Abstract

  This study examines the representation of family values in Disney's Encanto (2021) by applying Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The study aims to identify how family values are represented through denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings, particularly the process of naturalization reflected in the film. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data consisted of visual and verbal signs related to family values in the film and were collected through observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using Barthes' semiotic framework, including denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings reveal that the film represents family values through signs of love, responsibility, sacrifice, empathy, forgiveness, acceptance, solidarity, and family unity. At the connotative level, these values are conveyed through characters' facial expressions, gestures, dialogue, settings, and symbolic objects that reflect emotional experiences within the Madrigal family. At the mythological level, the film naturalizes cultural beliefs that family members are expected to support one another, maintain family harmony, and prioritize collective well-being. At the same time, the film challenges the naturalized belief that personal worth depends on perfection or extraordinary abilities by emphasizing that unconditional love, mutual understanding, and acceptance are the true foundations of a strong family. Therefore, Encanto demonstrates that genuine family strength is constructed through emotional connection rather than supernatural power.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the English Speaking Club (ESC) at Hamzanwadi University in enhancing students' grammar mastery through a non-formal, collaborative environment. While conventional EFL classrooms often focus on explicit form-based instruction that triggers cognitive overload, informal spaces offer a low-anxiety alternative. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through participant observations and in-depth interviews with active ESC members, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal two primary mechanisms: first, the informal environment significantly reduces speaking anxiety, aligning with Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis; second, peer interactions facilitate spontaneous error correction, acting as peer scaffolding that accelerates the transition from declarative grammatical knowledge to procedural fluency, as posited by Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory. This study contributes theoretically by bridging cognitive Second Language Acquisition (SLA) with sociocultural frameworks and practically by urging higher education institutions to integrate extracurricular language clubs into comprehensive language learning ecosystems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an "effect of rhythmic fast walking exercise on endurance and step accuracy among drumband extracurricular participants at SMK Assubandiyah." The research method used by the author was an experiment with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research population consisted of members of the Drumband extracurricular activity at SMK Assubandiyah. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument employed was the multi-stage fitness test (beep test) to measure endurance and step accuracy. Data processing was conducted using mean, standard deviation, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of "rhythmic fast walking exercise on endurance and step accuracy among drumband extracurricular participants at SMK Assubandiyah." The data processing results are as follows: Based on the analysis of Table 4.2, the normality test yielded a pretest significance value of 0.959 and a posttest significance value of 0.999. Since both values are greater than 0.05, the data are declared normally distributed. The homogeneity test in Table 4.3 showed a significance value (sig) of 0.237, which is greater than 0.05, indicating that the data are homogeneous. Based on the t-test analysis in Table 4.4, the obtained significance value (sig) was 0.000, which is less than 0.05; therefore, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, with a pretest mean score of 58.67 and a posttest mean score of 86.17. The data for this study were obtained and analyzed using SPSS 26.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect and magnitude of the impact of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)-based instruction on students' critical thinking skills regarding the topic of Environmental Change (Climate Change) for Grade X (Phase E) students at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi. The study employed a quantitative method using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of one experimental class receiving TPACK-based instruction and one control class receiving conventional instruction. The research instrument was a critical thinking skills test that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis included tests for normality and homogeneity, an Independent Sample t-Test, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that TPACK-based instruction had a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Regression analysis revealed a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.783 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.613, meaning that TPACK-based instruction contributed 61.3% to critical thinking skills, while 38.7% was influenced by other factors. Thus, TPACK-based instruction is effective for enhancing students' critical thinking skills in high school Biology learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of technology and innovation in educational quality control and to examine the roles of the principal and teachers at SDN Bogak during the 2026/2027 academic year. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The participants included the principal, teachers, administrative staff, students, and parents or guardians. Data were analyzed using the processes of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Administratively, the school is supported by 11 personnel, consisting of 9 teachers (2 civil servant teachers, 5 full-time government contract teachers, and 2 part-time government contract teachers), 1 school caretaker, and 1 cleaning staff member. The analytical framework positions technology as a strategic tool to support teaching and learning, assessment, data management, communication, supervision, and data-driven planning. The principal plays a key role in setting the school's strategic direction, ensuring the availability of technological infrastructure, developing staff competencies, and monitoring program implementation. Meanwhile, teachers are responsible for designing technology-enhanced learning, utilizing assessment data to improve instruction, and evaluating the impact of educational innovations on student learning outcomes. The findings suggest that technology-based quality control should be implemented gradually, focusing on students' needs while ensuring security, equity, and continuous evaluation to achieve sustainable educational improvement.

Abstract

Kelembagaan pendidikan Islam merupakan bagian integral dari sejarah perkembangan pendidikan yang memiliki peran strategis dalam membangun peradaban manusia. Lembaga pendidikan Islam tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat berlangsungnya proses transfer ilmu pengetahuan, tetapi juga sebagai institusi pembentukan karakter, penguatan nilai-nilai keagamaan, serta pemberdayaan sosial masyarakat. Dalam perkembangannya, kelembagaan pendidikan Islam mengalami transformasi dari bentuk tradisional seperti pesantren dan surau menuju lembaga pendidikan modern berupa madrasah, sekolah Islam terpadu, dan perguruan tinggi Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep kelembagaan pendidikan Islam, perkembangan historisnya, fungsi strategis, berbagai tantangan yang dihadapi, serta strategi penguatan kelembagaan dalam menghadapi era globalisasi dan digitalisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis terhadap berbagai sumber literatur mengenai pendidikan Islam dan manajemen kelembagaan pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan lembaga pendidikan Islam sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan adaptasi terhadap perubahan, profesionalisme pengelolaan, peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia, inovasi pembelajaran, serta penerapan tata kelola pendidikan yang efektif. Penguatan kelembagaan pendidikan Islam diperlukan agar mampu menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi akademik, keterampilan profesional, dan karakter Islami yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat modern.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the paradox of contemporary Islamic education, which is still predominantly oriented toward cognitive achievement while the internalization of moral values and character development remains insufficient. This condition highlights the need to re-explore Islamic educational values derived from the Qur'an as a foundation for character building. The study aims to describe Syaikh Wahbah Az-Zuhaili's interpretation of Surah Al-Baqarah verses 30–34 and to analyze the Islamic educational values contained in these verses based on Tafsir Al-Munir. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research. The primary data sources were the Qur'an and Tafsir Al-Munir by Syaikh Wahbah Az-Zuhaili, while the secondary data were obtained from relevant books, scientific journals, and previous studies. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Wahbah Az-Zuhaili interpreted Surah Al-Baqarah verses 30–34 through a tahlili approach integrating the dimensions of riwayah, dirayah, fiqh, and tarbawi. The study identifies four fundamental Islamic educational values, namely faith (aqidah), intellectual development, moral character (akhlaq), and leadership. These values are integrated in shaping human beings as khalifah who possess faith, knowledge, noble character, and responsibility in fulfilling Allah's trust. Therefore, these findings are relevant as a foundation for developing Islamic education that balances cognitive, spiritual, and character dimensions. Abstract

Pendidikan Islam merupakan sistem pendidikan yang berlandaskan nilai-nilai wahyu dan akal dalam membentuk manusia yang beriman, berilmu, dan berakhlak mulia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hakikat dan landasan pendidikan Islam serta implikasinya dalam menghadapi era transformasi digital. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Data diperoleh dari sumber primer dan sekunder berupa Al-Qur’an, Hadis, serta literatur ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hakikat pendidikan Islam mencakup pengembangan potensi manusia secara holistik (jasmani, akal, dan ruhani), sedangkan landasannya meliputi landasan teologis, filosofis, psikologis, dan sosiologis. Dalam era digital, pendidikan Islam menghadapi tantangan adaptasi teknologi, namun tetap harus mempertahankan nilai-nilai dasar keislaman. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya integrasi antara nilai-nilai Islam dan inovasi teknologi dalam sistem pendidikan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT School accreditation is an external quality assurance mechanism expected to shape school policies, programs, and resource allocation. This study examines the implications of a B accreditation status for education policy at SMP Negeri 2 Pujut through a descriptive-evaluative case study. Data were obtained from the school profile, teacher records, the 2025 Education Report, data-based planning recommendations, and the Annual Work Plan and ARKAS worksheets. The analysis involved data reduction, indicator classification, comparison of 2024 and 2025 achievements, and document triangulation. The results show that accreditation is associated with stronger attention to learning outcomes and service standards. Literacy increased by 33.34 points to 66.67 percent, while numeracy increased by 28.88 points to 64.44 percent. However, implementation remained inconsistent. The school program and policy indicator declined by 4.10 points to 61.90. Anti-bullying policy decreased by 12.47 points, sexual violence prevention policy by 9.01 points, and spending on teacher quality improvement reached only 2.76 percent. The facility index was 70.90, but room feasibility was only 22.22. The Annual Work Plan and ARKAS did not yet contain operational programs. Accreditation has therefore triggered a quality agenda, but it has not fully functioned as a continuous policy control system. The school should integrate accreditation findings and Education Report data into annual planning, budgeting, performance indicators, and quarterly evaluation.

Abstract

The declining interest of younger generations in Malay literary works has reduced the understanding of the moral values embedded in traditional literature, particularly Syair Nasib Melayu by Tenas Effendy. This study aims to describe the moral values contained in the poem using Subur's theory of moral values. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. The data source was Syair Nasib Melayu by Tenas Effendy, while the data consisted of poetic stanzas containing moral values. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed 102 data representing 20 categories of moral values, including gratitude, honesty, justice, forgiveness, respect for parents, sincerity, humility, modesty, steadfastness, diligence, self-control, repentance, freedom from greed, generosity, unity, harmony, obedience, patience, responsibility, and time discipline. Among these, diligence was the most dominant moral value with 25 data, followed by generosity and harmony with 10 data each. These findings indicate that Syair Nasib Melayu not only possesses literary and aesthetic value but also serves as a medium for character education based on Malay local wisdom that remains relevant to contemporary society.
