Abstract

Background: The Qur’an, as a guide for the lives of Muslims to live in this world until the hereafter, certainly provides discussions on education and needs to be explored and studied. Objective: This study examines the concept of Islamic educational materials and media in the Qur’an. Method: This type of research is educational research, using qualitative methods with a thematic exegesis (tafsir maudhu’i) approach. Data was collected from library sources. The collected data was analyzed using theories of educational materials and media. Research findings: First, the verses of the Qur’an tend to emphasize the value aspects of educational materials more than the technical details of the names of disciplines. In the Qur’an, Islamic educational materials include all kinds of knowledge that discuss humans and the universe. Second, the Qur’an and Western tradition agree in discussing the concept of educational media. Anything that can be used to improve the behavior of learners should be pursued. Conclusion: This research will be doubly useful: first, it will contribute to enriching the treasury of knowledge in Islamic Religious Education, and second, it will enrich the treasury of Qur'anic exegesis. Further research can confirm whether the verses of the Qur’an align with Western traditions or not; and in which aspects they align or do not; particularly regarding the topics of Islamic education materials and media

Its integration into public policy can serve as a strategic means to strengthen social inclusion, reduce discrimination, and enhance social cohesion. Purpose of the Study: This study examines how religious education contributes to public policy in fostering inclusive societies by comparing practices in Indonesia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Methods: A qualitative comparative case study was conducted using literature A qualitative comparative case study was conducted through literature analysis, document review, and policy evaluation, drawing on constitutional mandates, curriculum frameworks, official reports, and scholarly research. Thematic analysis was used to compare how RE is institutionalized and its implications for inclusivity. Results: Canada and the UK demonstrate that inclusive and non-doctrinal RE—supported by pluralistic curricula and strong governance—effectively promotes tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and social cohesion. Indonesia continues to face fragmented systems and exclusive curricula, although initiatives such as pluralism-oriented curricula, interfaith programs, and Pancasila-based character education indicate emerging progress. Conclusions: Integrating RE into public policy can enhance inclusion when supported by targeted curriculum reform, teacher capacity-building, and accountability mechanisms. The study recommends cross-religious modules, multi-faith advisory councils, and inclusive pedagogies to strengthen the role of RE in building cohesive and democratic societies.

Abstract

Background: Islamic higher education in Indonesia has undergone significant changes in the last two decades. The institutional shift from IAIN to UIN has brought epistemological challenges in integrating religious and rational sciences. The Wahdatul 'Ulum paradigm developed at UIN North Sumatra aims to resolve scientific dualism by using a scientific framework based on tauhid. Purpose: Wahdatul 'Ulum is an epistemological paradigm that integrates Islamic knowledge and rational knowledge within a consistent and transformative framework. Method: This study uses a qualitative case study with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, analysis of institutional documents, and participatory observation at UINSU. Results: Findings show that the Wahdatul 'Ulum paradigm is built on three main foundations: ontological, namely tauhid as the essence of all knowledge; epistemological, namely the integration of revelation and reason; and axiological, namely a focus on social transformation through education. Conclusion: The Wahdatul 'Ulum paradigm transcends theological debates and functions as an integrative scientific model that reinterprets the purpose of Islamic higher education and contributes to the global discourse on the decolonization of knowledge.

Abstract

Objective: This study analyzes the contribution of productive waqf to community economic empowerment in Lampung Province, highlighting the role of Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) representatives, nazhir, and the influence of local social norms and cultural values. Method: The research approach used a qualitative descriptive-analytical method through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies in Central Lampung and Pesawaran Regencies. Results: The results show that productive waqf management is developing through the utilization of waqf land assets, cash waqf collection, and collaboration with LKS-PWU and community business models such as collective farming and social retail. The main challenges include low waqf literacy, limited managerial capacity of nazhir, and less than optimal regulatory support and institutional networks. The integration of local values such as fi’il pesenggiri and the sabilillah tradition strengthens social legitimacy and community participation. Conclusion: These findings confirm that productive waqf has the potential to become a sustainable community-based empowerment instrument if managed professionally, transparently, and adaptively to local wisdom. Implications: The implications of this study can be a reference for the development of productive waqf policies and practices in other regions, both in Indonesia and countries with similar social characteristics.

Abstract

Background: This study focuses on evaluating university students’ ability to complete academic assignments accurately and on time. Timeliness in completing tasks may be influenced by both external and internal factors. Resilience, religious habituation, and technological utilization are among the variables that can shape individual behavior, particularly in the digital generation. Purpose: The aim of this research is to examine the extent to which resilience, the routine practice of congregational prayer, and the use of Artefact Intelligence (AI) affect students’ punctuality in completing academic assignments. Method: The research sample consisted of 100 postgraduate students from five study programs at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, all in their second semester. Data were collected over a three-week period using a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5). Result: Findings indicate that resilience, the frequency of congregational prayer, and AI utilization collectively have a significant influence of 58.3% on assignment timeliness, while the remaining 31.7% is attributed to other factors not examined in this study. Conclusion: Further analysis shows that congregational prayer and AI usage each have significant effects, with p-values of 0.005 and 0.001 at the 5% confidence level, respectively, whereas resilience does not significantly impact timeliness. Implications: This lack of significance may be due to reduced perseverance among Generation Z students, many of whom lack strong motivation, spend considerable time in leisure, and have limited engagement in social environments

Abstract

Background: The customary and Islamic traditions that color Banjar diamond craft activities contain noble and important values in character formation in Islamic education. Objective: This research aims to examine Banjar diamond crafts, both in the activities of diamond panning and polishing, by exploring local and Islamic customs and the character values contained there in and analyzing them from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy. Method: This research uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and triangulation with Banjar diamond miners and polishers. Result: The research results show that there is three dimensions of harmonization of custom and Islam in Banjar diamond crafts, namely the dimensions of religious practice, work ethics, and local wisdom. The three dimensions of harmonization of custom and Islam are relevant to character education as follows. First, religious practice forms the character of piety, obedience to worship, spiritual awareness that efforts must be intended as worship, responsibility, sincerity and gratitude as important elements in the dimension of religious character. Second, work ethics forms the character of hard work, resilience, honesty, and responsibility, as well as diligence, perseverance, tenacity and patience as the development of persistent and integrity character. Third, local wisdom forms the character of respect for tradition, cooperation, tolerance, civilization, and a strong cultural identity. Conclusion: The overall practice of harmonization of custom and Islam in diamond crafts from the perspective of Islamic Educational Philosophy, both perennially and essentially, strongly shapes the character of Banjar society. Harmonization between custom and Islam in Banjar diamond crafts is a manifestation of local wisdom as well as a primary source in character education. Thus, this study enriches the literature on character education, cultural education, and also the philosophy of Islamic education.

Abstract

Background: This study examines the application of the tikrār (repetition) tradition in memorizing Nadzm Alfiyah Ibnu Mālik at Mahad Aly Pondok Pesantren Annur 2. Purpose: The main objectives of the research are to describe the models of tikrār implementation, analyze supporting and hindering factors, and map the experiences of students and their implications for the design of memorization programs. Three main models of tikrār were identified: (1) gradual repetition of each verse independently, (2) collective repetition led by the class leader, and (3) full target repetition according to the semester goal. Method: The CIPP evaluation shows that this strategy is suitable for Mahad Aly students, supported by adequate human resources and facilities, although it faces challenges such as time limitations, nighttime fatigue, and fluctuating motivation. SWOT-TOWS analysis reveals the main strengths of a consistent program structure and strong communal culture, while its weaknesses include method monotony and a lack of retrieval practice variation. Implication: Practical implications include designing a realistic schedule, developing monitoring tools based on logbooks, incorporating spaced retrieval activities, and providing time management training. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between pesantren traditions and modern cognitive approaches to enhance the effectiveness of memorization programs.

Abstract

Background: Children with Special Needs is the term used to describe children who have developmental disorders. These disorders can arise due to internal factors within the child's own development or external factors. Because of these limitations, people, especially in developing countries, generally perceive them as children who have lost their right to education and empowerment. Purpose: This article aims to present the results of research related to the right to education for Children with Special Needs   from an Islamic education perspective. Method: This research uses library research methods by attempting to analyze the collected data (content analysis), both from the Qur'an and the Hadith, and of course from sources published in scientific journals about their right to education. The general view of children with special needs   is that they are exempt from legal obligations and empowerment. Therefore, the role of Islamic education is very much needed to change the negative paradigm of society towards them. Conclusion: Children with special needs in Islam, with all their limitations, are still regarded as Muslims who do not lose their rights and obligations and are not stripped of their title as caliphs of Allah SWT on this earth.
