Abstract

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have assumed a prominent role within the academic landscape of numerous countries. Recently, governmental authorities have granted authorization for NGOs to actively participate in augmenting the quality of educational endeavours. The present research aims to delve comprehensively into the perspectives of school principals regarding the active engagement of NGOs in elevating educational standards within the context of Indonesia. Employing qualitative research methods, the study conducted in-depth interviews with a cohort of five elementary school principals located in Surabaya. This investigative approach underscores the acknowledgment of a multifaceted, dynamic, and contextual reality, marked by inherent subjectivity and fluidity, intertwined within the socio-cultural and political milieu. Employing inductive processes, the research employs techniques of data condensation, encoding, categorization, and theorization to facilitate the analysis of the collected data. The resultant findings from this empirical inquiry have revealed the emergence of three overarching thematic constructs: firstly, the formulation of partnership policies involving driving organizations or NGOs; secondly, the cultivation of shared educational responsibilities; and lastly, the discernible benefits stemming from the active involvement of NGOs. The unfolding of an innovative model, borne out of the collaborative policy framework with NGOs, serves as a distinctive political and institutional approach that facilitates the orchestration of collective efforts. This model notably substantiates its efficacy in fostering mutually beneficial collaborations, thereby introducing novel paradigms, methodologies, and educational resources.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the instillation of Tauhid (monotheism) values through Quranic farm-based learning at SMP Sekolah Quranpreneur Indonesia. Tauhid, the Islamic concept of the oneness of Allah, is essential in shaping students' spiritual and moral development. Integrating it with practical learning methods like farming provides a unique pedagogical approach that combines religious teachings with hands-on activities. The research employed a qualitative methodology to provide an in-depth understanding of the processes involved. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, offering multiple perspectives on the teaching and learning activities. Data analysis followed the steps of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that the instillation of Tauhid values is carried out through both in-class and outdoor learning activities. In the classroom, students are taught the principles of Tauhid through traditional instructional methods. Outside the classroom, students engage in gardening practices where they integrate Tauhid values with hands-on activities. During these gardening sessions, students recite and memorize Quranic verses (murojaah) while caring for the plants. This dual approach serves to reinforce the values of trust in Allah, gratitude, patience, and justice through both spiritual and practical dimensions. The integration of Tauhid values into practical learning activities like farming helps to deepen students' understanding and appreciation of these values. The combination of classroom instruction and experiential learning in the garden creates a holistic learning experience that connects religious knowledge with everyday practices. This study highlights the importance of creative teaching approaches in instilling core spiritual values in students. The study concludes that Quranic farm learning is an effective method for instilling Tauhid values in students. By combining classroom teaching with practical gardening activities, students are able to internalize the principles of Tauhid in a meaningful way. Future research could further explore the impact of such integrative learning models on student development in other educational settings.

Abstract

Inclusive education involves ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities, have access to and participate fully in their educational environment as a fundamental right. Central to this is the concept of teacher self-efficacy, which refers to a teacher's belief in their ability to effectively instruct diverse learners. Teachers with high self-efficacy are more likely to approach disabilities with a positive and inclusive mindset, whereas those with lower self-efficacy often demonstrate less inclusive attitudes. This study aimed to assess whether teachers in inclusive primary schools possess the self-efficacy needed to effectively teach students with disabilities. A descriptive and quantitative methodology was employed, involving all 40 teachers within the study. Findings revealed that teachers in inclusive elementary schools tend to exhibit lower self-efficacy when addressing disabilities outside their area of expertise. Across various self-efficacy dimensions—such as inclusive teaching, collaboration, and behavior management—teachers were generally rated as moderate, regardless of the extent of direct interaction with students with disabilities. The results indicate a need for targeted professional development and training to enhance teachers' ability to support students with disabilities more effectively.

Abstract

This research investigates the development of anti-bullying education models in Islamic boarding schools between 2019 and 2024, with a focus on the effectiveness of prevention and intervention strategies. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which involves article inclusion and exclusion criteria as well as data extraction and synthesis processes from two main databases, namely Google Scholar and ERIC, through the Publish or Perish version 8 application. A total of 146 articles were identified, but after selection process, only 25 articles met the inclusion criteria, while publications in the form of books and seminar proceedings were excluded due to the tendency for peer-review to be less stringent. The research results show that the two main models, namely early prevention and intervention against perpetrators and victims of bullying, have developed significantly. While both models are important, a humanist educational approach to prevention has stronger potential to reduce bullying incidents. In addition, a comprehensive holistic approach was found which includes humanist, sociological, participatory and psychotherapeutic educational aspects through dhikr. These findings provide practical insights for stakeholders to improve anti-bullying curricula and develop intervention strategies that are more sensitive to the cultural and religious context in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Problem-solving (PS) skills are efforts to find solutions when faced with challenges. This study aims to examine students' mathematical PS skills by focusing on the influence of learning motivation and identifying factors that were previously overlooked. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used, where the researcher acted as the primary instrument. The research also utilized PISA-type test instruments, observation sheets, and interviews. PISA-type questions were designed around content, context, and process components, adhering to the PISA framework. The study was conducted in a school in Surakarta, chosen for its alignment with the minimum competency assessment system similar to PISA. Using snowball sampling, nine students were selected for response analysis. These students were categorized based on their motivation levels: high, moderate, and low. The results show that students with high motivation are proactive in problem-solving, directly addressing the problem, reviewing each step as they proceed, and ensuring accuracy. Moderately motivated students take more time, often using scratch paper, and review their work only at the end. Low-motivation students face greater difficulties, frequently making mistakes, relying heavily on scratch paper, and often skipping the review process due to time pressure. To improve PS skills, future research could explore the integration of interactive digital tools with instant feedback, adaptive learning platforms tailored to student motivation, and collaborative learning exercises. Additionally, incorporating real-world scenarios into problem-based learning could enhance engagement and develop deeper problem-solving abilities across different motivation levels.
