Abstract

Based on challenges in physics education, complex and abstract fluid dynamics, improving critical thinking skills is crucial for 21st-century learning. Needs analysis of 59 XI SMA Negeri 2 Plus Banyuasin III students revealed 90% had never used AR-based flashcards and showed high interest. The study aimed to develop valid, practical, and effective augmented reality-based flashcards using Research and Development (R&D) methodology with the Rowntree model and Tessmer formative evaluation. The research process involved planning, development, and evaluation stages. Results demonstrated high validity across components: media (93.33%), material (93.32%), critical thinking skills (96.66%), language (97.77%), and design (100%). Practicality assessments showed 95.18% in one-to-one and 95.73% in small group evaluations. The media effectively enhanced critical thinking skills with an N-Gain of 0.71, indicating high potential for dynamic fluids learning in grade XI. Conclusively, the augmented reality-based flashcards proved valid, practical, and effective for physics education.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a global health problem with a growing prevalence. Blood glucose levels that remain high can cause damage to various body tissues. including the pancreas. Durian seeds contain bioactive compounds such as alkaloids. triterpenoids. phenolics. and flavonoids that can reduce blood sugar levels. This study is an experimental study with a posttest only controlled group design conducted at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy. University of North Sumatra and the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of the Royal Prima Medan Hospital for more than 3 months. From the results of this study. durian fruit seed extract (Durio zibethinus Murr) in the phytochemical compound test contained alkaloids. saponins. flavonoids. and glycosides. With doses of 150 mg. 300 mg. and 450 mg proven to reduce blood sugar levels (KGD) in streptozotocin-induced Wistar rats. The highest dose in reducing blood sugar levels (KGD) with a dose of 450 mg. The group with a dose of 300 mg showed the best results in increasing the diameter of the islets of Langerhans.

Abstract

Eel fish (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard) oil is a valuable source of health-promoting unsaturated fatty acids. Adsorbent selection during the bleaching stage of fish oil purification can significantly impact the final product quality.  This study aimed to evaluate the impact of different adsorbents on the quality of refined eel fish (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard) oil. Eel fish oil was extracted using Soxhlet extraction with diethyl ether and purified through degumming, neutralization, and bleaching stages. Various adsorbents (bentonite, magnesol XL, and zeolite) were employed at different concentrations (1% bentonite, 3% magnesol XL, and 5% & 10% zeolite activated by acid and base) to remove impurities. The refined oils were analyzed for physical, chemical, and microbiological properties. Results showed that all adsorbents effectively improved the quality of eel fish oil, meeting most International Fish Oil Standard (IFOS) and Indonesian National Standard (SNI - 8467:2018) criteria. However, density and iodine values were below the specified limits. Microbiological analysis confirmed the absence of contamination, but lead levels exceeded the permissible standard.

Abstract

Low nutrient along with intense sunlight levels in sandy drylands, often lead to poor crops yield. This study examined the effects of soil amendments and shading on the yield of red chili plants cultivated in a sandy (70% sand, 15% clay and 15% silt) dryland environment. The experiment was conducted in Gumantar Village, North Lombok Regency from May to September 2024. The C-organic content of the soil was 1.11% with only 0.09% of total nitrogen. The soil amendment treatments included no soil amendment, chicken manure, and seaweed biochar. The shading treatments consisted of two levels: no shading and shading using a 200-micron UV plastic with 14% diffusive ultraviolet ray. All treatments were arranged factorially using a randomized block design with three replications. The results indicated that soil amendments and shading did not significantly affect plant growth, certain soil chemical properties, or microbial populations, possibly due to its short time effect. However, both types of soil amendments and UV plastic shading increased the yield of red chili plants by approximately 6.0% compared to the treatment without any amendments or without shading. This study shows that soil amendment and shading with UV plastic improve tomato yield in sandy dryland soils.

Abstract

The yield of tomato plants in dryland areas has been suboptimal due to environmental constraints such as poor soil health and high sunlight intensity. Appropriate agronomic modifications are necessary to improve crop yields while maintaining soil health. This study investigated the impact of various agronomic modification treatments on the growth and yield of tomato plants in dryland regions. The experiment was conducted in Gumantar Village, North Lombok Regency, during the dry season from June to August 2023. The agronomic modifications included a seaweed biochar treatment at a rate of 10 tons per hectare and 45% shading, with a control group that had no modifications. Three treatments were tested on two varieties of tomato plants: hybrid and local superior. The treatments were organized with four replications in a randomized complete block design with split plots, where agronomic modifications served as the main plots and the tomato varieties as the subplots. The results indicated that the interaction of agronomic modifications and plant varieties impacted the growth of tomato plants and various environmental factors. The hybrid variety under shading treatment exhibited the best growth. Additionally, this hybrid variety produced 59.6% more fruit than the local superior variety, yielding an average of 66 fruits and weighing 3.00 kg per plant. This study suggests that incorporating agronomic modifications, such as biochar treatment and selecting the appropriate variety, can enhance tomato yields in dryland areas.

Abstract

SSVEP-based Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) utilize steady-state visual evoked potentials, which are brain responses triggered by visual stimuli flickering at specific frequencies. Users can focus on these stimuli, allowing the system to interpret their intent based on the brain's electrical activity. This technology has applications in communication for individuals with disabilities, gaming, and neuro-feedback, offering an ultimate means of interaction through thought alone. In this study, systematic literature review was conducted to identify analytical methods for SSVEP spellers with PRISMA method from the eligibility criteria. CCA and its extension become gold-standar method that give excellent performances for SSVEP recognition and signal classification. Some uniques features also found such as MsetCCA, FB-CCA, MF-CCA, TW-CCA, CP-CCA, IIS-CCA, TT-CCA and RLS-CCA. Therefore, we have various options for choosing the best method for recognizing SSVEP from EEG signals based BCI.

Abstract

This study examines trends in digital literacy research within higher education from an Islamic perspective while identifying opportunities for its development. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, 188 articles were sourced from Scopus, Sinta 1, and Sinta 2 databases, with 37 articles published between 2019 and 2024 meeting the inclusion criteria for analysis. Guided by the PRISMA framework, the review ensured the validity and reliability of findings, while bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer 1.6.20. The analysis revealed a sharp increase in publications during 2021, attributed to the rapid digital transformation of higher education amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it also highlighted a significant gap in integrating Islamic education with digital technology, despite its potential to improve learning outcomes and quality. The majority of publications originated from Indonesia, China, and Russia, with both quantitative and qualitative approaches dominating the methodologies. These findings offer valuable insights into the evolving landscape of digital literacy in higher education and emphasize the critical need for further research to advance its holistic development.

Abstract

This research addresses the limitations of textbook-centered learning resources, which hinder students' understanding of complex concepts and equations, particularly in the topics of sound and light waves. The study aims to develop, validate, and assess the practicality of an electronic pocketbook based on Google Sites for high school-level materials on sound and light waves. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) method, this study follows the Alessi and Trollip development model, consisting of Planning, Design, and Development phases. Expert validators in the fields of content, media, and language, along with feedback from 24 students and three teachers from Senior High School 9 Banda Aceh, were utilized to assess the pocketbook. Results show that the electronic pocketbook successfully completed all development stages and achieved high validity, with material validation at 95.29%, media validation at 91.90%, and language validation at 93.06%, all categorized as "very feasible". Additionally, both student and teacher evaluations confirmed the practicality of the pocketbook, with a score of 94.17%, also categorized as "very practical". The electronic pocketbook is thus deemed a highly valid and practical supplementary learning tool for both classroom and extracurricular use

Abstract

Sausage is a form of processed meat with the addition of seasonings, binders and other ingredients that are inserted into the sleeve. One of the binders that can be used in making sausages is gelatin, because it has high nutrition, gelling and stabilising emulsions. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical quality of chicken sausages made with the addition of gelatin from beef bones. In addition, it can be information for the meat processing industry as a chelifier for processed meat. This research method used thigh bone (os femuris) for gelatin production. The experimental design used was a completely randomised design with a unidirectional pattern consisting of 5 treatments without the addition of 0% gelatine, 3% gelatine, 6% gelatine, 9% gelatine and 12% gelatine and 4 replicates with a total of 20 samples. The variables observed were chemical quality such as protein content, carbohydrate content, moisture content, ash content and fat content. The results showed that the protein content of sausages ranged from 14.13%-20.75%; carbohydrate content of sausages ranged from 4.75%-9.07%, fat content ranged from 0.50%-1.10%. Ash content ranged from 1.33% - 1.72%. And moisture content ranged from 68.23% - 76.02%. The best results were found in treatment P4 (12% cow bone gelatin). The use of gelatin up to 12% can be used as a binder in making chicken sausage.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the multisector and multidimensional approach model is in efforts to prevent stunting in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The method used qualitative descriptive approach. The selection of informants using a purposive sample of 5 people : 1 person from the Population Control, Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP2KBP3A), 1 person Health Service, 1 person Health Center, 1 person the Stunting Acceleration Team (TPPS) and 1 person from the head of Posyandu. Data collection used in-depth interviews, participatory observation and documentation studies. Data analysis used qualitative analysis. The results showed that the multisector approach model was integrated from the central level, provincial level, district/city, external to village. Collaborating with the Education, Health, social, economic, agricultural, plantation sectors, etc. involving the central and regional governments, Community Institutions, community leaders and the general public. Multidimensional targets are mothers, toddlers, teenagers, prospective brides, pregnant women, children, and the elderly. The results show that stunting rates are decrease. Supporting factors are government support and an integrated stunting prevention education model with various sectors. Obstacles factors are the quality of human resources, the social culture of the local community and the stigma of stunting as negative
