Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of interactive science instructional materials assisted by Articulate Storyline in improving fourth-grade elementary students’ conceptual understanding. The study employed a Research and Development approach with a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental class and a control class. The subjects of the study were fourth-grade elementary school students divided into an experimental class that used interactive instructional materials and a control class that used conventional learning materials. Data were collected through conceptual understanding tests administered as pretests and posttests. Data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results indicate a significant difference in students’ conceptual understanding between the experimental and control classes. The experimental class showed a higher posttest mean score and a moderate N-Gain value compared to the control class. These findings demonstrate that interactive science instructional materials assisted by Articulate Storyline are effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding. Therefore, such instructional materials can be used as an alternative learning resource to improve science learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

Science education on the subject of the human respiratory system in fifth grade elementary school still faces a number of obstacles, including teacher-centered learning, limited interactive teaching materials, and low student participation, resulting in students' critical thinking skills not developing optimally. The research aimed to determine the feasibility of the product in terms of simplicity, ease of use, effectiveness, and efficiency, and to examine its contribution to students’ critical thinking skills. A research and development approach with the ADDIE model was employed. The product was validated by material experts (n=4) and media experts (n=5). Practicality was assessed through a teacher questionnaire (n=1) and student responses (n=23). Effectiveness was tested using a quasi-experimental design with experimental and control groups (each n=23) through pretest-posttest measures and statistical analyses (normality, homogeneity, independent samples t-test, and N-gain). The material expert validation reached 91.48% and media expert validation reached 93.97% (both very feasible). Teacher feasibility was 98.95% and student feasibility was 91.44% (very feasible). Critical thinking scores improved from a mean pretest of 57.7 to a mean posttest of 84.9. These findings confirm that the interactive material is highly feasible and effective for improving critical thinking in elementary science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing Project Based Learning (PjBL) combined with the Gallery Walk technique in improving critical thinking skills and Social Studies (IPS) learning outcomes among students of class IXE at SMP Negeri 1 Madiun (n = 32). Using a Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis & McTaggart model with two cycles, the study collected data through observations using a critical thinking rubric, HOTS‑based learning outcome tests, in‑depth interviews, and documentation of student products such as posters and infographics. Quantitative results show an increase in the class mean score from 72.38 in Cycle I to 79.75 in Cycle II, while the classical mastery rate rose from 31.25% to 87.50%; statistical analysis indicated a significant difference (p < 0.001) with a large effect size. Qualitative findings corroborate the quantitative results, indicating that the Gallery Walk strengthened peer‑feedback mechanisms, encouraged product revision, and increased student participation and cognitive engagement. In conclusion, the combination of PjBL and Gallery Walk is effective in enhancing critical thinking and IPS learning outcomes, although strengthening self‑regulation and providing targeted remediation are needed to ensure that improvements are experienced more evenly across all students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the numeracy skills of early childhood children through the implementation of the "Lebah" digital flipbook media based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Group A of Al Kautsar Bakti 2 Kindergarten, Madiun. The background of this study is based on initial findings that children's numeracy skills are still low, characterized by difficulties recognizing numbers, counting, matching quantities, and solving simple numerical problems. This condition is caused by numeracy learning that is still conventional, teacher-centered, and lacks contextual and engaging learning for children. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented in two cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The study subjects were nine children aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through observation of learning activities, assessment of numeracy performance, anecdotal notes, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis to assess improvements in learning outcomes, and qualitative analysis to describe the process and children's engagement during learning. The results of the study showed a significant increase in children's numeracy skills, from the category of Starting to Develop in the pre-cycle to Developing Very Well in Cycle II, with 85% of children achieving the criteria of Developing According to Expectations and Developing Very Well. In addition, the use of PBL-based flipbooks was able to increase children's engagement, motivation, and the quality of the learning process in a more concrete, contextual, and meaningful way. Thus, the PBL-based "Bee" flipbook media is effective as an innovative alternative in early childhood numeracy learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the implementation of gotong royong attitudes (cooperation, mutual help, responsibility, and solidarity) and to identify their supporting and inhibiting factors in the Scout extracurricular for Siaga Garuda members. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach at SDN Cimandala 3, Bogor Regency, with the subjects being 18 fourth-grade Siaga Garuda students and two Scout leaders. Data were collected through the triangulation of observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using an interactive model. The results show that the gotong royong attitudes were effectively instilled through participatory methods such as games, the group system (barung), and direct assignments that build responsibility. The main supporting factors for this success were interactive coaching methods, positive internal responses from students in the form of pride, and a consistent activity environment. However, inhibiting factors were also identified, including individual challenges such as forgetfulness and challenges from social dynamics, such as difficulty cooperating due to personal incompatibility. It is concluded that the success of instilling these attitudes is the result of a synergy between the methods, students' internal motivation, and environmental consistency.

Abstract

Household organic waste remains a significant environmental issue, particularly in rural areas where most residents rely on agriculture for their livelihoods. This community service program aimed to enhance community knowledge and skills in managing organic household waste through the production of eco-enzyme as liquid organic fertilizer. The program was conducted in Kenagarian Halaban, Jorong Atas Laban, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, involving 10 participants. The methods included community outreach, training sessions, hands-on practice, as well as continuous assistance and monitoring. Eco-enzyme was produced from household organic waste using a 3:1:10 ratio and fermented for 90 days, with 30 days of on-site assistance followed by online monitoring. The results showed that the eco-enzyme produced was dark brown in color with a distinctive acidic but non-putrid odor, indicating a successful fermentation process. The application of eco-enzyme as liquid fertilizer contributed to reducing organic waste volume, increasing environmental awareness, and improving plant growth. Limited community participation was identified as the main challenge, highlighting the need for broader engagement strategies to ensure program sustainability.
