Abstract

This case study explores the successful design of local products that have achieved international recognition. In a globalized economy, many local products face significant challenges in entering international markets, often requiring strategic design innovation to compete. The importance of culturally relevant, functional, and aesthetically appealing designs has become essential for products aiming for international expansion. This research aims to identify the key factors that contribute to the success of local products in gaining international market share through effective product design. The objective of the study is to examine the role of product design in overcoming the barriers faced by local products in global markets, focusing on case studies of brands that have successfully navigated this process. The research employs a qualitative case study methodology, analyzing in-depth interviews with designers, product managers, and international marketing experts, as well as reviewing secondary data from product sales and market reports. The findings reveal that successful local products incorporated unique design elements that resonated with global consumer preferences while retaining local cultural identity. Moreover, product functionality and adaptability to different market needs were crucial in facilitating international success. Strategic marketing and branding also played significant roles in enhancing the global appeal of these products. In conclusion, local products that successfully transition to international markets do so by aligning their design with global trends while maintaining authenticity. This case study offers valuable insights for businesses seeking to expand their product designs beyond local borders.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EI) is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in adolescent development, influencing various aspects of social, emotional, and academic growth. Adolescence is a developmental stage marked by significant emotional and social changes, which makes the role of EI in shaping behavior and decision-making particularly important. Understanding how EI contributes to adolescent development can help inform educational practices aimed at fostering emotional and social competencies. This study explores the role of EI in adolescent development and its implications for educational practices. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative assessments of EI using the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i:YV) and qualitative interviews with teachers and students. The findings indicate that higher EI levels are associated with better academic performance, enhanced peer relationships, and improved emotional regulation. Adolescents with higher EI demonstrated greater resilience in managing stress and navigating social conflicts. The study concludes that incorporating EI-focused strategies into educational curricula can enhance students' emotional and social development, thereby improving both academic outcomes and overall well-being. The study suggests that emotional intelligence should be a central component of educational practices to support holistic adolescent development.

Abstract

Teacher feedback plays a central role in shaping students’ academic experiences, particularly during adolescence, a developmental stage marked by heightened sensitivity to evaluation and identity formation. While prior research has extensively examined the impact of feedback on academic achievement, limited attention has been given to its influence on student self-esteem and academic engagement in secondary education. This study aims to investigate the direct and indirect effects of teacher feedback on students’ self-esteem and academic engagement within a structural framework. A quantitative explanatory design was employed involving 512 secondary school students selected through stratified cluster sampling. Data were collected using validated Likert-scale instruments measuring perceived teacher feedback, self-esteem, and multidimensional academic engagement. Structural equation modeling was conducted to test hypothesized relationships among variables. Results indicate that teacher feedback significantly predicts both student self-esteem and academic engagement, with self-esteem partially mediating the relationship between feedback and engagement. The model explains a substantial proportion of variance in engagement outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of constructive and supportive feedback practices in fostering positive self-concept and sustained classroom participation. Strengthening feedback quality may therefore enhance both psychological well-being and academic involvement among secondary school students.

Abstract

Military policing operates at the intersection of disciplinary authority and civilian engagement, creating complex tensions between enforcement mandates and human rights obligations in contemporary security environments. Expanding roles in peacekeeping, internal security, and hybrid operations have exposed gaps in legal clarity and accountability mechanisms. This study aims to examine how legal authority is defined and applied in military policing and how human rights boundaries are maintained under dual mandates. A qualitative doctrinal and socio-legal approach was employed, combining analysis of legal instruments, comparative frameworks, and secondary operational data across jurisdictions. Findings indicate that while disciplinary authority is comprehensively regulated, civilian engagement rules, detention safeguards, and oversight mechanisms remain inconsistently defined. Policy coherence, institutional oversight, and training significantly influence compliance with human rights standards, while legal ambiguity increases reliance on discretion and risk of violations. The study concludes that effective military policing requires harmonized legal frameworks, explicit operational guidelines, and strengthened accountability systems to balance authority with rights protection. Integration of legal clarity and institutional capacity is essential for ensuring consistent and rights-compliant practice in evolving security contexts.

Abstract

The rapid growth of large-scale smart environments, including smart cities, autonomous transportation systems, and smart grids, has necessitated advanced decision-making mechanisms capable of adapting to dynamic and complex conditions. Intelligent agent systems (IAS) offer a promising solution by enabling decentralized, autonomous decision-making based on real-time data. This study explores the application of IAS for adaptive decision-making in large-scale smart environments, focusing on the challenges of scalability, resource allocation, and system responsiveness. The primary objective is to design and evaluate an intelligent agent system capable of operating efficiently in diverse, complex environments. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining simulations and real-world implementations in various smart environments, including energy grids, smart cities, and industrial automation systems. The results indicate that while IAS can perform effectively in smaller environments, performance decreases in large-scale systems due to increased agent interaction and data complexity. Scalability and adaptability remain significant challenges, with response times and resource allocation efficiency declining as the system size grows. The study concludes that further advancements are required in communication protocols and machine learning algorithms to enhance the scalability and real-time decision-making of IAS in large, interconnected systems.

Abstract

Soil compaction plays a crucial role in determining the stability of structures, particularly in earthquake-prone regions. Inadequate compaction can lead to soil liquefaction and settlement, increasing the risk of structural failure during seismic events. Understanding the impact of different soil compaction methods is essential for enhancing building resilience. This study aims to evaluate the influence of various soil compaction techniques on the stability of buildings in earthquake-prone areas. It seeks to identify the most effective methods that can improve soil properties and overall structural integrity. A comparative analysis was conducted using laboratory experiments and field tests. Different compaction methods, including static, dynamic, and vibratory compaction, were applied to soil samples. The study measured parameters such as soil density, moisture content, and shear strength to assess the effects of each method on soil stability. The findings reveal that dynamic compaction significantly improves soil density and shear strength compared to static and vibratory methods. Structures built on dynamically compacted soil exhibited greater resilience to seismic forces, demonstrating lower risks of liquefaction and settlement during earthquakes. The research concludes that the choice of soil compaction method is vital for ensuring the stability of buildings in earthquake-prone regions. Dynamic compaction emerges as the most effective technique, providing enhanced soil properties that contribute to structural resilience. Future studies should explore the long-term effects of compaction methods and their implications for building codes and practices in seismic areas.

Abstract

Drought is a primary constraint on maize (Zea mays L.) productivity worldwide, threatening global food security. The development of climate-resilient crops is therefore a critical priority. This study aimed to enhance drought tolerance in maize by utilizing the CRISPR-Cas9 system to edit a key negative regulator gene involved in the drought stress response pathway. The research employed an Agrobacterium-mediated transformation method to introduce the CRISPR-Cas9 construct into maize embryos. Putative edited plants were rigorously screened using molecular techniques, including PCR and Sanger sequencing, to confirm successful gene modification. Validated T1 generation lines were then subjected to controlled drought stress conditions in greenhouse trials and subsequently evaluated in multi-location field trials. The edited maize lines exhibited significantly improved physiological and agronomic performance under water-deficit conditions, including enhanced photosynthetic efficiency, reduced leaf water loss, and a 15-20% increase in grain yield compared to non-edited wild-type controls. This study demonstrates the efficacy of CRISPR-Cas9 for developing drought-tolerant maize, offering a precise and rapid strategy for crop improvement to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Abstract

The early and accurate detection of disease biomarkers is fundamental to timely diagnosis and effective treatment, yet conventional laboratory methods are often slow, costly, and require complex instrumentation. Nanozymes—nanomaterials with intrinsic enzyme-like properties—offer a promising alternative for developing robust biosensors. This study aimed to design, synthesize, and validate a novel hybrid nanozyme-enabled biosensor platform capable of the sensitive, selective, and real-time multiplexed detection of biomarkers for different diseases from a single sample. A hybrid nanozyme was synthesized by integrating platinum nanoparticles with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to create a material with superior catalytic activity. This hybrid nanozyme was then immobilized onto a multi-channel electrochemical sensor chip. Each channel was functionalized with specific aptamers targeting three distinct biomarkers: cardiac troponin I (a cardiac marker), prostate-specific antigen (a cancer marker), and glucose (a metabolic marker). The detection was based on the catalytic signal amplification upon biomarker binding. The platform showed excellent selectivity with negligible cross-reactivity between channels and achieved a rapid detection time of under 15 minutes. The multiplexed assay successfully and accurately quantified all three biomarkers simultaneously in complex serum samples. The hybrid nanozyme-enabled electrochemical biosensor represents a significant advancement in diagnostic technology.

Abstract

Background. This research examines how environmental themes are presented in 21st-century literature and the extent to which these themes influence readers’ ecological awareness. In recent years, literature has increasingly served as a platform to address environmental issues, reflecting growing global concerns about climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and ecological degradation. Fictional narratives have the power to shape public perceptions by portraying the intricate relationship between humans and nature, raising awareness about the consequences of human actions, and encouraging sustainable behaviors. This study seeks to understand how contemporary authors incorporate environmental themes into their works and how readers respond to such narratives. Purpose. The main objective of this research is to explore how environmental narratives in contemporary fiction affect readers’ perceptions, awareness, and attitudes toward environmental issues. It aims to identify the most common environmental themes used in 21st-century literature and assess their potential to promote ecological awareness and encourage conservation efforts. Method. The research employs a qualitative approach, combining textual analysis and in-depth interviews with readers. Thirty contemporary literary works were purposively selected for analysis, covering various genres and cultural backgrounds. The environmental themes, narrative techniques, and ecological messages embedded in these works were examined, while interviews provided insights into how readers interpreted and responded to these narratives. Results. The study finds that environmental themes such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, species extinction, and ecological rehabilitation are prominently featured. These themes effectively engage readers, fostering greater awareness and critical reflection on environmental issues. Conclusion. The study concludes that 21st-century literature plays a significant role in shaping ecological awareness and inspiring readers to take an active role in environmental conservation efforts. Through engaging storytelling, literature can serve as a powerful tool to influence ecological consciousness and promote sustainability.

Abstract

Islamic mysticism and spirituality have long constituted a central dimension of Muslim religious life, with Sufism serving as a primary vehicle for cultivating inner piety, ethical refinement, and experiential knowledge of the Divine. In contemporary Muslim societies shaped by modernization, globalization, and shifting religious expressions, the relevance and function of Sufism continue to be debated. This study aims to analyze the role of Sufism in modern Muslim society by examining its spiritual, ethical, and social significance within contemporary contexts. The research employed a qualitative interpretive design, drawing on semi-structured interviews, textual analysis of contemporary Sufi discourses, and observational data from selected Sufi communities. Data were analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns related to spirituality, social engagement, and adaptation to modern life. The findings reveal that Sufism remains a meaningful and adaptive form of Islamic spirituality, contributing to personal spiritual fulfillment, ethical orientation, and social cohesion. Engagement with Sufi practices was associated with inner discipline, emotional balance, and a heightened sense of moral responsibility. The study concludes that Sufism functions as a dynamic spiritual resource rather than a residual tradition, offering frameworks for meaning-making and ethical engagement in modern Muslim society.
