Abstract

Activities outside are unavoidable and lead to increased sun exposure to the skin. The purpose of this study was to formulate a gel using cinnamonraction as active ingredients. Cinnamon is extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and butanol solvents. The resulting fraction was then tested for total flavonoid content and antioxidant capacity using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl, 1-picrylhydrazil). Fractions that have strong antioxidant activity was further used as active ingredients. The test results of the total flavonoid content of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions were 0.265%w/wEQ; 1.035%w/wEQ; and 1.169%w/wEQ respectively. Testing of antioxidant capacity gave an IC50 value of 124.729ppm; 8.636ppm; and 7.858ppm. Furthermore, the butanol fraction was selected as the best fraction and used as the active ingredient of the gel formula. In conclusion, the butanol fraction could be formulated into a gel that met the requirements of physical characteristics.Keywords: butanol fraction, cinnamon, total flavonoid, antioxidant capacity, gel fraction

Abstract

ABSTRACT The gelling agent component is a critical factor that can affect gel’s physical characteristics, such as organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and viscosity. Starch is widely use as a filler and binder. The aim of the research was to analyze the effect of the formulation of salicylic acid gel using sago starch as a gelling agent on the physical characteristics of the gel. The research began with the extraction of sago starch, and gel formulations were prepared using starch as the gelling agent with variations in sago starch with F1 (6%), F2 (8%), and F3 (10%). The gels were evaluated for their physical properties, including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and spreadability testing over a period of 12 weeks at a temperature of 28ºC±2ºC. The research showed that all gel formulations did not undergo changes in organoleptic and homogeneity. In the pH test, all preparations met the requirements. The spreadability test results indicated that all gels did not meet the requirements, while only gel F1 did not meet the adhesion test requirements. Abstract

Emulgel merupakan sediaan topikal yang terdiri dari emulsi dan gelling agent. Minyak biji pala mengandung berbagai senyawa yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dari golongan fenolik yakni flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memformulasikan emulgel minyak biji pala yang stabil secara fisik. Dengan variasi konsentrasi dari Karbopol pada formula emulgel yang berfungsi sebagai Gelling Agent. Sediaan emulgel dibuat 3 formula yaitu FI (karbopol 0.5%), FII (karbopol 0.75%), FIII (karbopol 1%). Evaluasi sediaan emulgel yang dilakukan yaitu uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji daya sebar, dan uji daya lekat. Dari hasil evaluasi didapatkan semua formula memenuhi rentang stabilitas fisiknya.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global problem that affects many people and causes high morbidity and mortality rates. The pathogenesis of DM is linked to the influence of free radicals, and various studies have been conducted to overcome this problem by utilizing potential natural materials that are available and have medicinal effects. North Sulawesi has a variety of potential plants and fruits that can be utilized for health, one of which is snake fruit. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity, phenol content, flavonoids, and tannins in salak fruit extract. The research method used was maceration using 96% ethanol solvent, then evaporated to obtain a thick extract. The extract was then tested for total phenolics, flavonoids and tannins using a uv-vis spectrophotometer. Total phenolic content was determined using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent with gallic acid as a comparator. Total flavonoid content was determined with quercetin using AlCl3 reagent. Tannin content was determined with tannic acid. The results showed that the total phenolic content of salak fruit extract was 29.44 ± 1.02 mg Gallic Acid Equivalent (GAE)/g extract, while the total flavonoid content was 8,609 ± 1.69 mg Quercetin Equivalent (QE)/g extract. And the tannin content was 0.08184 ± 0.02 mg tannic acid equivalent (TAE)/g extract. The IC50 value of salak fruit extract is 22.16 which is included in the strong antioxidant category. Based on these results, salak fruit has the potential to be developed into pharmaceutical preparations that can be used to prevent or treat degenerative diseases.

Abstract

The global halal market, including halal food and beverage products, is expected to continue to grow widely. Halal food and drinks according to Islamic law have the criteria of being free from alcoholic, intoxicating and dangerous drinks as well as food additives containing derivatives of these drinks. There are many medicinal preparations circulating on the market that contain alcohol, one of which is cough medicine. This study aims to validate the method and measure alcohol levels in children's cough medicine taken randomly on the market. The method used is GC (Gas Chromatography) with validation determination in the form of linearity tests, system suitability tests, accuracy, LOD and LOQ calculations. The results of this study show that the linearity is R = 0.998. In the system suitability test, the chromatographic N value was >1000, HETP <0.3, and R >1.5. The accuracy obtained is in the range 81.13% - 123.57%. The LOD value is 0.1106% and LOQ is 0.3352%. As well as alcohol residue found in cough medicine samples of 0.075%. From these results it can be concluded that the GC (Gas Chromatography) method used has good validity and the residual alcohol content in children's cough medicine preparations meets the BPOM and MUI halal requirements. Abstract

ABSTRAK Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi klinisi dalam penatalaksanaan penyakit hipertensi adalah kepatuhan pasien. Penyakit hipertensi yang membutuhkan pengelolaan jangka panjang, menempatkan kepatuhan sebagai salah satu faktor utama dalam pencapaian target terapi pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat kepatuhan pasien hipertensi terhadap pengobatan di Puskesmas Kota Manado. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain penelitian cross sectional. Subjek penelitian ditentukan berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Pengambilan data pasien diperoleh dari rekam medik, buku pengobatan dan wawancara pasien menggunakan kuesioner MMAS-8. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 81 (46,3%) responden memiliki tingkat kepatuhan sedang, dimana skor rata-rata tingkat kepatuhan dari seluruh responden adalah 6,1 (kepatuhan sedang). Selain itu, tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara karakteristik pasien dengan kepatuhan pengobatan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kepatuhan pasien hipertensi terhadap pengobatan di Puskesmas Kota Manado masih termasuk dalam tingkat kepatuhan sedang, dimana hal ini menjadi tugas tenaga kesehatan untuk terus meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terkait hipertensi, khususnya terkait kepatuhan pengobatan, mengingat penyakit hipertensi merupakan salah satu penyakit terbanyak di Indonesia. Kata kunci: tingkat kepatuhan, hipertensi, pengobatan, MMAS-8, puskesmas ABSTRACT Clinicians face a challenge in managing hypertensive disease due to poor patient compliance. Compliance plays a crucial role in achieving long-term therapy goals for patients with hypertensive disease. To determine the level of compliance of hypertensive patients with treatment at the Manado City Health Center, an analytic observational study was conducted with a cross-sectional research design. The research subjects were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patient data were collected through medical records, treatment books, and MMAS-8 questionnaire-based interviews. The study found that 81 (46.3%) respondents had a moderate level of compliance, with an average score of 6.1 (moderate compliance) across all respondents. Furthermore, the study concluded that there was no significant relationship between patient characteristics and medication adherence. These results indicate that hypertension patients' compliance with treatment at the Manado City Health Center is still moderate. Therefore, health workers must continue to raise public awareness of hypertension, particularly in terms of treatment compliance since hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Indonesia. Abstract

Okra fruit (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is a natural ingredient that can be developed as a raw material for natural-based medicines. The phytochemical compounds contained in okra fruit are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids, coumarins, phenolics, glycosides. steroids and alkaloids, α-cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, components. Okra fruit with varying secondary metabolite content produces positive effects on the potential pharmacological activity of okra fruit. The potential pharmacological activity of okra fruit is as antidiabetic, hypolipidemic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, wound healing, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective and gastroprotective in addition to cardioprotective activity. Extracts must meet extract quality parameters, one of which is non-specific parameters for heavy metal contamination. This research aims to determine the heavy metal contamination content of Lead (Pb), Cadnium (Cd) and Arsenic (As) contained in the 70% ethanol extract of okra fruit. The okra fruit extraction process was carried out by maceration with 70% ethanol solvent. Determination of heavy metal content using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer instrument. The research results showed that the 70% ethanol extract of okra fruit did not contain Lead (Pb), Cadnium (Cd) and Arsenic (As). Abstract

ABSTRACT Drug Management in health services center was very crucial because that can guarantee the suitability of quality and drug needs which contain the management of unused or expired medicine. The aim of the study was to to know the suitability between how unused/expired medicine management in Grade II R. W Mongisidi Hospital Manado with guideline from Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia 2021. The research was an observational study qualitatively describes restrospectively primerly data collected with observe the unused/expired medicine and the result of an interview form from Pharmacy and warehouse attendant at hospital and prospectively secondary data from analyzed the monthly report documentation from August to October 2023 period. The result of the study showed that percentage of the suitability between how unused/expired medicine management in Hospital with guideline from Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia 2021 was 76% which categorized as good and several factor that can influence the unused/expired drug was the alteration of regulation from BPJS, the exchange of rules from hospital direction, over-procurement, the exchange of consumption pattern, and the decreased of patient visits. Keywords: drug management, unused medicine, expired medicine, hospital ABSTRAK Pentingnya manajemen pengelolaan obat di pusat pelayanan kesehatan dapat menjamin terpenuhinya kesesuaian kebutuhan dan kualitas obat, salah satunya pengelolaan obat rusak atau kedaluarsa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kesesuaian pengelolaan obat rusak/kedaluwarsa dengan pedoman yang ditetapkan Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia 2021 dan apa saja faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan obat rusak atau kedaluwarsa di Rumah Sakit Tk. II R. W. Mongisidi Manado. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional yang bersifat kualitatif dengan pendekatan retrospektif dimana data diperoleh dengan observasi pengelolaan obat rusak/kedaluwarsa dan wawancara kepada Apoteker Penanggung Jawab dan Petugas serta secara prospektif data sekunder dengan menganalisis dokumentasi laporan bulanan obat rusak atau kedaluwarsa di Rumah Sakit periode Agustus sampai bulan Oktober tahun 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa presentase kesesuaian Pengelolaan Obat Rusak atau Kedaluwarsa dengan Pedoman Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia RI Tahun 2021 adalah sebesar 76% dengan kategori baik dan beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan obat rusak atau kedaluwarsa yaitu perubahan regulasi obat tanggungan BPJS, perubahan aturan dari pimpinan RS, pengadaan obat berlebih, perubahan pola konsumsi, dan penurunan kunjungan pasien. Abstract

Sunscreen is a substance that can protect the skin from UV rays . One of the plants that can be used as a source of sunscreen is kaffir lime. Kaffir lime leaves contain secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, phenols, and tannins that can potentially be used as sunscreens. The purpose of this study was to determine the sunscreen potential of the ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves including the SPF value, the percent erythema transmission, and the percent transmission of pigmentation. Extraction of kaffir lime leaves using maceration method with 95% ethanol as solvent. Determination of sunscreen by UV-Vis spectrophotometry..The results show that at the highest concentration of 250 ppm ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves with an SPF value of 17.29±0.45 (ultra protection). The percent value of erythema transmission at the highest concentration of 250 ppm ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves with a %Te value (1,68±0.03)% (extra protection). The percent value of pigmentation transmission at the highest concentration of 250 ppm ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves with a %Tp value of (5,54±0.02)% (sunblock).

Abstract

Karang lunak bertahan hidup dengan mengeluarkan metabolit sekunder sebagai respon terhadap lingkungan. Metabolit sekunder ini diketahui memiliki aktivitas farmakologi salah satunya antioksidan. Senyawa antioksidan berperan melengkapi elektron radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol Lobophytum sp. dan Sarcophyton sp.. Jenis penelitan ini merupakan eksperimental laboratorium dengan pengujian terhadap ekstrak etanol karang lunak Lobophytum sp. dan Sarcophyton sp. menggunakan metode DPPH (1-1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl). Aktivitas antioksidan ditentukan dengan nilai IC50. Dari hasil perhitungan IC50, didapatkan ekstrak karang lunak Lobophytum sp. 14.5732 mg/L dan Sarcopyhton sp. 24,3527 mg/L dan. Nilai IC50 dari Sarcophyton sp maupun Lobophytum sp. yang diperoleh dari Perairan Pantai Parentek Kabupaten Minahasa masuk kategori sangat kuat dengan nilai dibawah 50 mg/L.
