Abstract

Fine motor development refers to children's ability to coordinate hand, finger, and visual movements in activities requiring precision. This study aimed to describe the implementation of paper-squeezing activities to form balls and to examine their implications for children's fine motor development at PKK Kindergarten in Dalaka Village, Sindue District, Donggala Regency. The study employed a qualitative descriptive field-research approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with the principal, teachers, and parents, and documentation. Data analysis involved reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was strengthened by comparing information across sources. The findings indicate that the activity was conducted through material introduction, teacher demonstration, individual and group practice, ball formation, and appreciation of children's work. The activity helped children understand the use of recycled paper as play material, strengthen their palms and fingers, improve eye-hand coordination, dexterity, concentration, and task completion. Additional benefits included creativity, emotional regulation, cooperation, enjoyment, and self-confidence. Paper squeezing can therefore serve as a simple, inexpensive, safe, and meaningful fine-motor stimulation activity when teachers consider children's readiness, material safety, instructional stages, and gradual levels of difficulty. Since the study was qualitative, the reported improvement refers to observable changes in behavior and skills rather than experimentally measured effects.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the difficulties experienced by students in solving division operations in mathematics learning. The study aimed to describe the types of students' learning difficulties, analyze the factors causing these difficulties, and describe the teacher's efforts to overcome them. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research method with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of seven students from Class III-B at Elentary school Mlajah 2 Bangkalan. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students experienced three types of difficulties in solving division operations, namely conceptual, procedural, and factual difficulties. Procedural difficulty was the most dominant type, indicated by the students' inability to write the solution steps completely and systematically. The factors contributing to these difficulties included insufficient mastery of basic multiplication and subtraction, limited understanding of division procedures, lack of concentration during learning, carelessness in calculations, and the students' unfamiliarity with writing systematic solution procedures. The teacher addressed these difficulties by providing direct guidance, re-explaining division procedures, giving gradual practice exercises, and using concrete objects and instructional media to help students understand the concept of division.

Abstract

Low learning motivation in Pancasila Education was a fundamental problem identified in class VII-7 of SMPN 23 Malang. A baseline survey of 31 students showed an average motivation score of only 48.7%, well below the 75% success indicator, marked by weak student engagement, minimal response to teachers’ questions, and low enthusiasm during lessons. This study aimed to analyze and improve students’ learning motivation through a Game-Based Learning (GBL) approach assisted by a Matching Card medium on the topic of Indonesia’s Diversity within Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model was applied over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection, across four meetings with a pretest and posttest. The subjects were 31 seventh-grade students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Results showed a significant increase in learning motivation: from an average of 48.7% at baseline to 64.3% in Cycle I, and 82.6% in Cycle II. All six motivation indicators exceeded the established target. These findings confirm that GBL assisted by a Matching Card medium significantly improves students’ learning motivation in Pancasila Education.

Abstract

Abstract A lightning protection system is an essential component in ensuring building safety, protecting occupants, and safeguarding electrical installations and electronic equipment. The New Building of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Alwashliyah Medan is an educational facility with intensive daily activities and numerous electronic devices that are vulnerable to lightning strikes. This study aims to design an external lightning protection system and a grounding system in accordance with the General Regulations for Lightning Protection Installation (PUIPP), IEC 62305, and SNI 03-7015-2004 standards. The research employed a quantitative engineering design approach through field surveys, building dimension measurements, lightning risk assessment, protection system calculations, air terminal protection angle analysis, and grounding system design using the multi-rod method. The results indicate that, based on the PUIPP assessment, the building has a high lightning hazard level with a risk value of R = 14, indicating that a lightning protection system is highly required. According to the IEC analysis, the lightning ground flash density (Ng) is 34.6 strikes/km²/year, while the annual direct lightning strike frequency (Nd) is 0.259 strikes/year, resulting in a protection efficiency of 61%, which classifies the building as Protection Level IV. The proposed protection system consists of four copper air terminals, 16 mm² copper down conductors, and a grounding system employing four parallel rod electrodes. The grounding resistance was reduced from 37 Ω to 9.25 Ω using the multi-rod configuration.
