Abstract

Having a child is a gift that must be accompanied by a duty of trust. Many Muslim families do not understand the concept of Islamic education in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah so that they are unable to educate children into a rabbani generation that is firm in ethics and morality. The purpose of this study is to find out the value of parents' education towards children by referring to the interpretation of Luqman's letter verses 12-19 by making a comparison between Ibn Katsir's tafsir and Fathu al-Qadir's Tafsir of Imam Asy-Syaukani. The methods used in this study are library research and comparative studies to explore the differences and similarities of interpretation of the two. Analysis is done on key aspects such as interpretation methods, historical context, and religious values considered important in understanding the verses. The source used is a direct reference to the mother books of Ibn Katsir and Fathu al-Qadir along with other references from articles and scientific journals related to the speech. The results of the study indicate that Ibn Katsir emphasized more on traditional aspects and religious values in the upbringing of children, while the Assy-Syaukani priest tended to incorporate social and humanitarian contexts in his understanding. This comparison provides an in-depth insight into the diversity of Islamic perspectives on parents' responsibilities in educating children, as well as their implications for modern educational practices.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze and compare the meanings of the terms nafs and qalb in the Qur'an. In many previous studies, these two terms are often treated as synonyms without sufficient linguistic and contextual analysis. This research seeks to clarify their semantic distinctions based on Qur'anic usage and classical exegetical explanations. Methodology: This study employs library research using the first variety of maudhu'i (thematic) interpretation. The analysis begins by tracing all Qur'anic verses containing the terms nafs and qalb along with their derivative forms. The basic meanings of each term are determined through Arabic-Arabic dictionaries, followed by contextual analysis based on classical Qur’anic commentaries that emphasize linguistic aspects. Results: The findings reveal that the term nafs is consistently used in the Qur’an to refer to human beings as complete entities, functioning as subjects of action and bearers of moral responsibility. In contrast, the term qalb refers to the inner center of human consciousness that functions to understand, believe, and respond to the truth. The study demonstrates that nafs and qalb are not used as absolute synonyms but occupy distinct semantic fields and functions within the Qur’anic discourse. Applications: This study reinforces the linguistic principle that differences in Qur’anic terminology indicate differences in meaning when supported by linguistic and contextual evidence. By applying the first variety of maudhu‘i interpretation, this research contributes to Qur’anic semantic studies and provides a methodological reference for distinguishing closely related Qur’anic terms based on textual usage rather than external conceptual assumptions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of QS interpretation. Al-Māidah: 38 on the punishment of cutting off the hands of thieves, by tracing the dynamics of classical tafsir based on fiqh tafsir and tafsir bil ma'tsūr and their relevance within the framework of contemporary Islamic law through the Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah approach. This research uses a qualitative design with a library research method. Data were collected from classical sources of interpretation, fiqh literature, and relevant contemporary Islamic law studies, then analyzed using descriptive-analytical and comparative approaches to identify patterns of interpretation, legal principles, and paradigm shifts in the meaning of hudūd theft. The results of the study show that QS. Al-Māidah:38 is not understood textually and absolutely in the classical tradition, but is rather limited by strict conditions such as niṣāb, proof, intention, and the absence of emergency conditions. The historical practice of the Companions, especially the policy of Umar ibn al-Khattab, confirms that consideration of welfare and social justice is the main factor in the implementation of hudūd. In contemporary discourse, the approach of Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah reinforces the substantial orientation of Islamic law by placing the protection of property, human dignity, and social welfare as the main goals, thus opening up space for a contextual and humanist reinterpretation of hudūd. This study concludes that the transformation of QS interpretation. Al Māidah: 38 is part of the ongoing dynamics of ijtihad of Islamic law, as well as making an important contribution to the development of Islamic criminal law that is relevant, just, and responsive to modern social realities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine classical and contemporary interpretations of Surah An-Nisā’ verses 5-6, with a focus on the concept of ar rusyd and its relevance to the formation of social responsibility and youth character education. This study is motivated by differences in exegetical approaches that tend to limit ar-rusyd to intellectual competence and financial management in classical interpretations, alongside contemporary efforts to expand its meaning to encompass moral and social dimensions. This research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, through comparative analysis of classical tafsir literature and relevant contemporary studies. The findings indicate that ar-rusyd does not merely represent intellectual maturity but also includes moral maturity, clarity of reasoning, and social readiness in carrying trust (amanah) and responsibility. Contemporary interpretations emphasize that the concept of ar rusyd is consistent with the principles of justice and equality that constitute the fundamental values of the Qur’an and cannot be used as a justification for discriminatory hierarchical relations. Furthermore, this study finds that ar-rusyd, together with the values of amanah and nafs, can serve as a conceptual foundation for developing a Qur'an-based model of youth character education. In conclusion, the actualization of the concept of ar-rusyd makes a significant contribution to strengthening thematic Qur'anic exegesis and advancing Islamic education oriented toward the formation of mature, just, and responsible character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the practical interpretation of QS. An-Nahl verse 125 in the Madrasah Sabtu Ceria program as a model of community-based non-formal Islamic education and its impact on social transformation in Kampung Gondang. The main focus of the study is on how the values of hikmah, mau'izhah hasanah, and mujadalah are implemented in the children's learning process and how this learning influences the religious behavior of children, families, and the wider community. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of program managers, community leaders, student mentors, parents, and students. Data analysis was carried out descriptively-analytically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with validity strengthened through triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study indicate that the application of the practical interpretation of QS. An-Nahl verse 125 in Madrasah Sabtu Ceria is able to improve children's religiosity and morals, which are reflected in the habit of worship, polite behavior, and social awareness. Furthermore, children act as triggers for change in the family by encouraging parental involvement in religious activities. This impact extends to the community level through increased socio-religious participation, mutual cooperation, and collective solidarity. This study concludes that Islamic education based on practical interpretation in community-based semi-TPA institutions is effective as a strategy for cultural da'wah and social transformation at the grassroots level.

Abstract

This study explores the dangers of riba in the perspective of thematic Quranic interpretation (tafsir maudhu’i), especially in the context of online loans in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative literature-based method, analyzing hadiths and Qur'anic verses on ribā alongside data from contemporary Islamic economic literature. The results of the study indicate that ribā has destructive impacts such as damaging honor, plunging into poverty, bringing famine, and inviting punishment to a region. In the contemporary financial system, ribā is often found in conventional banking, interest-bearing credit, and online lending platforms that use an interest system and late fines. The widespread use of online lending services (pinjol) in Indonesia has caused significant economic and social problems. Weak regulations mean that many illegal lending platforms continue to operate and are difficult to eradicate, leaving consumers without adequate protection. One serious impact of this phenomenon is the misuse of personal data, where borrower information is often used for intimidation and pressure in the collection process. In addition, high default rates are a major problem, triggered by suffocating interest rates, unreasonable late fees, and low financial literacy. The consequences of online lending not only impact the economic aspects of individuals but also cause severe psychological distress, even in some cases leading to extreme actions such as suicide. As a solution, the study recommends the development of a syarī’ah-based financial system, public education about the dangers of ribā, and collaboration between the government and financial institutions to create fair economic policies that are in accordance with Islamic law.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to analyze the meaning of fasād in the Qur'an as a form of ecotheological criticism of the exploitation of contemporary nature, as well as to reinterpret Islamic values in responding to modern environmental crises. This study departs from the assumption that the meaning of fasād in the interpretation of the Qur'an tends to be limited to the moral and social dimensions, so that its ecological aspects have not been explored optimally. Methodology: The methodology used is qualitative research based on literature studies with a thematic interpretation approach (mawḍū'ī), accompanied by linguistic and ecotheological analysis of the verses of the Qur'an that contain the concept of fasād. The research data is sourced from contemporary interpretive literature and relevant Islamic ecotheological studies. Results: The results of the study show that the fasād in the Qur'an has a multidimensional meaning that includes moral, social, and ecological damage as a result of human deviations in carrying out the caliphate's mandate. The concept of fasād is positioned as a normative critique of human-nature relations that are exploitative and anthropocentric. These findings confirm that the Qur'an offers an ecological ethical framework that emphasizes balance, responsibility, and sustainability. Applications/Originality/Value: The novelty of this research lies in the interpretation of fasād as an ecotheological concept of the Qur'an that reconstructs damage not only morally-socially, but also ecologically, and positions it as an Islamic theological critique of contemporary environmental exploitation through a thematic interpretation approach and linguistic- ecoteological analysis.
