The purpose of this study was to see the impact of dzikir lathifah on the soul of someone who practices it. The formulation of the problem in this study: 1). How to practice the dzikir of the seven Naqsyabandiyah lathifah in Kerinci 2). How does dzikir of the tarekat lead to peace of mind. This scientific paper uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive analytical method, a research method that aims to describe and analyze the data that has been collected. The results of the study explain that these seven latifah were first introduced by Sheikh Ahmad Naqsyabandi, a Sufi in the 11th century. According to the understanding of the Naqsyabandiyah tarekat in the human body there are seven places (latifah) as the residence of lust which must be cleaned by dzikir as much as 70,000 times by mentioning the asma. Before practicing the practice of dzikir latifah, a student must first perform a bai'at suluk. After that, practice the Naqsyabandiyah latifah dzikir, namely: Lathifah Qalbi, Lathifah This Ruh, Lathifah Sirr, Lathifah Khafi, Lathifah akhfa, Latifatun nafsun natiqah and Latifah kullu jasad. Latifah dzikir has a very extraordinary impact on life, especially for peace of mind.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the quality indicators of calligraphy within the implementation of the Hamidi Method, as well as to trace the spiritual dimensions embedded in the calligraphy learning process at SAKAL Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) in Jombang. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes how technical aspects—such as proportional accuracy (nisbah), consistency of letterforms, and artistic composition—are harmoniously integrated with spiritual values, making each stroke of calligraphy a form of devotion to the Divine Word (Kalamullah). The Hamidi Method is implemented progressively through the use of kurrasah (instructional booklets) and scholarly mentorship rooted in a chain of transmission (sanad), developing students'skills while instilling discipline and Islamic spirituality. The indicators of calligraphy quality in this context include five key aspects: proper use of tools and materials, technical precision, harmonious layout composition, fluency in writing, and artistic expression grounded in tradition. From Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s perspective on spirituality, calligraphy is not merely visual art but sacred art that fulfills four main functions: psychological-spiritual balance, reminder of Divine transcendence, reflection of collective religious consciousness, and a symbol of Islamic civilizational progress. The findings indicate that the Hamidi Method is not only effective for technical skill development but also serves as a transformative educational model that blends spirituality and culture, bridging classical Islamic values with contemporary relevance.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the Aboge Islamic community in Sumbersuko Village maintains its existence amid modernization, which tends to promote uniformity in religious practices. This research employs a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method. The researcher acts as the main instrument, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed inductively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The study focuses on three aspects: first, understanding Aboge Islam as a form of religious expression intertwined with local culture; second, exploring the function of the Aboge calendar as a timekeeping system rich in spiritual meaning and cultural identity; third, analyzing the practice of the collective tradition of Jumat Legi Night as a means of strengthening internal solidarity and building inclusive social relationships. The findings show that the Aboge Islamic community successfully preserves its traditions by developing adaptive strategies rooted in ancestral values while remaining open to wider social interaction. Their religious practices serve not only as cultural resistance but also as a unifying force in the midst of social change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of philosophical approaches in Islamic studies to the challenges of Generation Z lifestyle in the modern era, as well as to identify strategies for implementing Islamic philosophical values in contemporary digital life. Generation Z faces a dilemma between maintaining Islamic identity and meeting the demands of modernity that often conflict with religious principles. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach based on library research. The research sample consists of literature relevant to the research theme, including academic books, scientific journal articles, and digital content discussing Islamic philosophy, Generation Z characteristics, and modernity issues. The research instrument uses systematic literature selection techniques with criteria of thematic relevance, social and philosophical context relevance, and thematic continuity related to Islamic philosophy and Generation Z lifestyle. Data analysis is conducted through data source triangulation to ensure validity and objectivity of findings. The research results show that Islamic philosophical approaches, particularly the concepts of tawhid, Islamic epistemology (integration of naqli and aqli knowledge), Islamic ethics, and theology, have high relevance in helping Generation Z face modern lifestyle challenges. The discussion reveals three main aspects: Generation Z challenges in the digital context include social alienation, value conflicts, and critical attitudes toward religious institutions; the relevance of Islamic philosophy lies in its ability to integrate rationality and spirituality; and strategies for facing modernity through the unification of revelation and reasoning, strengthening Islamic ethics in the digital world, and understanding Islamic metaphysics. The research conclusion affirms that Islamic philosophy provides a framework of thought that can guide Generation Z to maintain their Islamic identity while adapting to the demands of the times, enabling them to live a balanced life between spirituality and modernity.

Abstract

Upa Upa Tondi is a cultural tradition that is still preserved by Mandailing ethnic communities, but its suitability with Islamic aqidah needs to be reviewed. This tradition is believed to contain elements of spiritual support, but potentially contains values that are contrary to the principle of tawhid. The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning and implementation of the tradition and critically analyze it from the perspective of Islamic aqidah in order to find a balance point between cultural preservation and purity of faith. The research uses a qualitative method with a social theology approach, collecting data through observation and interviews with traditional and religious figures. The findings show that this tradition contains positive social values such as solidarity, empathy, and communal care. However, from an Islamic theological perspective, this practice requires critical evaluation to ensure it does not deviate from the principle of tawhid, especially regarding beliefs in spiritual elements not based on Islamic teachings. Therefore, a wise and educational approach is needed so that this tradition can continue to be preserved within the framework of pure Islamic values.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a nation with a Muslim-majority population, presents its own dynamics in the development of national law. This article aims to analyze the processes of transformation and integration of Islamic law into Indonesia’s national legal system from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Employing historical, normative, and sociological approaches, this study traces the trajectory of Islamic law from the era of Islamic kingdoms in the archipelago and the colonial period to its institutionalization in the modern national legal framework through regulations such as the 1974 Marriage Law, the Compilation of Islamic Law, and the recognition of Sharia in Aceh. The findings indicate that Islamic law functions not only as a cultural and religious legacy but also as a normative pillar that strengthens the national legal system. Its integration has occurred through legislative channels, the religious court system, and public policies that are harmonized with the values of Pancasila and the Constitution. Nevertheless, this process continues to face challenges, particularly in reconciling Sharia-based norms with principles of human rights and gender equality. This article underscores the need for a contextual fiqh approach and the application of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah so that Islamic law may serve as an instrument of substantive justice that is adaptable to Indonesia’s legal and social pluralism.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the semantic dimensions of the Qur’anic term qadha’ by analyzing its basic meanings, derivations, and contextual functions through syntagmatic and paradigmatic approaches. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research employs semantic analysis as its primary instrument, drawing data from classical and contemporary lexicons, tafsir works, and concordance-based occurrences of qadha’ in the Qur’an, which appear 56 times in various morphological forms. The syntagmatic analysis explores the relational meaning of qadha’ within its surrounding linguistic structures, revealing its functions in expressing divine decree, legal decisions, fulfillment, completion, and finalization of matters. The paradigmatic analysis compares qadha’ with semantically related terms such as amr, faradha, and atamma, as well as its antonyms like naqadha and ajjala, showing how semantic oppositions and equivalences contribute to the formation of its conceptual range. The findings indicate that qadha’ represents not merely a theological notion but a comprehensive semantic structure that affirms the absoluteness of God’s will in creation, legislation, lifespan, and the resolution of affairs. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the semantic understanding of qadha’ has significant implications for religious coping, as the belief in divine decree fosters active acceptance, emotional regulation, spiritual connectedness, and resilience when facing psychological and existential pressures. In conclusion, the concept of qadha’ provides a theological foundation that reinforces positive religious coping strategies and remains relevant for addressing the uncertainties and stressors of modern life.

Abstract

This study investigates the symbolic meanings of bale in Malay Muslim family rituals in Tanjungbalai and how they sustain social cohesion. Despite its ubiquity, prior research rarely maps the moral grammar of bale, traces intergenerational transmission, or specifies the minimum etiquette that legitimizes recent variations. Using a qualitative phenomenological cultural design, we collected data through nonparticipant observation at khataman, aqiqah, and upah upah; in depth semi structured interviews with religious leaders, adat figures, artisans and organizers, and household members; and document review. The researcher served as the primary instrument. Thematic analysis consisted of iterative coding, theme development, and verification, supported by triangulation, member checking, and an audit trail to ensure trustworthiness. Findings show that bale functions as a value laden sign system rather than ornamentation. Core elements include pulut, egg, inti made from coconut and palm sugar, meat, cover or symmetry, and tiered placement; together they index gratitude, adab, solidarity, sacrifice, and orderly conduct. Although forms vary by event and family preference, the aims of gratitude, etiquette, and silaturahim remain stable. Modernization introduces looser color palettes and occasional uncovered bale, which are accepted when minimum etiquette and communal legitimacy are preserved. Youth knowledge is shaped by family practice and by guidance from religious and adat authorities. The study specifies simple etiquette thresholds and practical supports—concise documentation, intergenerational education, and local leadership—to sustain bale as a medium for transmitting Islamic Malay values and strengthening social bonds.
