Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study examines the implementation of a culture of shame in shaping the character of teacher discipline at MAPN 4 Medan. The culture of shame, which is based on social norms, stresses responsibility for mistakes. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, involving the principal, vice principal, teachers, and administrative staff. Data analysis followed four stages: collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of a culture of shame at MAPN 4 Medan has been effective, although not yet fully integrated. Socialization was carried out through moral training, motivational programs, and instilling the values of a culture of shame. These initiatives aim to build teacher discipline and strengthen moral identity, leading to increased responsibility and professionalism. Positive changes observed include a decrease in rule violations and tardiness. Despite obstacles such as cultural resistance, the overall approach to cultivating shame accompanied by motivation positively affects the character of discipline and moral identity, encouraging greater discipline, responsibility, and professionalism, although individual awareness is still needed.

Abstract

This study explores the transformative potential of the Disability Scholarship Program initiated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) in 2019. The program aims to empower persons with disabilities by providing access to higher education. A qualitative approach was adopted, combining semi-structured interviews and questionnaires using a four-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis, integrating both primary and secondary sources. Findings indicate that the program successfully facilitates access to top universities (mean score: 3.80), enhances equal opportunity (3.75), and enables alumni to inspire others in their communities (3.85). These outcomes highlight the program’s broader social impact beyond educational access. Based on the results, the study proposes practical improvements, including regular policy updates, professional assistance during recruitment, customized academic and psychological preparation, stronger monitoring, active alumni engagement, and comprehensive staff training. These recommendations aim to strengthen the program’s inclusivity and sustainability. This study offers a new perspective by evaluating the LPDP disability scholarship from the beneficiaries’ viewpoint and providing actionable, field-based recommendations to inform inclusive scholarship policies.

Abstract

This study examines cultural event programming as a strategy to strengthen brand positioning at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park in the domestic market. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining interviews with four internal stakeholders and surveys of 400 domestic visitors (2022–2025). The analysis applied Cai’s brand positioning model, McKercher and du Cros’s cultural tourist typology, and Getz and Morrison’s participatory event framework. Findings show that while GWK is widely recognized, its cultural image is narrowly associated with the iconic statue, and the visitor experience is often perceived as static. A misalignment between GWK’s cultural mission and commercial focus further weakens its cultural appeal. This study proposes a repositioning model based on symbolic narrative integration, participatory cultural programs, and targeted visitor segmentation. The findings contribute to cultural tourism by introducing an integrated branding-programming model that emphasizes internal alignment to deliver more authentic and immersive cultural experiences.

Abstract

This study expands the maturity level of Knowledge Management (KM) at PT ADK and identifies challenges and strategic solutions to improve its implementation. A quantitative survey of 53 employees and qualitative interviews indicate that PT ADK is at the Initiation stage based on the APO KM framework, with the Technology element scoring the highest. Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the improvement priorities are Technology, Process, and Leadership. Key barriers include fragmented knowledge infrastructure, reliance on individuals, and lack of leadership alignment. To address these, two initiative strategies are proposed: developing integrated knowledge systems and procedures, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. These initiatives are expected to improve KM effectiveness, align organizational capabilities with competitive demands, and contribute to business sustainability performance. The study also highlights the long-term potential of KM in driving innovation, preserving institutional knowledge, and increasing employee engagement. The combination of the APO and AHP frameworks offers a structured approach for maritime sector companies seeking to strengthen KM.

Abstract

This study highlights the gap between formal performance development values and hierarchical work culture in emerging market FMCG companies, specifically in PT MNO, Indonesia. This qualitative research proposes a reward-integrated Performance Development System (PDS) that aligns with agile transformation goals and cultural realities. Data from in-depth interviews, surveys, HR documents, and performance reports indicate that the existing PDS is ambiguous, disconnected from career development, bureaucratic, and inconsistent with rewards. Cultural aspirations such as agility and autonomy are hampered by high power distance and collectivist norms, reducing clarity and trust.  Therefore, a new PDS model that is culturally responsive and behaviorally aligned is developed. The model includes shared goal setting, continuous feedback, transparent communication of performance and reward expectations, and competency-based achievement tied to financial incentives and career mobility. This approach is expected to increase employee engagement, fairness, system adoption, and alignment with business agility. This study makes a significant contribution as the first adaptive PDS blueprint that integrates a transparent dual-track reward mechanism while bridging the barriers of hierarchical culture with agile performance demands in emerging markets. It offers practical guidance for HR leaders and transformation architects.
