Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the abilities and challenges related to students’ science literacy in IPAS (Integrated Natural and Social Sciences) learning. This is a qualitative research study using a descriptive method. The research sample consisted of 5 students selected from 25 fourth-grade students in class IV B. The data collection methods used in this study were interviews and observations. This study aims to describe: 1). The science literacy abilities of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu in IPAS learning. 2). The challenges students face in relation to science literacy in the context of IPAS learning. The results of the study show that: 1). The science literacy abilities and knowledge of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu are generally in the moderate category, both in terms of content and process aspects. Students show basic abilities in recognizing, connecting, and applying scientific concepts, which still need to be improved through contextual and reflective learning approaches. 2). The challenges faced by the students in IPAS learning include a lack of interest in the subject matter and low learning readiness, which negatively impact their understanding of concepts and scientific thinking skills.

Abstract

Educational quality is a key issue that determines a school’s ability to develop students’ competencies. One strategy introduced in Indonesia to improve quality is School-Based Management (SBM), which emphasizes decentralization of authority, community participation, accountability, and visionary leadership. This study aims to analyze the implementation of SBM at UPT SDN 03 Koto Baru and its relationship with educational quality, including academic achievement, student attendance, and stakeholder satisfaction. A mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design was employed: quantitative analysis through questionnaires (teachers N=18, parents N=100), student report cards (N=136), and attendance data, followed by interviews, observations, and document reviews. Results show that the average SBM implementation score was 3.43 (moderate category), with school leadership (3.72) and learning management (3.68) as the strongest aspects, while community participation (3.10) and financial management (3.20) remained weaker. Educational quality indicators revealed an average academic score of 72.4, student attendance of 88.6%, parental satisfaction of 3.40, and teacher satisfaction of 3.65. Correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between SBM implementation and educational quality (r=0.48 for academic scores; r=0.35 for attendance). Multiple regression yielded R²=0.42, with leadership (β=0.29; p=0.01) and learning management (β=0.36; p=0.002) significantly influencing learning outcomes. In conclusion, SBM implementation at SDN 03 Koto Baru is at a moderate level, with strengths in leadership and instructional management, while limited community participation and inadequate facilities remain key challenges.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the fields of science taught in Elementary School. Teachers who want to teach mathematics to students need to understand and know the material to be delivered. Understanding the meaning of mathematics itself is a fundamental key to achieving success in learning mathematics. Learning is a process carried out by individuals to obtain new behavioral changes as a whole as a result of experience in interacting with the environment. The need for a mathematics teaching module based on productive struggle through a problem-based learning approach. This learning is further developed, including Problem-Based Learning which has recently become famous in the world of education. Problem Based Learning can provide skills in managing life for students to be able to overcome obstacles in their environment. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the need for a mathematics teaching module based on productive struggle through a problem-based learning approach on flat shape material carried out on grade IV teachers in Kawalu District. The results of this study indicate that teachers are active in implementing Problem Based Learning, but there are still obstacles in learning mathematics. In learning flat shapes, the teacher stated that one of the main objectives in learning mathematics based on the Independent Curriculum is to help students understand and develop mathematical material that includes facts, concepts, principles, operations, and mathematical relations. The process elements in learning mathematics also emphasize the importance of implementing and adapting effective strategies in solving everyday problems, which also serve as a means to reconstruct mathematical understanding. As part of the direction of the Independent Curriculum policy, the preparation of the Learning Implementation Plan has undergone significant changes compared to the previous curriculum in increasing learning motivation about the area of ​​flat shapes. Efforts to increase learning motivation through Problem Based Learning the area of ​​flat shapes are carried out according to the steps based on the implementation cycle with the following steps: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Learning using the Problem Based Learning modul can increase learning motivation about the circumference and area of ​​flat shapes in grade IV students.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students caused by conventional learning methods and the lack of interactive media utilization among Phase C students at SDN 1 Kelayu Utara. This study aims to determine the effect of using Kahoot-based hypermedia learning media on the mathematics learning outcomes of Phase C students at SDN 1 Kelayu Utara. The research employed an experimental method with a one-group pretest–post-test design. The sample consisted of all 26 fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Kelayu Utara. Data were collected by administering pretests and post-tests in the form of multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was conducted using a normality test with the Lilliefors method and a hypothesis test using a t-test. The results showed that the pretest scores ranged from 30 to 75 with an average of 57.2, while the post-test scores ranged from 50 to 85 with an average of 69.4. Based on the normality test results, the pretest data showed that lcalculated < ltable (0.177 < 0.220), and the post-test data showed that lcalculated < ltable (0.198 < 0.220), indicating that the data were normally distributed. Furthermore, the hypothesis test results showed that tcalculated > ttable (6.982 > 2.120), meaning that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Kahoot-based hypermedia learning media has a significant effect on improving the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Kelayu Utara.

Abstract

This article analyzes educational management practices in 21st-century Indonesia through the lens of Paulo Freire’s dialogical humanism. The study identifies that the dominance of bureaucratic and technocratic paradigms in school management has generated various disparities, such as teacher alienation, pseudo-participation, the digital divide, and the dehumanization of educational processes. Through multiple case studies in six secondary schools, it was found that spaces for dialogue, critical reflection, and transformative action remain highly limited due to the strong influence of administrative compliance and hierarchical culture. However, there is evidence that integrating Freire’s principles—dialogue, conscientização, praxis, and liberation—can foster a transformation of educational management into a more participatory, inclusive, and emancipatory model. The article recommends the need for administrative reform, strengthening reflective capacities, and utilizing local values as well as digital technologies to realize an educational management approach that is humanistic and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

Cognitive distortion is a negative thought pattern that can disrupt mental health and emotional balance, particularly in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) environments where spiritual and academic demands must be met. This cognitive distortion causes individuals to neglect consideration, focusing solely on negative aspects and failing to think rationally. Consequently, individuals perceive an inaccurate and chaotic reality. Some students, particularly students residing in Islamic boarding schools, experience cognitive distortions due to the need to meet spiritual and academic demands. This study aims to develop Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) integrated with the values ​​of the Riau Malay Gurindam as a cultural approach to addressing cognitive distortions in Islamic boarding school students. The values ​​of Gurindam, particularly those from Raja Ali Haji's Gurindam Dua Belas, were chosen because they contain moral messages, self-awareness, and spiritual reflection relevant to the principles of mindfulness and cognitive therapy. The method used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The study subjects were Islamic boarding school students (pesantren) who exhibited symptoms of cognitive distortions such as negative thinking, overgeneralization, and self-balancing. Preliminary results indicate that integrating Gurindam values ​​can strengthen the contemplative dimension of MBCT, increase self-awareness, and reduce the frequency and intensity of cognitive distortions. This study recommends the importance of a local cultural approach in psychological interventions to increase effectiveness and emotional closeness in Islamic boarding school-based populations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) model on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at MIN 4 Bandar Lampung with a focus on analytical skills (C4). The study used a quasi-experimental design with two classes (VA and VB, each with 20 students) selected through purposive sampling. The instrument was a multiple-choice test with 30 items, and 20 of them were declared valid and reliable (α = 0.847). The data were normally distributed and homogeneous, so they were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental class (mean = 86.75) and the control class (mean = 79.75) with t(38) = −2.121 and p = 0.040. The increase in the achievement of the C4 indicator indicates the effectiveness of TAI in developing students' analytical skills. These findings recommend the implementation of TAI in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah as a collaborative learning strategy that supports the implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at MTs Jauharul Islam, identify the problems encountered in improving teachers pedagogigcal competence, and describe the efforts made to overcome these challenges. The Merdeka Curriculum emerges as a response to the demands of 21st-century education, emphasizing student-centered learning, flexible teaching methods, and character development through the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile). However, the implementation of this curriculum faces numerous obstacles in the field, particularly in terms of teachers pedagogical readiness.This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documents analysis. The informants were selected using the snowball sampling technique, starting with key individuals and expanding based on subsequent recommendations. The main informants included the principal, vice principal for curriculum affairs, subject teacher, and the team responsible for drafting the School Operation Curriculum (KOSP).The findings indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at MTs Jauharul Islam has begun through several initiatives, such as the formation of the KOSP drafting team, internal teacher training sessions, and the development of independent teaching modules. However, several challenges remain, including the lack of intensive and ongoing training, limited project-based learning facilities, the unfinished status of the KOSP document as a main reference, and the high administrative workload faced by teachers. Additionally, a gap persists between the conceptual understanding of the curriculum and its practical application in the classroom, as traditional lecture methods still dominate, and project-based learning is underutilized. To address these issues, the school has undertaken various strategies, such as enhancing teacher training by inviting school supervisors as resource persons, providing collaborative forums for teachers, and conducting regular evaluations and mentoring by the curriculum team. Moreover, the school principal actively encourages innovation and gives teachers the freedom to design contextually relevant learning modules tailored to students characteristics.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on students’ learning interest at MTs Al Mustaqim. The background of this study was the low learning interest among students caused by conventional teaching methods that fail to link learning materials to real-life contexts. This quantitative study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design involving one experimental class selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a learning interest questionnaire and observation sheets. The results indicated that CTL implementation was very effective, achieving 85%–87.5% of expected learning activities. The paired sample t-test showed a significant difference in learning interest before and after the intervention (p < 0.001). Students’ learning interest improved to the “sufficiently interested” category after applying CTL. Thus, the CTL model effectively enhances students’ learning interest in mathematics, making learning more contextual and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to explore ethnomathematics in the Replica of the Indragiri Royal Palace. This study uses an ethnographic method which is a method of qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 5 people. In this study, the main instrument was the researcher himself and the supporting instruments were observation, documentation and interviews. Data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there is a philosophical meaning of the Replica of the Indragiri Royal Palace Building, namely several building elements have their philosophical values, the tiered pyramid roof symbolizes the social hierarchy and the relationship between humans and God, wooden pillars symbolize strength and unity, wooden stairs reflect the levels of life, floral ornaments (bamboo shoots, flowers, leaves) symbolize fertility and growth, the symmetry of doors and windows symbolizes order and justice. There is ethnomathematics in the Indragiri Royal Palace Replica which includes counting or counting activities, calculating activities, measuring, determining locations,and designing. From this ethnomathematics activity, there are mathematical concepts in it which include the concept of counting, plans and cardinal directions, geometric concepts such as geometric shapes and flat shapes. With the ethnomathematics findings in the Indragiri Royal Palace Replica, it is closely related to mathematics learning in elementary schools which can be used as learning material or resources for students in elementary schools.
