Abstract

Background: This study explores the role of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) as formative institutions in the intellectual and moral development of santri (students) in Indonesia. Purpose: The research emphasizes the significance of pesantren in fostering not only religious knowledge but also critical thinking and ethical values among santri, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to national development. Method: Utilizing a qualitative approach, the study involves interviews, observations, and document analysis to assess the educational practices within pesantren, focusing on their curriculum, teaching methods, and community engagement. Result: The findings reveal that pesantren play a crucial role in shaping the character and competencies of santri, equipping them with the necessary skills to address contemporary societal challenges. Moreover, the study highlights the potential of pesantren in reinforcing Indonesia's human capital development through a holistic education system that integrates spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth. Conclusion: Overall, this research underscores the importance of pesantren in supporting Indonesia's progress by nurturing well-rounded and responsible individuals.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools, as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, face the challenge of maintaining cultural values while adopting modern educational innovations. This study examines the efforts of pesantren in Lombok to balance tradition and modernization of education. Using an ethnographic approach, the study involved participant observation and in-depth interviews with 30 stakeholders from five prominent Islamic boarding schools in Lombok. The results show that pesantren have developed adaptive strategies to integrate contemporary technology and teaching methods into their traditional curriculum while maintaining core Islamic values and local wisdom. Curriculum innovations, such as the introduction of secular subjects and skills training, have increased the competitiveness of Islamic boarding school graduates in the modern job market. However, challenges remain in managing resistance from conservative elements and ensuring the continuity of the Islamic intellectual tradition. This study contributes to a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics of educational change in the context of traditional religious institutions, highlighting the importance of a balanced approach in the modernization of pesantren education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk; pertama, menemukan dan menganalis langkah-langkah internalisasi karakter berbasis moderasi beragama, kedua, menemukan model pengembangan karakter berbasis moderasi beragama dan, ketiga, menganalisis implikasi dari hasil internalisasi terhadap pengembangan diri santri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus dan rancangan multi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Analisis data yang digunakan dengan tahapan kondensasi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Untuk keabsahan data, berdasarkan tiga kriteria yaitu perpanjangan dalam keterlibatan, ketekunan dalam pengamatan, dan triangulasi data. Hasil penelitian: Pertama, langkah internalisasi karakter berbasis moderasi beragama (toleransi, komitmen kebangsaan, anti kekerasan dan akomodatif terhadap budaya lokal) dipesantren dilakukan dengan empat cara, yaitu peneladanan, pengajaran, pembiasaan, dan pengalaman, Kedua, model pengembangan karakter berbasis moderasi beragama pada dua pesantren dilakukan dengan dua model antara lain di Pesantren Nurul Amin Samarinda menggunakan model Lickona (Moral Knowing, Moral Loving dan Moral Doing) dengan mendahulukan moral doing, moral knowing dan moral loving. Kemudian Pesantren Al Husna Samarinda menggunakan Model Muhaimin antara lain model transformasi nilai, transaksi nilai dan transinternalisasi. Model pengembangan karakter dapat menjadi alternatif pilihan bagi pesantren agar internalisasi karakter tersebut dapat lebih efektif peneliti menemukan model HUAM yakni pembiasaan (Habituation), pemahaman dan penalaran nilai (Understanding), Penerapan dalam perilaku dan tindakan (Application), dan pemaknaan (Meaning). Ketiga, pengembangan diri lulusan sebagai hasil dari internalisasi karakter berbasis moderasi beragama bahwa lulusan dapat membuktikan pesantren mampu memberikan bekal kepada lulusan dalam beberapa hal yaitu memiliki karakter dan berkepribadian yang moderat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi implementasi teori belajar konstruktivis dalam Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) serta menganalisis bagaimana pendekatan ini mendorong pembelajaran yang aktif dan reflektif. Teori belajar konstruktivis berfokus pada pembelajaran yang berbasis pengalaman, interaksi sosial, dan refleksi, memungkinkan siswa untuk membangun pengetahuan mereka secara mandiri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan guru PAI, siswa, dan kepala sekolah, observasi kelas, serta analisis dokumen pembelajaran seperti Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) dan modul ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru PAI menerapkan berbagai strategi pembelajaran konstruktivis, termasuk pembelajaran berbasis masalah (Problem-Based Learning), diskusi kelompok, pembelajaran berbasis proyek, dan penggunaan teknologi interaktif. Implementasi strategi ini terbukti meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif siswa, mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, serta memfasilitasi refleksi yang mendalam terkait penerapan ajaran Islam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: 1) Pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional terhadap profesionalitas guru, 2) Pengaruh budaya organisasi terhadap profesionalitas guru, 3) Pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional dan budaya organisasi secara bersama-sama terhadap profesionalitas guru, 4) Pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional terhadap kinerja guru, 5) Pengaruh budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja guru, 6) Pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional dan budaya organisasi secara bersama-sama terhadap kinerja guru, 7) Pengaruh profesionalitas guru terhadap kinerja guru, dan 8) Pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional, budaya organisasi, dan profesionalitas guru secara bersama-sama terhadap kinerja guru di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri di Lampung. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis korelasi, dan melibatkan 400 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan transformasional dan budaya organisasi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap profesionalitas dan kinerja guru, baik secara individu maupun bersama-sama. Profesionalitas guru sendiri juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru, dengan kontribusi total dari semua faktor sebesar 13,7%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kepemimpinan transformasional kepala Madrasah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap profesionalitas guru dengan kontribusi 5,6%; (2) Budaya organisasi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap profesionalitas guru dengan kontribusi 4,1%; (3) Keduanya secara bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap profesionalitas guru sebesar 7,3%; (4) Kepemimpinan transformasional berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan kontribusi 6,2%; (5) Budaya organisasi berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru sebesar 3,6%; (6) Secara bersama-sama, keduanya mempengaruhi kinerja guru sebesar 7,5%; (7) Profesionalitas guru berpengaruh terhadap kinerja dengan kontribusi 9,9%; dan (8) Kombinasi ketiga faktor berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru sebesar 13,7%.

Abstract

Background: Islamic scholars have historically played a vital role in shaping Jakarta’s Islamic landscape, actively contributing to the spread of Islam through education, da'wah, and the establishment of religious organizations. Extending their influence beyond religious matters, these scholars have fostered economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and unity among Muslims in the region. Purpose: This study delves into the contributions of KH. Muhajirin Amsari Ad-Dary, is a distinguished religious figure within the Betawi community, highlighting his pivotal role in advancing Islamic knowledge, da'wah, and social cohesion. Through his scholarly works, da'wah efforts, and community leadership, KH. Muhajirin Amsari Ad-Dary significantly impacted the religious practices, education, and spiritual development of the Betawinese. Method: This research examines his methods and influence, showcasing how he shaped the religious identity and unity of the Betawi community while preserving their Islamic and cultural heritage. Result: By focusing on his legacy in Islamic scholarship and community leadership, this study underscores the enduring influence of Betawi ulama in sustaining religious and cultural identity, positioning KH. Muhajirin Amsari Ad-Dary's contributions are emblematic of the broader impact of Betawi scholars on the development of Islam in Jakarta. Conclusion: KH. Muhajirin Amsari Ad-Dary's contributions exemplify the vital role of Betawi scholars in enriching Islamic education, promoting community unity, and preserving cultural heritage in Jakarta.

Abstract

Background: The widespread practice of usury with high interest rates targets various segments of society, including those in pesantren communities. To address the issues faced by individuals in the vicinity of pesantren, the formation of social solidarity for collective welfare is essential. Purpose: This study aims to examine the process of social character formation among members of the Pesantren Persis Ciganitri community, specifically through activities in the *Halaqoh Mingguan* (Halmi) program. Method: The research employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation study, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Result: The results of this study reveal that the process of social character formation occurs through learning activities conducted by teachers (ustad, ustadzah), as well as supervisors or officials from the Micro Waqf Bank Berkah Umat Ciganitri. Learning is carried out through lectures aimed at instilling social and religious values embedded in an oath. This oath, recited at each meeting, serves as a commitment from the members to improve their economy through halal (permissible) business practices and to enhance their children's education. Conclusion: The outcomes of this social character formation within the Halmi program include cooperation, social solidarity, respect for differences, and cultural assimilation—values that reflect the social character shaped through these Halmi activities.

Abstract

Character building, particularly discipline, has become a primary focus in Indonesia's national education system, reinforced by Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2017 on the Strengthening of Character Education (PPK). This has become increasingly urgent given the rising cases of juvenile delinquency such as brawls, bullying, drug abuse, and other undisciplined behaviors, with KPAI data showing a 1.1% increase in brawls in 2018, and 24-28% of drug abusers being students according to the BNN in 2019. In this context, the learning of Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) in madrasahs, as implemented in MTs. Darussalam Kota Bogor, plays a strategic role in shaping the character and discipline of students, although its implementation still faces various challenges that require synergy between schools, families, and the community to optimize the formation of disciplined student character in accordance with Islamic values and national education demands. Descriptive statistical analysis shows that the level of strengthening disciplinary character education in Aqidah Akhlak learning tends to be in the moderate category with an average value of 66.51 and relatively evenly distributed data. However, previous research indicates that the strengthening of disciplinary character education can reach a high category when supported by factors such as teacher competence, learning facilities, and parental involvement. Meanwhile, descriptive statistical analysis of student discipline shows a tendency towards high and relatively homogeneous levels of discipline. Furthermore, the results of Pearson correlation analysis reveal a significant positive relationship between the strengthening of character education and student discipline, although some previous studies have found different results, indicating that external factors such as family environment and social interactions also play an important role in shaping student discipline. At MTs. Darussalam Kota Bogor, there are several special programs designed to strengthen character education, including: 1. Friday Blessing Program, 2. Dhuha Program, 3. Dzikir Asmaul Husna and Shalawat Nariyah, 4. Extracurricular Activities. The learning of Aqidah Akhlak at MTs. Darussalam Kota Bogor has a very significant implication in shaping the younger generation to be people of integrity, ethics, and responsibility. Although this approach has shown positive results in the formation of student character and discipline, there are still several challenges that need to be addressed, such as the tendency towards cognitive-based learning, formal routines without deep meaning, and the influence of external factors such as social media and social environments. To achieve optimal and sustainable results in the formation of student character and discipline, a synergistic effort between schools, families, and the community is required to support this process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore in depth the concept of education applied in Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah and how this institution has succeeded in integrating Islamic religious education with general science teaching to produce graduates who are noble and competent in various aspects of life. The methodology of this study uses a qualitative-interpretive approach, with data collection methods including interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The subjects of the study consisted of leaders and teachers at Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah and documents related to their education system. The conclusion of this study shows that the Concept of Education in Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah does not only focus on mastering science, but also places religious values ​​as the main foundation in forming the character of students. This integrative education system is characterized by a balanced curriculum between the world and the hereafter, and the concept of education offered is able to answer modern challenges without ignoring the Islamic values ​​that are the core of the education.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) integrated with Islamic values in improving college students' self-efficacy. Low self-efficacy often hinders students' academic performance and emotional well-being, highlighting the need for interventions that address both psychological and spiritual dimensions. This study integrates ACT principles, which emphasize acceptance, commitment, and values, with Islamic teachings such as ikhlas, tawakal, and ridha, to create a holistic counseling framework. Using a pretest-posttest quasi-experiment design, the study involved 15 students from the Counseling Program at Al-Washliyah Muslim Nusantara University who had low self-efficacy. The results showed a significant increase in self-efficacy scores in the experimental group, increasing from 48.2 (low) to 72.5 (moderate to high), while the control group showed minimal change from 65.7 to 67.3. Statistical analysis confirmed the significance of these changes with an effect size (Cohen's d) of 0.7439, indicating a large impact. Qualitative responses further highlighted students' positive perceptions of integrating Islamic values into the counseling process. The students noted that the use of Quranic affirmations, such as “Allah does not burden anyone but according to his ability” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 286), provided emotional relief and strengthened their self-confidence. The findings underscore the potential of Islamic value-based ACT to foster psychological flexibility, resilience and self-efficacy. This approach offers a practical framework for counselors to address the challenges faced by Muslim students, by integrating faith-based values with modern therapeutic practices. Future research is recommended to expand its applicability to a wider student population and explore its adaptability to digital counseling platforms.
