Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze student learning motivation in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) at Vocational High Schools (SMK) using the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) approach, comprehensively based on three basic psychological needs components: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The research method used is quantitative correlational, involving 55 respondents from grades X and XI students at SMK Telkom Bandung. Based on the multiple linear regression analysis, the variables of autonomy, competence, and relatedness simultaneously have a significant effect on student learning motivation with a significance value of 0.003. However, partially, only the relatedness variable has a significant effect on learning motivation (Sig. = 0.007), while autonomy (Sig. = 0.331) and competence (Sig. = 0.593) do not show a significant effect. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between the fulfillment of the psychological need for relatedness and PJOK learning motivation, making this factor a potential strategy for teachers to consider in facilitating a more optimal learning experience. Abstract

Leg power is one of the biomotor components that greatly determines the success of long jump athletes, especially in the take-off phase. One of the most widely used training methods to increase leg muscle explosive power is plyometric training, which utilizes the stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) mechanism. However, research on the effectiveness of plyometric training in adolescent long jump athletes in Indonesia remains limited. This study aims to determine the effect of a plyometric training program on increasing leg power in adolescent long jump athletes and to analyze the effect size of the program. The study used a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 10 adolescent long jump athletes selected using a total sampling technique. Leg power was measured using the 30-Second Sit-to-Stand (30s STS) test before and after the plyometric training program. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Paired Samples t-test, and Cohen's d calculation to measure effect size at a significance level of 5%. The results showed: (1) the average pretest score was 49.40, while the average posttest score increased to 54.90, with an average increase of 5.50 points; (2) the normality test showed that the pretest (Sig. = 0.953) and posttest (Sig. = 0.999) data were normally distributed; (3) the Paired Samples t-test showed a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores; (4) the Cohen's d analysis yielded a value of 2.09, indicating that the plyometric training program had a huge positive effect on increasing athletes' leg power. It can therefore be concluded that the plyometric training program is effective and has a significant effect on increasing leg power in adolescent long jump athletes. Abstract

This study aims to determine whether High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has a significant effect on improving cardiovascular endurance (VO2Max) in basketball athletes among Sports Science students. The method used was a quantitative approach with a Pretest-Posttest Only Control Group Design, involving 20 samples selected from a population of 30 using the Simple Random Sampling technique, in which the experimental group was given HIIT treatment in the form of sprint interval training for 5 weeks (3 times per week, 80–90% intensity), while the control group received no treatment, and VO2Max was measured using the Multistage Fitness Test (Bleep Test), which was analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and the independent t-test. The results showed significance values of (1) 0.002 in the pretest and (2) 0.000 in the posttest (both < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. It can therefore be concluded that HIIT training has a significant effect on improving cardiovascular endurance (VO2Max) in basketball athletes among Sports Science students, with the experimental group showing a greater improvement than the control group. Abstract

This study aims to develop a Rumanak training model for freestyle swimming extracurricular activities as a preliminary study. The method used is research and development (R&D) up to the expert validation stage to validate the initial design of the Rumanak training model. Other data were obtained through literature studies. The results show that the Rumanak training model consists of two main components, namely basic technique training and water-based speed training. Expert validation shows that this model is feasible for use with minor improvements, particularly in the variety of water games for speed training, evaluation indicators, and training intensity adjusted to the children's abilities. The conclusion of this study is that the Rumanak training model has the potential to become a reference for more systematic, enjoyable aquatic sports learning that is in line with the developmental characteristics of elementary school children. Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of sack race training as a game-based training strategy in improving explosive power and balance in early age gymnasts (6-9 years) compared to conventional training methods. The method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 30 gymnasts who were divided into two groups: the experimental group (sack race training) and the control group (conventional training). The intervention was carried out twice per week for 12 meetings. The instruments used were the Vertical Jump to measure explosive power and the Stork Stand Test to measure balance. Data analysis used the Mann Whitney test for explosive power and the Independent t-test for balance at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the experimental group experienced an increase in explosive power of 16.20 (p = 0.004) and an increase in balance of 20.58 (p = 0.026), while the control group only increased explosive power by 8.24 and balance by 8.62. The conclusion of this study is that sack racing training significantly improves explosive power and balance in young gymnasts and is more effective than conventional methods. Sack racing is recommended as a fun, measurable training alternative for children's gymnastics coaches. Keywords: Sack Race, Explosive Power, Balance, Early-Age Gymnasts

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of student motivation and learning styles in relation to achieving success in the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) at the elementary school level. Disparities in achievement across schools indicate that athlete development programs have not fully accounted for students' motivational characteristics and learning styles, often resulting in training processes that rely on a uniform approach. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Participants included O2SN student-athletes, school principals, teacher-coaches, and parents, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation play a crucial role in shaping training enthusiasm, discipline, self-confidence, and perseverance among students participating in sports development programs. Furthermore, the application of instructional strategies tailored to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles enhances the effectiveness of mastering sports techniques during training. Support from principals, teachers, coaches, and parents, alongside the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure, serves to reinforce the success of O2SN athlete development. The findings underscore that integrating motivation, learning styles, and school environment support forms a vital foundation for establishing an effective, adaptive, and sustainable sports development system capable of boosting O2SN athlete achievement at the elementary school level.
