Abstract

The low attitude of environmental care in elementary school students is a problem that needs attention, considering that this attitude also determines the sustainability of environmental conservation in the future. This condition requires character education that is inseparable from the role of teachers in it. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers and describe the results, supporting factors, and inhibiting factors in internalizing the character of caring for the environment through the integration of science learning. This type of research is in the form of descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers carry out their roles as educators, managers, administrators, supervisors, leaders, innovators, motivators, dynamizers, evaluators, and facilitators in an integrated manner. The process of internalizing values is carried out through three stages, namely the provision of materials, learning practices and projects, and habituation. The internalized values of caring for the environment include managing waste wisely, reducing the use of plastic waste, maintaining cleanliness, greening and plant care. The internalization results show that students are able to understand and apply values in daily life at school. The internalization process is supported by the example of teachers, the use of varied and contextual learning methods and media, appreciation, the environment and school programs. The obstacles found include low awareness and confidence in some students, differences in student character, and the unavailability of plastic waste processing facilities.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery (al-mufradāt) is one of the fundamental components in Arabic language learning because it significantly influences learners' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. However, many students encounter difficulties in memorizing and retaining Arabic vocabulary, which consequently affects the effectiveness of the learning process. This study aims to analyze the vocabulary memorization strategies implemented at Umar Bin Khattab Islamic Boarding School (UBK), Pekanbaru, and to examine their contribution to improving the effectiveness of Arabic language learning. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with Arabic language teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the boarding school implements several integrated vocabulary memorization strategies, including tikrār (repetition), talqīn (teacher-guided pronunciation), contextual vocabulary practice through Lisān al-'Arab, root-word (isytiqāq) analysis, vocabulary display media, and the establishment of an Arabic-speaking environment (bi'ah lughawiyyah). These strategies encourage students to memorize, comprehend, and actively use Arabic vocabulary in daily communication. The study concludes that the integration of systematic memorization strategies with a supportive language environment positively contributes to vocabulary acquisition and enhances the overall effectiveness of Arabic language learning at the Islamic boarding school.

Abstract

This study aims to examine a local wisdom-based learning strategy for shaping the religious character of Grade XI students at SMAN 9 Tana Toraja and to assess the students' religious character following the implementation of this strategy. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consist of the Islamic Religious Education teacher and Grade XI students at SMAN 9 Tana Toraja. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with verification. Data validity is ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the local wisdom-based learning strategy is implemented by integrating Tana Toraja cultural values into the Islamic Religious Education learning process. The teacher connects the learning material to the students' daily lives and uses values such as togetherness, mutual cooperation (*gotong royong*), politeness, mutual respect, caring, and responsibility as examples during instruction. This strategy renders learning more contextual and helps students understand the connection between religious values and their socio-cultural lives. The students' religious character is reflected in habits such as praying before and after lessons, participating in religious activities, and demonstrating honesty, discipline, responsibility, politeness, helpfulness, respect for teachers and peers, and appreciation for diversity. This character formation is supported by habituation, the teacher acting as a role model, the school environment, and the role of the family. Thus, the local wisdom-based learning strategy plays a role in fostering the religious character of students by integrating local cultural values with the values of Islamic Religious Education.
