Abstract

In this era of rapid globalization and digitalization, understanding consumer behavior is crucial for designing effective marketing strategies. Despite extensive research on consumer behavior, there remains a gap in the deep understanding of the psychology underlying consumer purchasing decisions. This study aims to explore how psychological elements influence successful marketing strategies, focusing on motivational factors, perception, and social influence. The method employed is a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and content analysis of successful marketing campaigns. The qualitative approach allows researchers to gain a comprehensive understanding of how successful marketing campaigns are planned, implemented, and evaluated. In-depth interviews provide valuable insights from key players in these campaigns, such as marketing managers, advertising employees, and involved consumers. Additionally, content analysis offers profound insights into the messages conveyed in successful marketing campaigns. For example, by analyzing advertisements, brochures, and other promotional materials, researchers can identify patterns of effective communication and marketing strategies that successfully capture consumer attention. In this study, researchers can simulate successful marketing campaigns using data from interviews and content analysis, thereby identifying key factors that contribute to their success. This can serve as a reference for other companies in designing effective marketing strategies. Overall, the qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and content analysis is a powerful method for uncovering the keys to successful marketing campaigns. By delving deeply and analyzing content meticulously, researchers can obtain valuable insights for the marketing world. The study results show that a better understanding of consumer psychology, such as the use of emotions in advertising and tailoring products to consumer values, can enhance the effectiveness of marketing strategies. The theoretical contribution of this study is the development of a model that links consumer psychology to marketing decisions. Managerially, these findings provide useful insights for marketing practitioners to design more targeted and relevant strategies that better meet consumer needs.

Abstract

Culinary tourism in South Jakarta, a vibrant hub blending traditional and modern food services, has been reshaped by digital marketing, particularly amid boycott movements targeting certain businesses. These socio-political disruptions have highlighted gaps in how food services manage reputational crises and shifting consumer behaviour, especially among foreign workers. This study explores the interplay between culinary tourism and digital marketing in South Jakarta’s traditional and online food sectors, focusing on post-boycott recovery strategies and consumer responses. Employing a qualitative-comparative case study approach, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with food service providers and digital marketing experts, complemented by online content analysis of customer reviews and campaign materials. Findings reveal that online food services effectively utilized targeted social media campaigns and influencer partnerships to restore consumer trust, while traditional vendors struggled due to limited digital literacy. However, traditional vendors leveraging authenticity and cultural heritage through digital storytelling showed recovery potential. The study expands the theoretical framework of digital culinary tourism by incorporating post-crisis consumer perceptions and emphasizes the need for culturally sensitive digital strategies. It advocates for capacity-building initiatives to empower traditional vendors, ensuring competitiveness in a digitally driven market.

Abstract

This research explores the multifaceted decline in Pizza Hut Indonesia’s sales by distinguishing between consumer boycott motivations and other contributing market forces. A major factor identified is the rise of more affordable alternatives, notably street food vendors, which have attracted cost-conscious consumers and accounted for a significant 30% drop in sales. These vendors offer convenient and budget-friendly meals that align better with evolving consumer spending habits. Despite this, Pizza Hut has shown progress in product enhancement, reflected in a 31% increase in customer satisfaction—driven by menu innovations such as Indonesian-flavored and fusion-style pizzas tailored to diverse local palates. Nevertheless, brand trust has been undermined by health-related perceptions, with 32% of the negative impact attributed to concerns over the nutritional value of offerings. In response, the brand has introduced healthier options, including whole wheat crusts, fresh vegetables, and lean proteins, to regain the confidence of health-conscious customers. Importantly, consumer boycotts have been identified but exert only a minor influence, contributing just 5% to the sales decline. These boycotts stem from issues such as perceived service shortcomings or pricing dissatisfaction, yet have had limited financial repercussions due to counteractive strategies like targeted promotions, loyalty schemes, and improved service quality. Additionally, macroeconomic conditions have imposed a 2% impact, compelling Pizza Hut to adapt pricing strategies during periods of financial constraint, such as offering value deals to sustain customer interest. In conclusion, this study highlights the necessity of differentiating brand-related backlash from broader market shifts.

Abstract

In the era of the Internet, where consumers are perpetually connected and information about diverse products is readily accessible, the dynamics of the consumer purchase decision process have undergone a profound transformation. This shift is marked by an increased emphasis on information-seeking activities before the physical encounter with products on store shelves. Two pivotal concepts, the First Moment of Truth (FMoT) and the Zero Moment of Truth (ZMoT), have emerged to elucidate crucial junctures in this process. FMoT underscores the significance of the in-store experience and the initial seconds when consumers engage with brands on shelves. In contrast, ZMoT spotlights the online research phase preceding the purchase decision, encompassing the use of electronic Word of Mouth (e-WoM) to make informed choices. This paper delves into the theoretical underpinnings of the ZMoT concept, establishing connections with existing academic literature. Additionally, it draws on a prior study conducted in the US market as a reference point to explore the impact of the Zero Moment of Truth on consumer behavior in the context of Bengkalis Island. The research scrutinizes results across diverse demographic segments, offering valuable insights into the nuanced interplay between ZMoT and actual buying behavior. Ultimately, these findings are juxtaposed with those of previous research, enriching our understanding of the evolving landscape of consumer decision-making. Keywords: Zero Moment of Truth (ZMoT), buying decision process and impulse buying

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the transformation of consumer behavior in the era of generative artificial intelligence, particularly focusing on the influence of intelligent content on perceived value and purchase intention. The primary issue addressed was how content generated by artificial intelligence shaped consumers’ cognitive and affective evaluations within an increasingly competitive digital environment. This study employed a quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling on data collected from 320 respondents who were users of digital platforms. The findings indicated that intelligent content significantly enhanced consumers’ perceived value, which subsequently exerted a positive effect on purchase intention. Furthermore, perceived value was found to partially mediate the relationship between intelligent content and purchase intention. These results suggested that the utilization of generative artificial intelligence in digital marketing strategies was capable of creating more relevant and personalized experiences, thereby strengthening purchasing decisions. In conclusion, the integration of artificial intelligence technology in content creation represented a key factor in shaping modern consumer behavior.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in digital marketing has transformed how businesses communicate with consumers and build brand engagement. However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in peripheral regions such as Bengkalis Island still face challenges in adopting advanced digital marketing tools due to limited technological literacy, marketing capabilities, and access to digital resources. This study explores the role of generative AI in enhancing digital marketing strategies to strengthen brand communication and consumer engagement among local businesses in Bengkalis Island. The importance of this topic lies in the growing need for SMEs in remote and island regions to remain competitive in the digital economy while adapting to emerging AI-driven marketing technologies. Using a mixed-method approach within a community service framework, the study involved digital marketing training, generative AI workshops, and mentoring sessions for local entrepreneurs. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and observational evaluation of participants’ digital marketing practices before and after the program. The findings indicate that the integration of generative AI tools significantly improved participants’ ability to produce marketing content, enhance brand storytelling, and increase online consumer interaction. These results highlight the potential of generative AI as a practical and scalable solution for strengthening digital marketing capabilities in geographically peripheral communities

Abstract

Digital transformation has brought significant changes to various sectors of life, including education. The development of information and communication technology has driven a paradigm shift in learning from conventional models to digital-based learning that is more flexible, interactive, and student-centered. This article aims to analyze the role of technology in improving the quality of education through learning innovation, accessibility, and the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of various academic journals and books. The results of the study indicate that the use of digital technologies such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), online learning, artificial intelligence, and interactive multimedia contributes to increasing student engagement, equalizing access to education, and strengthening 21st-century competencies. However, this transformation also faces challenges such as the digital divide, human resource readiness, and ethical aspects of technology use. Therefore, integrated policies and implementation strategies are needed to ensure that technology truly improves the quality of education.
