interfaith forums in order to build sustainable social cohesion.

Abstract

Students are often exposed to the negative effects of social media, especially if used excessively, which can disrupt sleep, cause anxiety, and even lead to severe depression. This research aims to analyze the impact of social media on the social conditions, lifestyle, and social status of students at Makassar State University. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of this study are students at Makassar State University who use social media. In this research, the data analysis technique used involves collecting data through interviews with active students from Makassar State University to provide a deeper understanding of the effects of social media usage, as well as documented literature from previous journals and studies obtained from online databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and PubMed. The results show that social media has a significant effect on social relationships and mental health, as well as the lifestyle of students. This platform facilitates access to information, expands social networks, and motivates individuals to adopt healthier habits. However, the negative effects such as stress, sleep disturbances, and declining physical health cannot be ignored. This issue is exacerbated by the presence of cyberbullying, social comparison, and self-evaluation anxiety that students often experience. Therefore, it is important to use social media cautiously so that the benefits can be enjoyed without detrimental consequences

Abstract

In the digital era, social media has a great influence on children's character development. Uncontrolled use of social media can lead to negative impacts, such as device addiction, lack of social skills, and vulnerability to content that is not in accordance with moral values. Therefore, parenting education becomes a crucial aspect in helping parents guide children in utilising social media wisely and responsibly. This study aims to analyse the role of parenting education in preventing the negative impact of social media on children's character building in Makassar City. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews and literature studies. The research subjects involved parents and educators who have experience in parenting in the digital era. The results showed that good parenting education can help parents instil positive values such as discipline, empathy, responsibility, and emotional intelligence in children. In addition, parenting education also increases children's awareness of social norms and equips them with skills in sorting out information and managing the use of social media wisely. Collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the community in providing quality parenting education is an important step in shaping the character of children who are smart, ethical, and ready to face the challenges of the digital world.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Makassar Branch in facing competition from financial technology (fintech) companies in the digital era. The rapid development of fintech has changed the pattern of financial services, offering easy access, transaction efficiency, and more innovative technology-based services. This condition is a challenge for conventional banking, including BNI, to maintain its existence and competitiveness amidst digital disruption. The research method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. In this study, the SWOT analysis tool was used to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by BNI Makassar Branch. The results of the study show that BNI has strengths in the form of a wide branch network and high customer trust, but still faces weaknesses in terms of technology adaptation. Opportunities that can be utilized include the increasing need for digital financial services and the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the threats faced come from aggressive fintech competition and changes in customer preferences. Therefore, an adaptive strategy based on digital technology, development of service products based on modern customer needs, and strengthening of data security systems are needed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji unsur-unsur dan kesulitan dalam menerapkan kebiasaan konsumsi sebagai hasil dari kampanye kesadaran iklim media sosial yang dilakukan oleh Masyarakat Kota Makassar. Sebagian masyarakat didorong untuk mengubah kebiasaan pembelian yang lebih berkelanjutan sebagai hasil dari meningkatnya kesadaran, seperti mengurangi penggunaan plastik sekali pakai dan memilih produk yang ramah lingkungan. media sosial berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran, mempertahankan perubahan tetaplah sulit. Hambatan signifikan untuk mempertahankan konsumsi berkelanjutan mencakup hal-hal seperti keterbatasan finansial, kurangnya aturan pemerintah dan dukungan infrastruktur, serta tren media sosial yang berubah dengan cepat. Kesadaran publik sangat dipengaruhi oleh generasi muda dan media sosial sebagai alat kampanye.Kata kunci: konsumsi berkelanjutan. Perubahan perilaku konsumsi, perubahan iklim, kampanye media sosial.
