Abstract

Plagiarism in the culinary business is now a frequent issue, especially when it involves two countries such as Indonesia and Australia. This study discusses the alleged plagiarism of the business concept carried out by Circles Bakery against Publique Bakery, starting from the appearance of their cakes, logos, and interior designs. The purpose of this study is to review the case from the perspective of business ethics and applicable legal regulations, both nationally and internationally. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The focus of this study is Circles Bakery as the perpetrator and Publique Bakery as the party suspected of being copied. Data were obtained from various sources such as media articles, social media uploads, and other supporting information relevant to the case. Researchers chose these sources deliberately because they were considered most relevant to the topic. The collected data were analyzed by filtering important information, compiling it, and drawing conclusions from the existing findings. The results of the study indicate that although there have been no official lawsuits, the striking similarities in concept between the two businesses raise ethical questions and concerns about copyright protection. This study suggests that business actors, especially MSMEs, should value the originality of ideas more and understand the importance of running a business in an honest and ethical manner. In addition, stronger legal and educational support is needed to prevent similar cases in the future.

Abstract

This study examines how differences in food safety regulations in Indonesia, Taiwan, and Malaysia impacted the recall of Indomie Special Chicken Flavor products in Taiwan and Malaysia. The main issue revealed is that regulatory differences led to the recall of the product, even though it met applicable Indonesian food safety standards and Codex Alimentarius standards. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to the recall and provide strategic recommendations to industry stakeholders. Employing descriptive qualitative methods and literature analysis, this study investigates the product recall caused by ethylene oxide (EtO) levels exceeding limits set by Taiwanese and Malaysian authorities. The results indicate that differences in export destination country regulations are a key factor in product recalls, requiring producers to understand and comply with local regulations more thoroughly. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of business ethics and transparent crisis communication strategies for maintaining corporate reputation and consumer trust. These findings offer strategic recommendations to industry stakeholders and policymakers for managing regulatory compliance and risk mitigation to ensure the sustainability of Indonesian food exports to global markets. Thus, this study contributes to a better understanding of international regulatory dynamics and their implications for the food industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crisis communication strategy employed by PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia in response to the seizure of IDR 11.8 trillion by the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025. In this case, a narrative conflict emerged between Wilmar, which claimed the funds were a form of “voluntary guarantee,” and the Attorney General’s Office, which asserted the funds were “evidence of a criminal act of corruption.” This research uses a qualitative approach with a single case study method and employs discourse analysis and framing analysis on official documents, media reports, and expert commentary. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Wilmar’s communication framing tends to mislead the public due to the absence of legal clarity. This framing contradicts key principles of business ethics, such as honesty, transparency, and social responsibility, and violates the fundamental standards of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). The lack of synchronization between the company’s legal and public relations divisions indicates weak internal coordination in managing legal crises. This study recommends that corporations establish integrated crisis communication systems involving legal teams and strengthen ethical and governance training for senior management. The results of this research offer a valuable contribution to the development of ethical and responsible corporate communication strategies in facing legal pressure..

Abstract

This research examines corruption practices within Indonesia's crude palm oil (CPO) export trade, which have led to scarcity and price hikes in the domestic cooking oil market. The main problem is the disparity between the abundant domestic supply of CPO and the shortage of cooking oil for consumers, indicating fraudulent and corrupt practices within the supply chain and export policies. The aim of this study is to analyze the forms of corruption occurring, identify weaknesses in the regulatory framework and oversight of CPO export trade, and formulate strategies for prosecuting corporate offenders and recommending improvements to the trade system. Using a qualitative research methodology with a case study approach on the cooking oil export corruption case, data were collected through document analysis, interviews, and policy analysis. The research findings indicate that corruption manifests through abuse of authority in granting export permits (export approvals and Domestic Market Obligation/DMO), manipulation of export volume data, and collusion between officials and corporations. Regulatory and oversight weaknesses, including the sub-optimal prosecution of corporations as legal subjects, also contribute to the problem. The recommendations include strengthening regulations on corporate liability for corruption, enhancing transparency and accountability in the export licensing system, and a comprehensive reform of the cooking oil trade system to ensure domestic availability and price stability.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the bankruptcy phenomenon of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), one of the largest textile companies in Southeast Asia, which is considered not only a financial failure, but also reflects the potential for deviations in business ethics and corporate governance. The main problem in this study is to critically analyze the alleged strategy used by PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex) in disguising corruption practices and financial irregularities through a fictitious bankruptcy scheme. The purpose of this study is to analyze in depth the alleged corporate strategy in disguising bankruptcy practices through a fictitious bankruptcy scheme, by making the case of PT Sritex as the main study. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach method by examining secondary data from court decisions, media coverage, and scientific articles to reveal patterns of misuse of legal instruments such as PKPU and bankruptcy status as a shield against legal accountability. The results of the study show strong indications of financial report manipulation, non-transparent collaboration between management and financial institutions, and weak implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles. This highlights the urgency of corporate governance reform and supervision of financial institutions to prevent abuse of the legal system. This study recommends in-depth reform of the corporate oversight system, increased transparency of reporting, and stricter law enforcement, to prevent similar abuses in the future and strengthen the integrity of business ethics in Indonesia.

Abstract

Layoffs are often used as efficiency measures by textile companies, but their impact on company performance still needs to be studied further. This study aims to evaluate the impact of layoff strategies on operational efficiency, productivity, and sustainability of textile companies. This study aims to analyze company strategies in implementing layoffs and evaluate their impact on company performance in the textile industry sector, especially in terms of operational efficiency, work productivity, and business sustainability. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of research article study and case study on 3 former employees of textile companies who experienced layoffs. The results of the study indicate that the layoff strategy implemented by textile companies tends to focus on short-term cost efficiency, but has an impact on decreasing employee motivation, increasing workload, and operational instability. Although financial efficiency is achieved, in the long term this strategy can reduce productivity and work loyalty, and affect the company's image. Companies are advised to design a more humanistic and communicative layoff strategy, and consider other efficiency alternatives before carrying out layoffs. A dialogue-based approach and employee retraining can help maintain the company's performance and reputation in the long term

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of business ethics and pricing on cunsomer purchasing decisions for cooking oil in Indonesia, focusing on the crisis of scarcity and price spikes during 2021-2022. As a staple commodity, cooking oil plays a vital role in the socio-economic landscape. Unethical practices such as hording and price manipulation by cartels have triggered public distrust and panic buying. Business ethics demand that companies act with fairness, social responsibility, and integrity, directly shaping cunsomer perceptions of fair and transparent pricing. Findings reveal that cunsomer consider ethical factors in their purchases, often preferring products from ethical companies even at higher prices. However, regulations like Indonesia’s Anti-Monopoly Law and Cunsomer Protection Law have not been fully effective in curbing these violations. The islamic economi perspective also highlight the importance of price justice and avoiding exploitation. This study uses a equalitative approach to analyze the interplay between business ethics, pricing, and purchasing decision, aiming to offer both theoretical insights and practical recommendations. The results suggest that businesses should prioritize ethucal considerations in pricing to build lasting cusomer trust. These findings are essential for echancing oversight and developing fair pricing polices in the cooking oil sector, contributing to more sustainable cunsomer confidence and market stability
