Abstract

Research conducted at Jakarta Harbor Hospital in 2024 aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dragon fruit in increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with mild anemia. Anemia is a common condition at the hospital, affecting around 30% of pregnant women in 2022. The study involved 36 third-trimester pregnant women with anemia. Hemoglobin levels were measured using a digital Hb meter (Quick Check), blood lancet, and strip. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods. The paired sample t-test was applied if the data followed a normal distribution, while the Wilcoxon test was used for non-normal distributions. After 14 days of administering dragon fruit, the study found an average increase in hemoglobin levels of 0.538 g/dL. This indicates that dragon fruit is effective in raising hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with mild anemia.

Abstract

Indonesia has the highest caesarean section rate globally, with a prevalence of 17.6% in 2018, rising to 22.50% among urban women by 2021, far exceeding the WHO recommendation of 10-15%. Although caesarean sections can be life-saving, they carry higher risks of complications for both mother and baby compared to normal delivery. This study aims to evaluate the impact of reproductive biology educational interventions on reducing elective caesarean sections at Aulia Pandeglang Regional Hospital in Banten in 2024. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pre and Post Test approach, the research shows that such educational interventions significantly lower elective caesarean rates. Pre-test data revealed that 70% of cases were in the medium category, while post-test data showed a reduction to 43% in the low category. All respondents participated in both pre-test and post-test evaluations. The findings strongly support the effectiveness of reproductive biology education in decreasing elective caesarean sections, prompting Aulia Pandeglang Regional Hospital to continue its educational program for pregnant women to promote normal delivery.

Abstract

Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik is one of the traditional medicinal plants from Palu City, Central of Sulawesi with the Malvaceae plant family and commonly is a traditional medicinal plants recognized fot its therapeutic potential, particularly in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound healing applications. This research aims to identify and characterize the chemical compounds present in Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik plant from Palu City, Central of Sulawesi using  liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). This research was collected fresh plant, designed using ethanol extraction from Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik and analyzed using mass spectroscopy (LC-HRMS) with Processing Software – MZMine Ver. 3.9.0. The results of this study  provide new insights into the chemical composition of Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik and confirm its potential as a source of bioactive compounds that could be futher explored for pharmaceutical development, namely that it contains the main compound Quercetin with a mass of 303.04, Gossypetin; Myricetin with a mass of 319.04, Quercetin 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnoside with a mass of 449.10 Isoquercetin; Hyperoside; Hyperin; Hirsutrin with a mass of 465.10, Gossypol with a mass of 519.20 and rutin with a mass of 291.08.

Abstract

Gastric ulcers can be triggered by excessive HCl secretion, and the regenerative capacity of mucosal cells can be weakened by high alcohol levels and anti-inflammatory drugs, including NSAIDs. Gastrin functions to stimulate the secretion of gastric juice, particularly HCl and pepsinogen This study aims to evaluate the macroscopic and microscopic gastroprotective activity of clove leaf ethanol extract mucoadhesive granule formulations. The study used 25 rats divided into five groups: normal control, negative control, positive control, clove leaf ethanol extract group, and mucoadhesive granule formulation of clove leaf ethanol extract group. All groups except the normal control were administered acetylsalicylic acid. Treatments were conducted over 9 days, with surgical examination and observations performed macroscopically and microscopically on day 10. Macroscopic assessments revealed ulcer damage improvement in the positive control, extract, and mucoadhesive granule groups, all scored at 1. Microscopic assessments also indicated a significant difference between the negative control and the positive control, extract, and mucoadhesive granule groups, showing better gastric repair, scored at 0.5. Therefore, it can be concluded that the administration of the mucoadhesive granule formulation of clove leaf ethanol extract exhibits gastroprotective activity comparable to that of the clove leaf ethanol extract.

Abstract

Earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) contain the compound lumbricin, which is beneficial for treatment, and its use is still simple, leading to the innovation of gastroretentive mucoadhesive granule formulations. However, its security has not yet been fully supported by research. This research aims to determine the toxic effects caused by earthworm granule preparations in terms of toxicity symptoms and the determination of the LD50 value. This research used 20 male white rats that were randomly divided into 4 groups. One control group was given Aquadest, and three treatment groups were given earthworm granules at doses of 500 mg/kgBB (P1), 2000 mg/kgBB (P2), and 5000 mg/kgBB (P3) with a single oral administration. The research results indicate that the preparation of earthworm granules (Lumbricus rubellus) causes toxic symptoms such as decreased locomotor activity, piloerection, and increased grooming frequency in line with the increase in dosage, but does not result in the death of the test animals. (LD50). Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the LD50 value of the earthworm granules (Lumbricus rubellus) is >5000 mg/kgBB and falls into the practically non-toxic category with an LD50 range of 5–15 g/kgBB

Abstract

Lumbricus rubellus contains lumbricin which is efficacious for treating typhoid fever. The aim of the research was to determine the effectiveness of gastroretentive mucoadhesive granule preparations from earthworm flour. This study used 30 male Wistar rats which were divided into 6 groups which were given orally, the normal and negative control groups were given Na-CMC, the positive control group was given chloramphenicol, and the treatment group was given doses of 200 mg/kgBW, 400 mg/kgBW and 800 mg/kgBW. mg/kgBB gastroretentive mucoadhesive granules earthworm flour. The results of body temperature measurements, on day 7 the control group obtained results of ±37.08, ±39.00 and ±38.09 respectively, and the treatment group obtained results of ±38.09, ±38.09 and ±38.07 respectively. On day 21, the control group obtained results of ±37.08, ±39.00 and ±38.09, respectively, and the treatment group obtained results of ±38.09, ±38.09 and ±38.07, respectively. The Widal test results on the 7th day were positive and after 14 days of administering the preparation on the 21st day the results were negative. It was concluded that the effective dose for typhoid fever therapy was a dose of 400 mg/kgBW.

Abstract

Menopause marks the end of a woman's menstrual cycle, typically around age 51 in Indonesia. Early menopause, before age 45, increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and mental health issues. This study examined factors affecting menopause age, including BMI, excess weight, menstrual disorders, genetics, collagen supplement use, diabetes history, parity, hormonal contraception, age at menarche, fast food consumption, and nutritional status. Data from 1683 menopausal women were collected through questionnaires, BMI calculations, and analyzed using chi-square tests with SPSS 25. Results showed no significant influence of BMI, excess weight, genetics, collagen supplements, diabetes, fast food, or nutritional status on menopause age (p > 0.05). However, parity, hormonal contraception, age at menarche, and menstrual disorders significantly influenced menopause timing (p < 0.05). These findings offer insights for improving women’s reproductive health and guiding preventive measures.

Abstract

The need for halal products is essential, particularly among various processed beef products like meatballs, which are popular among nearly the entire community. These products are susceptible to issues of meat counterfeiting for greater economic gain. This study aims to determine the smallest DNA concentration that can still be detected and to assess whether there is any pork contamination in meatballs circulating in Palu City using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This test uses four DNA samples obtained from fresh meat to test the specificity of the primer: wild boar, rat, and goat DNA samples as comparisons, and pig DNA as a positive control. The presence of DNA bands in the agarose gel electrophoresis visualization results indicates that DNA amplification has occurred, meaning that the sample can be detected. The analysis results showed that the primer used (Cyt-b) had good specificity for detecting pork DNA, while the absolute pork DNA concentration of 0.01 ng/µL and the reference meatball DNA with a concentration of 0.01% are the smallest limits that can still be detected using PCR. Of the four meatball samples from Palu City, one sample produced a DNA band, indicating that the sample contains or is contaminated with pig DNA. This method is valid as it meets the specificity test and demonstrates a good detection limit.

Abstract

This study aims to explore research trends on media training kits in vocational education, which have become crucial in preparing skilled workers to meet modern industry demands. Media training kits are essential tools that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, simulating real working conditions to enhance students' skills. Despite their growing use, research on their effectiveness, design, and innovation remains fragmented and poorly structured. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database to systematically map the landscape of media training kit research, identifying key publications, influential authors, major journals, and prevalent research topics. The analysis revealed significant gaps in the literature, underlining the need for continuous research to evaluate technological advancements, such as virtual simulations and augmented reality, in training kits. Results highlight the importance of integrating interactive and adaptive training kits to support evolving pedagogical and technological approaches in vocational education. This study provides valuable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers, helping them make informed decisions to enhance the development and application of media training kits, ultimately improving the quality and relevance of vocational education in response to industry needs.

Abstract

The problem in this research is the lack of explosive power of the leg muscles of pencak silat leg pencak silat catch snake roll in Lintau. For this reason, pencak silat leg pencak silat catch snake roll in Lintau needs to be trained programmatically through training principles that can be carried out both theoretically and practically in achieving maximum explosive power. There are several forms of exercise that can increase leg muscle explosive power, including an exercise program by going up and down stairs. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research. The population is the Pencak Silat College of tungkai pencak silat tangkap gulung ular in Lintau. Samples were taken by total sampling technique so that the sample amounted to 15 people. The research instrument uses a vertical jump test and the data analysis technique used is the t test hypothesis testing. As a result of research and hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that "There is an effect of going up and down stairs on the explosiveness of leg muscles in Pencak Silat Tangkap Snake Roll, which is evidenced by the tcount > ttable with a value of (3,310> 1,761).
