Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of the Two Stay Two Stray type observed from interpersonal intelligence toward Mathematical competency on the fourth grade at SDN Moh. Hatta. This study was a quasi-experimental design with 2 x 2 factorial design. The population of this study were 244 students on the fourth grade of SDN Moh. Hatta in academic year of 2018/2019. The selection of the control group and the experimental group was conducted randomly. The data were collected using test and non-test methods. The data were analysed using 2-lane variance analysis. Based on the results of 2-lane variance analysis, it is obtained that (1) FA = 10,606 > F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;75)) = 3,969. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It signifies that “there is a significant difference in Mathematical competency between group of students who are taught through cooperative learning model of Two Stay Two Stray type and group of students who are taught using conventional learning”, (2) FB = 0,201 < F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;75))= 3,969. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. It means that “there is no significant difference in Mathematical competency between students who have high interpersonal intelligence and students who have low interpersonal intelligence on Mathematical competency”, (3) FAB = 0,502 < F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;75))= 3,969. From the last results, the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. It means that “there is no significant interaction between cooperative learning model of Two Stay Two Stray type and interpersonal intelligence on Mathematical competency. The results of the treatment effectiveness calculation obtained the score of n2 = 0,122 . Overall, it can be concluded that the application of the learning model has an influence on the Mathematical competency by 12,2%.

Abstract

The main problem in this study refers to the students that have a low mathematics learning outcome. This is caused by the lack of application of relevant learning models in the mathematics learning process. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Instruction model on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students. This research is a quasi-experimental research using the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design which in its pretest is only used to determine group equality. Cluster technique was used to determine the research sample until 2 groups were selected consisting of the experimental group and the control group with a total sample of 87 students from a total of 8 population members with a total number of students 243. The test description was chosen as an instrument for data collection to obtain the score, analyzed by analysis techniques inferential statistics use the formula of variance separated in the t-test. Based on the results of the analysis, t count > t table is 7.2909> 2.021. So H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Instruction model has a positive effect on the learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

The habit of students procrastinating on assignments given by the teacher is one of the habits that need to be eliminated. It happened because of the need for more confidence in students in their abilities. This study aims to analyze the influence of independent learning and the character of students' learning responsibility on the competence of mathematics knowledge of fifth-grade elementary school students. This type of research is ex-post facto with a correlational research design. The population used in this study amounted to 116 students. Sampling is based on the existing population using a proportional random sampling technique to obtain a total sample of 92 people. The data was collected using a questionnaire instrument and document recording methods. The statistical analysis used is simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis. The simple linear regression analysis results for testing hypotheses I and II show a significant effect of learning independence on the competency of mathematical knowledge and a significant effect of the character of learning responsibility on the competence of mathematical knowledge. The multiple linear regression analysis results showed a significant effect of learning independence and the character of student learning responsibility on the competence of mathematics knowledge of fifth-grade students in elementary school. It was concluded that there was a significant influence of learning independence and the character of students' learning responsibility on the competence of mathematics knowledge of fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Mathematics learning, particularly in the topic of fractions, often presents challenges for fourth-grade students due to its abstract nature and the lack of engaging instructional media. Therefore, this study aims to develop contextual problem-based animated video media to enhance students' understanding of fraction concepts and improve their learning motivation. The research employed the ADDIE development model. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires and tests. The questionnaires were used to gather feedback from experts and students, while the tests were designed to assess students' achievement in understanding fractions. Prior to use, the research instruments were piloted to ensure their validity and reliability. Validity was tested using the point-biserial correlation formula, whereas reliability was measured using the Kuder-Richardson 20 (KR-20) formula. Additionally, the difficulty level and discriminative power of test items were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis, qualitative descriptive analysis, and inferential statistical analysis (t-test). A normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk formula was conducted before the t-test to ensure the data followed a normal distribution. The findings indicate that the developed media met the criteria for feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. The use of contextual problem-based animated videos has proven to be an engaging and interactive alternative in mathematics instruction.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered an abstract subject and difficult for elementary school students to understand, especially flat material. The lack of interesting and contextual learning media makes students less motivated to learn. In fact, mathematics learning can be connected to local culture through an ethnomathematics approach, which can make abstract concepts more meaningful. This research aims to describe the design of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics, determine the feasibility of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics, and determine the effectiveness of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics on flat material. This development research uses the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this research were fourth grade elementary school students with a total of 31 students. The data collection methods used are interviews, observations, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis used is quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis, as well as inferential statistical analysis. The main results of this research show that digital comic media based on Balinese jejaitan ethnomathematics is effective in increasing understanding of the concept of flat shapes in fourth grade students. The media developed successfully links mathematical concepts with local culture, so that students understand the material more easily through examples that are familiar in their daily lives.  The implications of this research indicate that the integration of local culture into learning media, such as digital comics based on Balinese jejaitan ethnomathematics, can be an effective strategy for increasing understanding of basic mathematics concepts in elementary schools. By utilizing cultural elements that are close to students' lives, learning becomes more contextual, meaningful and interesting, thereby increasing students' motivation and active involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

This research departs from the fact that the lack of use of digital media in the learning process. Research with this development model aims to provide alternative learning media in the form of contextual-based digital comics on grade V angle measurement material to improve student learning outcomes. This research was conducted using the ADDIE model which consists of the stages of analysis, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects selected in this study consisted of one content expert, design expert, media expert, fifth grade teacher, three individual test students, and nine students for the small group test. The data in this study were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and multiple choices tests. The data that has been collected is then analysed using analysis techniques with quantitative descriptive approaches, qualitative descriptive, inferential statistical analysis. The findings in this digital comic product development research are as follows: (a) The results of product validity test through experts show that digital comic media have very valid qualifications; (b) the results of practicality test through teacher responses, individual tests, and small group tests obtained very practical qualifications; (c) the results of media effectiveness test through pre-test and post-test obtained effective qualifications. It can be concluded that the contextual-based digital comic media for mathematics content on angle measurement material is effective in improving learning outcomes, especially for grade V students.
