Abstract

In the context of STEM-based open inquiry learning, scaffolding transfer involves providing assistance that enables students to explore, experiment, and investigate problems or questions independently. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of scaffolding transfer in STEM-based open inquiry learning during an electromagnetics practicum. This research used a qualitative method with a participatory observation design. The research subjects were 34 students who participated in the electromagnetics practicum. The research instruments consisted of observation guides and field notes. Data were collected through direct observation during the practicum and the analysis of related documents. Data analysis was conducted through coding to identify scaffolding patterns and their transfer. The results showed that there are variations in the percentage of scaffolding provided in STEM-based open inquiry learning on different topics.  This variation reflects the dynamics of changing student needs along with the complexity of the material. These results also show that scaffolding is dynamic because the level of support can increase again when students encounter new concepts or difficult concepts. In addition, the highest scaffolding in the open inquiry process occurs at the “asking questions” stage, which indicates a great need for help at the beginning of learning. In contrast, no scaffolding was provided at the stage of “communicating the results of the investigation,” which reflects students' independence.

Abstract

In order to meet the challenge of 21st-century skills, every human resource must be prepared with complex problem-solving skills. Colleges, particularly state colleges in Pekanbaru City, have a vested interest in helping their students develop 21st-century skills. To overcome these problems, we need a 21st-century approach for college students, particularly Riau University students. No one has yet evaluated the long-term viability of the use of 21st-century talents at Riau University. As a result, the author is interested in doing research to develop a strategy to improve students' 21st-century abilities at the University of Riau. The study was conducted solely on Riau University students. The Simple Random Sampling Technique was used to choose the samples. Riau University has a total of 35.785 students spread across the faculty. Based on the necessary sample size chart, the number of samples necessary is 654, with a confidence rating of 99% and a margin of error of 5%. As the results of the analysis, it is possible to identify multidimensional sustainability status at a value of 74.88, where this value is in the range of 50,01–75,00, with a fairly sustainable category. This condition gives the idea that the updating of 21st-century skills by students at Riau University is only in a sufficient category, or, in a state of warning to stakeholders. Riau University can ensure that its students not only have strong academic knowledge but also have the relevant and necessary skills to cope with the complex dynamics of the 21st century by implementing robust strategies and involving all stakeholders.

Abstract

Fostering an attitude of religious moderation among students can be achievable when all stakeholders collaborate to create a cohesive understanding of moderation. This study examines the role of universities in promoting religious moderation among students at State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institution (hereafter, PTKIN) Aceh. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and observations. Interviews involved academics focused on religious moderation at PTKIN, while FGDs included students from five state Islamic universities in Aceh, selected purposively to provide insights on students' attitudes and views on religious moderation. Observations were conducted to assess students' attitudes and behaviors. The findings reveal that students exhibit moderate attitudes in daily life, are willing to collaborate socially and respect others' rights and obligations in worship. Challenges in instilling religious moderation values include the need for acceptance of the term within the context of local wisdom and avoiding the perception of moderation as a new religious project. Solutions involve preparing a curriculum based on Islamic tolerance and strengthening the role of religious moderation houses to promote Islamic washatiyah values among students, facilitating easier understanding and implementation in daily life.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model on the cultural literacy skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 183 Pekanbaru. With growing emphasis on cultural literacy in education, it is essential to evaluate effective pedagogical approaches, such as cooperative learning, that may enhance these skills. A quantitative approach was used with a quasi-experimental design, employing a non-equivalent control group format. Simple random sampling selected 50 students, with 25 placed in the experimental group (class IV D) and 25 in the control group (class IV A). Data were collected using pretests, posttests, and cultural literacy questionnaires. Analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 24, with hypothesis testing conducted through an independent sample t-test. The hypothesis test showed no significant difference in cultural literacy skills between the experimental and control groups. The independent t-test yielded a significance value of 0.828 (p 0.05), leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis (H0) and rejection of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Furthermore, the n-gain test in the experimental group indicated a mean score of 0.23 (≤ 0.3), suggesting the STAD model contributed to a 23% improvement in cultural literacy skills. Although the STAD cooperative learning model demonstrated only a modest influence on students’ cultural literacy, the 23% improvement is meaningful given the study's constraints. This suggests that STAD has potential but requires further investigation under varying conditions. The STAD cooperative learning model has a limited but noteworthy effect on enhancing students' cultural literacy, warranting additional research to explore its full potential.

Abstract

The implementation of character education is currently faced with various challenges, including the lack of collaboration between formal education institutions (schools), non-formal education (community), and informal education (family). Character education implemented in schools is still theoretical and textual and does not touch the context of daily life based on the local wisdom values of the local community. This research investigates local wisdom-based character education management in the ternate context through a teacher, parent, and community collaboration model. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out through focus group discussions (FGD), in-depth interviews, and observations to explore stakeholder perspectives on character education. This research data was analyzed descriptively through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this research reveal the success of character education management through three main programs at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, namely the sigaro malaha (doing good) community formation program, which brings together elements of the school, family, and community. The dodoto se biasa program (teaching and habituation) for students, and the maku gawene pekan program (Embracing Each Other) in order to strengthen family attitudes and instill social character in children. These results have an impact on the holistic development of children's characters such as tolerance, collaboration (cooperation), responsibility, empathy, and love of the environment

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of blocking and fortification games on the physical fitness level of elementary school students. The research method used was experimental using a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and the sample consisted of 54 students. Data collection techniques are 1) documents taken from the results of learning notes during the treatment delivery process, and 2) physical fitness tests is to know physical fitness level. The data analysis technique uses the t-test, but the data analysed must have a normal distribution so that the level of normality and homogeneity of the data is first tested. The t-test results for the Hadang and Bentengan games showed statistically significant increases in physical fitness (e.g., t = 29.105 for Hadang, t = 21.236 for Bentengan, both p 0.05)., so it can be concluded that there was an increase in physical fitness through the Bentengan game. Students' physical fitness levels experienced a significant increase in sprints, pull-ups, sit-ups, vertical jumps and short-distance running activities. The results of this research also have implications for the development of various types of traditional games for other physical fitness learning activities or other health, sports and physical fitness learning activities. Teachers can design types of games as teaching techniques and can be adjusted to the age needs of students such as for elementary or junior high school levels.
