Abstract

The rapid expansion of online lending services in Indonesia has increased public access to financing while simultaneously raising legal, ethical, and Sharia compliance concerns. This study aims to examine online lending practices in Muara Sabak Timur District and assess their conformity with Islamic legal principles. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research draws on in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving users of online lending services. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of practice, underlying driving factors, and their social as well as normative implications. The findings indicate that the use of online loans is predominantly driven by consumptive needs and facilitated by ease of access and rapid disbursement, whereas users’ understanding of cost structures and contractual (akad) arrangements remains limited. The imposition of interest, ambiguity in contractual terms, and certain debt collection methods suggest potential inconsistencies with the principles of riba, gharar, and justice in muamalah. This study contributes to strengthening Islamic economic law analysis within the context of digital finance and provides a foundation for developing more equitable and Sharia-compliant digital financing models.

Abstract

Low levels of Islamic financial literacy among low- to middle-income communities remain a major challenge in optimizing the utilization of Islamic microfinance products. This condition often leads to pragmatic usage patterns that do not fully reflect an understanding of the underlying Sharia principles and contractual mechanisms. This study aims to examine in depth the level of Islamic financial literacy within the community and its relationship with the utilization of Islamic microfinance products. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, focusing on the lived experiences and subjective interpretations of low-income community members as users and prospective users of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) and Islamic cooperatives in Geragai District. Primary data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using source and method triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that community-level Islamic financial literacy remains at a basic level, particularly regarding the understanding of Sharia principles and akad (Islamic contracts), which significantly influences utilization patterns that are largely functional rather than optimal. These results underscore the importance of contextual, community-based Islamic financial education in strengthening sustainable Islamic financial inclusion and contribute empirically to the growing body of literature on Islamic financial literacy grounded in community experience.

Abstract

Digital transformation in higher education has become a strategic issue that requires institutional readiness to integrate technology into academic management and educational services. This study aims to analyze the level of readiness of higher education institutions, identify the influencing factors, and describe the implementation and challenges of digital transformation in higher education management. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study strategy, utilizing data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, which are analyzed using triangulation techniques and thematic coding. The findings indicate that digital transformation readiness is determined by three main dimensions, namely technological infrastructure, human resource competence, and organizational culture, which collectively influence the effectiveness of digital system implementation. In addition, the study reveals that the primary challenges include limited financial resources, low digital literacy, and resistance to change. This research contributes to strengthening a multidimensional perspective on digital transformation and offers practical implications for higher education administrators in designing more adaptive, integrated, and sustainable digitalization strategies.

Abstract

The culinary industry in the modern era is characterized by hyper-competition, often leading business practitioners to prioritize short-term profitability over ethical considerations, which results in deceptive marketing practices. This study aims to analyze the dialectical relationship between profitability and business morality by examining the marketing strategies of the Pagi Sore eatery in Talang Babat from the perspective of Islamic business ethics. Employing a descriptive-qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, passive participant observation, and documentation studies, subsequently analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction and inductive reasoning. The results demonstrate that the eatery successfully internalizes prophetic values shiddiq (truthfulness), amanah (trustworthiness), fathanah (wisdom), and tabligh (advocacy) into its marketing mix, particularly through halalan thoyyiban product assurance and transparent pricing. Crucially, the findings reveal a "Location Paradox," where the consistent application of Sharia principles serves as a potent moderating variable that neutralizes geographical disadvantages and fosters organic consumer loyalty through integrity-based competitive advantage. This study concludes that Islamic business ethics is not merely a normative religious obligation but a sophisticated strategic asset that ensures long-term business resilience and profitability. By transforming locational challenges into market strengths, this research provides a replicable framework for small-scale enterprises to harmonize ethical integrity with commercial success in a saturated market.

Abstract

This article examines the accountability of service providers in cases of loss or damage to goods from the perspective of Islamic law. The study aims to analyze the extent to which classical jurisprudence and contemporary scholarship offer a coherent foundation for resolving modern service-related issues. Employing a systematic literature review approach, data were gathered from open-access journal publications, focusing on works that specifically address the principles of amanah (trust) and daman (liability) within contractual frameworks. The review identifies several thematic categories, including the interpretation of accountability in classical texts, the application of liability in financial and logistics services, and the adaptation of shariah principles in contemporary service sectors. Findings reveal that accountability in Islamic law not only concerns contractual obligations but also embodies ethical and spiritual responsibilities, thereby reinforcing the protection of consumer rights in alignment with the objectives of maqasid al-shariah. The study contributes to the development of academic discourse on liability and accountability in Islamic jurisprudence while providing practical insights for policymakers and service providers in formulating fair and shariah-compliant service agreements.

Abstract

This article examines millennial behavioral patterns in adopting Islamic digital banking services using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the primary analytical framework. The study was conducted through a systematic literature review of empirical works published in reputable journals over the last five years, focusing on key factors influencing behavioral intention and actual usage. Data sources were drawn from international open-access databases, applying rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevance and quality. The review findings highlight that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, religiosity, and trust in Shariah compliance consistently emerge as dominant determinants. Moreover, social influences formed through peer groups and digital communities were found to strengthen the adoption process, especially in the millennial segment that is highly exposed to technology. These results underline the significance of integrating technological innovation with religious values to enhance user acceptance. The article contributes to the theoretical enrichment of TPB in the Islamic financial context while offering practical insights for financial institutions and policymakers to design digital banking strategies that are user-oriented, ethically grounded, and responsive to millennial digital behavior.
