Abstract

Character education is an essential part of the educational process in elementary schools because it plays a significant role in shaping students’ attitudes, values, and behaviors in their daily lives. This research seeks to examine the role of teachers in implementing character education among students at SD Negeri Sepande.The research uses a quantitative approach with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population of the study consists of all fourth-grade students in an elementary school, and the sampling technique applied is random sampling. The research instrument used is a science (IPA) learning achievement test. Data analysis is conducted through normality testing, homogeneity testing, and an independent t-test to determine the differences in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the cooperative learning model type Make a Match assisted by picture card media has a positive and significant effect on elementary school students’ science learning outcomes. This is evident from the increase in the average learning outcome scores of the experimental class compared to the control class. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Make a Match model is effective in science learning to enhance students’ activeness and learning outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of morning hygiene culture in instilling character education of discipline and responsibility in students and educational staff at SMP Negeri 3 Panyabungan. Morning hygiene culture is a routine activity carried out before the learning process begins through class assignments, cleaning the school environment, and supervision by teachers. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the implementation of morning hygiene culture contributes to forming discipline through compliance with school schedules and regulations and forming a character of responsibility through carrying out tasks regularly and consistently. Supporting factors include the commitment of the principal and teachers, while the obstacle faced is the lack of awareness of some students in carrying out cleaning tasks. Morning hygiene culture is effective in supporting the strengthening of character education in schools.

Abstract

Teacher welfare is one of the factors that influences the quality of professional performance, including in providing learning guidance to students. A salary system based on the number of teaching hours has the potential to create differences in the level of welfare among teachers, which may ultimately affect the quality of educational services. At MTsN 2 Rejang Lebong, teachers receive a salary of Rp30,000 per hour according to the number of teaching hours listed in the teaching schedule, resulting in different levels of income depending on the number of hours assigned. These differences are assumed to influence work motivation, teaching readiness, and the quality of learning guidance provided to students. This study aims to determine the condition of teachers’ salary welfare based on the number of teaching hours and its impact on the quality of students’ learning guidance. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects were teachers who receive salaries based on teaching hours. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, particularly teaching assignment data showing variations in teaching hours ranging from 6 to more than 30 hours per week. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing using source and method triangulation to ensure data validity. The results showed that differences in teaching hours lead to differences in teachers’ welfare levels. Teachers with fewer hours felt that their salary was insufficient and needed additional jobs, while teachers with many hours experienced a high workload. This condition affected the quality of learning guidance, as teachers with better welfare and balanced workloads tended to provide more optimal assistance to students.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low reading comprehension ability of students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model assisted by digital storybooks in improving the reading comprehension ability of elementary school students. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group De-sign. Data were collected through test instruments and analyzed using the Inde-pendent Sample T-Test and the score improvement test (N-Gain score). The re-sults of the study showed a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Students who learned using the CIRC model assisted by digi-tal storybooks showed a higher increase in reading ability compared to students who used the Think Pair Share (TPS) model. Thus, the CIRC model assisted by digital storybooks is effective in improving the reading comprehension ability of el-ementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Wordwall as a game-based learning medium in improving elementary school students’ English vocabulary mastery. The main problem addressed in this research is the low student engagement and vocabulary proficiency in traditional learning settings. The research was conducted at SDN Pasirhalang 1, Sukabumi Regency, using a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach through a one-group pretest-posttest model. The instrument used was a multiple-choice vocabulary test consisting of 20 items covering Parts of Speech (Adjective, Noun, Verb, Adverb, Preposition, Possessive Pronoun, and Possessive Adjective), designed across Bloom’s cognitive domains from C1 to C6. The findings indicated an increase in the mean score from 62.4 (pretest) to 77.2 (posttest). The N-Gain analysis revealed an average gain of 0.4019, classified as moderate effectiveness. Furthermore, the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes before and after the implementation of Wordwall. These results suggest that Wordwall is an effective and engaging digital tool for enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery, making it a viable alternative for vocabulary instruction at the elementary level.

Abstract

Interest in writing poetry among junior high school students remains a significant issue in Indonesian language learning, including at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. Low interest in writing poetry is seen as a significant issue because it is a creative literacy skill that plays a role in Indonesian language learning. This study aims analyze the factors causing low interest in writing poetry among eighth-grade students at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method with a single case study approach. The research subjects consisted of eighth-grade students and Indonesian language teachers at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. Data were obtained through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that students' interest in writing poetry was low, as evidenced by their passive attitudes during the learning process, lack of interest in poetry writing assignments, and minimal effort by students to understand the elements of poetry. Internal factors influencing low interest include lack of self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and a weak understanding of the elements of poetry. External factors include teachers' predominantly lecture-based learning methods, underutilization of learning media, and peer influence that distracts students from focusing. This study concludes that low interest in writing poetry is the result of an interaction between internal factors and the learning environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the positive and significant influence of the Project Based Learning model on the learning motivation of Christian Religious Education (PAK) students in Grade X at SMA Negeri 1 Tarabintang, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. This study used a quantitative research method. The population consisted of all Grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Tarabintang, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, totaling 54 students, all of whom were used as research respondents. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire consisting of 32 items. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a positive and significant influence of the Project Based Learning model on the learning motivation of Christian Religious Education (PAK) students in Grade X at SMA Negeri 1 Tarabintang, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. This was proven through the following data analysis: the prerequisite test showed a positive relationship with a value of rxy = 0.549 > rtable (α = 0.05, n = 54) = 0.2221, and the significance test showed tcount = 4.733 > ttable (α = 0.05, df = 52) = 2.021. The influence test through the regression equation produced Ŷ = 25.35 + 0.52X with a coefficient of determination (r²) of 30.1%. Hypothesis testing using the F test obtained Fcount > Ftable (α = 0.05, numerator df = 17, denominator df = 52), namely 22.29 > 1.39. Therefore, Ha, which states that there is a positive and significant influence of the Project Based Learning model on the learning motivation of Christian Religious Education (PAK) students in Grade X at SMA Negeri 1 Tarabintang, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, is accepted, while H0 is rejected.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the forms and methods of counseling used by counselors, the role of Christian religious counselors as mentors among adolescents, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of counseling at the UPT Social Service for Children and the Elderly in Siborongborong. The approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that Christian religious counselors use several methods, such as spiritual activities, experience-sharing sessions, and weekly mentoring. This approach aims to reduce laziness, increase responsibility, and develop disciplined life habits. Activities carried out regularly help adolescents build an understanding that discipline is part of character formation. In addition to the methods used, Christian religious counselors have carried out their role as mentors in shaping adolescent discipline. This role is referred to as an informative role, where the counselor acts as a guide. The way counselors guide adolescents is through reminders about the importance of discipline, in the form of advice, sharing sessions, joint prayers, and reflections. From this, it can be seen that there are positive changes in adolescents’ attitudes, such as increased self-confidence, discipline, and social responsibility. However, the counseling process also has supporting and inhibiting factors. The inhibiting factors in implementing discipline include laziness, peer influence, and difficulties in maintaining consistency, especially when experiencing boredom or fatigue. Nevertheless, support from counselors, peers, and mentors, as well as appreciation for adolescents’ efforts, becomes a motivating factor that encourages them to remain enthusiastic in living a disciplined life.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Canva-based video learning media for procedural texts for elementary school students. The research method used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of validators, material experts, and media experts, who assessed the feasibility of the developed learning media. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews and validation sheets provided to the material and media experts to determine the level of feasibility of the learning media. The validation results showed that the developed learning media received 87.5% approval from the material experts and 88.39% approval from the media experts, categorized as very valid. These results indicate that the Canva-based video learning media is suitable for use as a learning medium in the learning process. This media is designed with an attractive appearance, systematic presentation of material, and easy-to-understand language, thus helping students understand procedural texts. Therefore, Canva-based video learning media can be used as an alternative learning medium to support the learning process in elementary schools.

Abstract

Writing is one of the important language skills that must be mastered by elementary school students, especially in writing effective sentences. However, in practice many students still experience difficulties in constructing sentences that follow the rules of the Indonesian language. This study aims to analyze the difficulties in writing effective sentences among third grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Jongaya. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the third grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Jongaya, with the class teacher as an additional informant. Data were collected through observation, writing tests, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively to describe the forms of difficulties experienced by students in writing effective sentences. The results of the study indicate that third grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Jongaya experience several difficulties in writing effective sentences, including difficulties in the use of spelling and punctuation, selecting appropriate words, arranging sentence structure, and developing ideas into complete and clear sentences. The factors causing these difficulties include limited vocabulary, lack of understanding of language rules, and limited continuous writing practice. Therefore, more varied and continuous learning efforts are needed to improve students’ writing skills in constructing effective sentences.
