Abstract

Jakarta is facing increasingly serious environmental challenges, especially related to the issue of deteriorating air quality and the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. Based on recent data, the concentration of PM 2.5 air pollutant particles in the Jakarta area has reached 50 μg/m³, far exceeding the safe threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is 5 μg/m³. In addition, the UHI phenomenon has also worsened environmental conditions, especially in the Puri Kembangan area, West Jakarta. In this area, the surface temperature during the day reaches 34°C. This condition not only impacts public health, but also demands environmental design interventions that are able to adapt to these challenges. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive, by recording and analyzing air quality and wind speed in the Puri Kembangan area, and simulating it in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to study air movement in depth, while the design method used is to combine Cross Ventilation, Double Skin, and Windcatcher techniques to create energy-efficient buildings. This research aims to find a responsive solution through the development of an air purifying building. This concept combines the use of technology in the form of an Electrostatic Precipitator Machine, as well as a biological system in the form of an Algae Tubular Photobioreactor. The final result is a building design that functions as an air filtration system capable of processing dirty air into clean air independently. Keywords: Algae; Electrostatic Precipitator; Pollution; Purification Abstrak Jakarta tengah menghadapi tantangan lingkungan yang semakin serius, terutama terkait dengan isu kualitas udara yang memburuk serta Fenomena Urban Heat Island (UHI). World Health Organization (WHO), yaitu sebesar 5 μg/m³. Abstract

The waste problem in Indonesia remains a significant challenge, exacerbated by the country's increasing population and rising public consumption. Data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) indicate that Indonesia generates more than 60 million tons of waste annually. DKI Jakarta's daily waste production is around 7,500 to 8,000 tons per day. Around 7,500 tons of waste from DKI Jakarta are sent to the Bantargebang TPST every day, resulting in waste accumulation of up to tens of meters. 53% of the waste is organic waste. The accumulation and decomposition of organic waste causes air, soil, water pollution, and becomes a source of disease. This study aims to create an organic waste processing facility to reduce pollution and the burden of the Bantargebang TPST, increase greenery and food production, and regenerate organic waste into renewable energy. The research method used is a case study method of a biogas-based waste processing building similar to the biogas and compost facilities at Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH Sundern, Germany. Waste processing will be processed through Dry fermentation or solid-state anaerobic digestion (SSAD), then into biogas, fertilizer and compost. The results of compost and fertilizer can be used for plantation and agricultural production, creating a regenerative biocycle, namely regenerating organic waste into a source of electrical energy and a source of food energy. Some of the fertilizer and compost are used for vertical farms and botanical gardens. Some of the biomethane gas is used to provide a public kitchen with free gas for the surrounding community. Keywords:  Bantar Gebang; biogas; regenerative; waste processing Abstrak Permasalahan sampah di Indonesia terus menjadi tantangan besar seiring dengan meningkatnya jumlah penduduk dan konsumsi masyarakat.

Abstract

According to BPS predictions, by 2035, 66.67% of Indonesia's population is estimated to live in urban areas. Increasing urbanization has negative impacts, one of which is environmental damage. The lack of public awareness of the problem exacerbates this. The lack of public awareness occurs due to the absence of ecological empathy in the community, which has an impact on public awareness of the problem. The design of this training forum aims to raise public awareness of environmental issues that occur by creating human experiences and interactions with the environment. The method employed in this study is a case study approach, utilizing a design strategy that integrates regenerative architecture and biophilic design. The research stages include conducting a literature review on regenerative architecture, biophilic design, ecological empathy, and the continuity of biophilic design and ecological empathy, as well as identifying relevant project case studies. Furthermore, the data is analyzed to identify the influence of biophilic design in increasing ecological empathy. The result of this design is an environmental care training forum that incorporates the concept of urban forests as an approach to regenerative architecture and biophilic design in buildings, aiming to increase community ecological empathy. Design will bring positive impacts to living things and the surrounding environment. Designing training containers with biophilic concepts can raise public awareness of environmental issues by incorporating several biophilic design approaches and urban forest concepts into the design, thereby improving human connection with nature both visually and systemically. Abstract

Jakarta consists of various unique cultures from various people from various regions. However, as with other regions that have local culture, Betawi is the culture of Jakarta's original ethnicity. However, in reality, Betawi culture and arts are increasingly being displaced by city culture and international culture which are more loved by its diverse population, especially Millennials. To introduce Betawi culture and arts which are rich and have their own charm, practical efforts are taken, one of which is through optimizing city visuals with mural media. Betawi, especially for the people around the Tomang sub-district and the general public who are active around the mural location. Betawi cultural elements such as ondel-ondel, tari topeng, tanjidor, pencak silat, kerak telor, and other Betawi cultural decorative ornaments will be collaborated harmoniously in the mural sketches that will be applied. The result of this mural PKM activity is a research paper regarding the role of a cultural-themed mural application in increasing public appreciation of Jakarta Arts and Intellectual Property Rights in the design concept implemented on the ex-mayor wall panels of West Jakarta.

Abstract

Kongregasi Suster Cinta Kasih dari Yesus dan Maria Bunda Pertolongan Baik (KYM) needs a chapel to hold worship services. The construction of the KYM Cikanyere Chapel building requires significant financial support from various parties. One way to obtain funds is to present the building design clearly and attractively to potential donors. The use of 3D (Three-dimensional) image technology in presenting the design of the new KYM Cikanyere Chapel building to potential donors is very necessary. It is hoped that this technology will make it easier for donors to understand the design of the chapel building so that they are more motivated to donate funds for the construction of this chapel. In connection with this need, the leadership of the KYM Cikanyere Monastery asked for help from the Master of Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Tarumanagara University, Jakarta to create a 3D drawing according to the existing floor plan ideas and designs. The implementation method was carried out by collecting information and data about the design of the new KYM Cikanyere Chapel building, through interviews with potential users and Chapel designers to get ideas for the Chapel plan, shape and desired texture; Then create a 3D image model using special software; Presentation and consultation of results to partners; Revision according to the results of consultation with partners; Print the resulting 3D image and submit the digital file. The 3D results show the Chapel building from all directions, both from the front, side and back, even from above better known as a bird's perspective or as if looking at the building as if using a drone. With this 3D image, potential donors will have an idea of the appearance of the new chapel, so that their donations will contribute to the construction of the Chapel. ABSTRAK Kongregasi Suster Cinta Kasih dari Yesus dan Maria Bunda Pertolongan Baik (KYM) memerlukan bangunan kapel untuk mengadakan ibadah. Pembangunan bangunan Kapel KYM Cikanyere membutuhkan dukungan dana yang cukup besar dari berbagai pihak. Abstract

As the iconic buildings in Yogyakarta, the Mangunwijaya’s churches contribute a great influence on the city. His wisdom is not only written in his books, but also has been implemented through his architectural projects, revealing a specific composition of a spiritual language. A qualitative study is used to reveal Mangunwijaya’s architectural principles, by using the tracing method to highlight the structural elements of his urban churches. A typological investigation is accompanied by retracing Mangunwijaya’s drawing, where its spatial composition and form are emphasized through points and lines. Hence, by eliminating decorative elements, the most fundamental components of the churches can be raised, consisting: 1) The roof as the most dominant element, a volume that suggests the openness of the building; 2) Landscape defines a mutual symbiosis between indoor and outdoor, stimulating communication and gesture; 3) A typological composition that respects a Roman-Catholic church’s principles while revealing a local identity.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the Indonesian capital relocation has shifted the development focus from Java Island towards the central part of Indonesia. The islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi are preparing to carry out an entirely new planned city, including the modernization of these two islands, while their current condition is relatively traditional. The problem includes marginalized, threatened, eroded local culture and natural environment as the move would have grave repercussions for the entire region, such as deforestation, global cultural influences, and instantaneous modernization. Conservation and preservation of local architectural DNA have become urgent research; this paper presents a design idea as a study based on two representatives’ local architecture. The research objective is to study the various potency of two tribal houses' typological transformation, they are called Ba’anjung (Kalimantan) and Balla (Sulawesi), as alternative variations to embrace modernized tradition. It aims to promote its genetic structure as the arch-type for present-day development. Typology is utilized to study morphological formations, demonstrating the design process while investigating the two-house types as the case studies. Research steps include 1) Typological study, 2) Module Configuration, and 3) Design transformation. The outcome is a typo-morphological study based on unit design transformation. The novelty is a unit variation of forms Ba’anjung and Balla.

Abstract

Post-COVID-19 pandemic work activities faced a readjustment, but work activities are now more flexible regarding place and time. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider current work activities, which are now based on the workers’ activities. Office buildings are a main physical factor in comfort and worker productivity. With an activity-based concept based on the worker’s activities, office building configuration is based on the needs of each worker at a time and consists of several types of workspaces. The research uses the multiple case study method to reassess the role of office buildings in current work activities. The design method used is Bernard Tschumi’s programming theory. The activity-based concept is structured based on elements of the physical work environment implemented in several types of work areas according to needs, with the most significant space configuration being the facility area.
