Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how the demonstrative approach is used in Madrasah Tsanawiyah to enhance students' comprehension of the Al-Qur'an Hadith content. The demonstration method is used to connect theory with practice, so that students not only memorize the texts of the Al-Qur'an and Hadith, but can also apply them in everyday life. The classroom action research (CAR) method used in this study was carried out in two cycles, each of which included planning, execution, observation, and reflection. Tests, interviews, and observation were used to gather data both before and after the demonstration approach was put into practice. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the Al-Qur'an Hadith material, with 91.06% of students achieving learning mastery in the second cycle. The demonstration method has been proven effective in increasing student participation, learning motivation, and their social skills. However, this study is limited to one location and a small sample, so it is recommended to conduct further research with a more comprehensive design and a larger sample. This study contributes to the development of Islamic religious learning methods that are more applicable and interesting for students.

Abstract

Bullying behavior in secondary schools is a serious issue that negatively affects students’ psychological, social, and moral development. This phenomenon not only harms the victims but also impacts the perpetrators, bystanders, and the overall school climate. Islamic education plays a strategic role in the moral development of students as part of both preventive and solution-based efforts to address deviant behaviors such as bullying. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of bullying behavior and to describe the urgency of Islamic education in shaping students' character at SMAN 28 Tangerang Regency. This research employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, beginning with the collection of quantitative data through surveys and analysis using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), followed by qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The qualitative data were analyzed using grounded theory through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings indicate that the characteristics of bullying behavior are influenced by gender and social constructs. Male students are more likely to be involved in physical and verbal bullying, while female students are more vulnerable to relational and psychological bullying. Bystanders tend to remain passive due to social pressure, although they have the potential to become agents of change if provided with training and support. The study concludes that it is necessary to develop a model of moral development based on Islamic education that is responsive to the contextual characteristics of bullying in order to foster a safe, just, and dignified school culture.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the Kiai-preneur leadership model in the economic transformation of pesantren. The research was conducted at Darussalam Pesantren, Blokagung, Banyuwangi, which has successfully developed various entrepreneurial-based business units. This study applied a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were purposively selected, consisting of the pesantren leader (Kiai), foundation board, business unit managers, teachers involved in entrepreneurship curriculum, as well as students and alumni representatives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation, and audio-visual analysis. Data analysis employed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model with source, method, and observer triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings reveal that the leadership of the Kiai in Darussalam has evolved into a hybrid entrepreneurial-religious leadership, combining religious authority with modern entrepreneurial management. Key findings include: (1) integration of Islamic values in business management, (2) pesantren curriculum functioning as an entrepreneurship incubator for students and alumni, and (3) adoption of digitalization in pesantren businesses. The contribution of this research is to develop a hybrid entrepreneurial-religious leadership model (Kiai-preneurs), analyzing the specific practices of Koppontren Ausath, BLK Darussalam, and DASSCO as concrete evidence of the transformation of the pesantren economy through religious authority and modern entrepreneurial management

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competence of teachers in applying Islamic storytelling methods at ABA Nyai Ahmad Dahlan Kindergarten as part of early childhood Islamic character formation. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that teachers possess a solid understanding of Islamic values and are able to integrate these values effectively into the stories they convey. They demonstrate skills in composing stories, selecting appropriate supporting media such as hand puppets, books, and videos, and using voice intonation to maintain children’s attention. Children’s responses to this method were highly positive, reflected in their enthusiasm during storytelling sessions and observable improvements in attitudes after the stories. Despite these strengths, the study identified several challenges, including limited teaching aids, less conducive classroom conditions, and minimal formal training opportunities for teachers. Nevertheless, teachers show strong commitment to enhancing their storytelling competence through self-reflection, sharing best practices with colleagues, and independently seeking additional learning resources. This study concludes that teachers’ competence in Islamic storytelling plays a significant role in supporting the formation of children’s character. To optimize this contribution, continuous professional development and adequate institutional support are necessary. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the systematic development of Islamic character education in early childhood education programs.

Abstract

This study evaluates how axiological values in Islamic education—such as worship, ihsan, amanah, and rahmatan lil-‘alamin—are operationalized in shaping the character of elementary school students. The main objective of this study is to explain the mechanism of value internalization and identify factors that strengthen the effectiveness of character education in the context of Islamic institutions. Using a library research approach with thematic analysis, this study collects and reviews the latest scientific sources, including peer-reviewed articles, academic books, and curriculum documents, to formulate a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between axiology and educational practice. The results of the study reveal that the internalization of values is most effective when values are presented through experience-based learning, consistent habituation, and school activities oriented towards manners. Teacher role modeling emerges as the main medium that bridges the concept of values with the actual behavior of students, while a value-based school culture forms an ecosystem that allows values to become habitus. The synergy between schools, families, and communities has been proven to strengthen the continuity of values education outside the classroom. The discussion shows that the contribution of this study lies in the explicit integration between the axiological framework of Islamic education and character-building practices, an area that has been under-discussed in previous studies. In conclusion, successful Islamic education is education that is able to present values as life experiences, not just normative instructions. This study offers implications for the development of value-based curricula and the improvement of teacher competence as moral models. Further research needs to examine the internalization of values in the digital context and develop evaluative instruments that are more sensitive to changes in student character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing parents' preferences in choosing MTsN 2 Mandailing Natal as an educational institution for their children, and how these preferences reflect the community's orientation toward religion-based education. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with 30 parents who chose MTsN 2 as a school for their children. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, where informants were selected based on certain criteria relevant to the research focus. Data analysis was conducted using interactive qualitative analysis techniques, through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that parents' preferences for MTsN 2 Mandailing Natal are not only based on religious reasons, but also on academic factors, teacher role models, student discipline, and the safety of the school environment. Most parents chose MTsN 2 because of the religious values taught at the madrasah, which are considered to help shape children's character and morals. In addition, parents feel that MTsN 2 is better able to maintain discipline and protect their children from negative influences often found in public schools. These findings illustrate that parental preferences are more complex and based on a more holistic combination of rational and social factors. This research contributes to the development of Islamic education theory by emphasizing the importance of balancing academic education and religious-based character development in educational institutions. The practical implication of these findings is the importance for madrasah administrators to continuously improve the quality of educational services, focusing not only on academic aspects but also on character development and strengthening religious values.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis demands educational interventions capable of fostering ecological awareness and sustainable behavior. This study aims to analyze the integration of eco-theological values into Islamic Religious Education at SMPN 11 Makassar, an Adiwiyata (eco-friendly) school. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis with teachers, students, and school administrators. The findings show that Islamic Education teachers integrate eco-theological values by linking Qur’anic verses with environmental issues, applying project-based learning, and modeling environmentally responsible behavior. These values are also embedded in key subjects such as aqidah, fiqh, and akhlak, and are reinforced by school policies and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The main challenges, students’ inconsistent behavior outside school and limited facilities, are addressed through partnerships and participatory programs. In conclusion, the eco-theological approach in Islamic Religious Education offers a contextual, values-based model for sustainability education that can be replicated in other school settings.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of digital technologies into the development of a humanistic pesantren curriculum aimed at strengthening 21st-century competencies. The primary objective is to examine how digital tools can enhance the learning experience in pesantren while preserving Islamic educational values. The research follows a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, utilizing frameworks like Social Cognitive Theory, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Institutional Theory to analyze existing studies from Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, and global perspectives on digital integration in Islamic education. The methodology involves synthesizing findings from a wide range of quantitative and qualitative studies, focusing on the challenges and benefits of digital technology in religious educational settings. The analysis identifies key themes such as digital leadership, technology adoption, and the integration of 21st-century skills like creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Notably, the findings reveal that while digital tools have enhanced engagement and academic outcomes, there remains a significant gap in understanding their long-term impact on students' religious identity and moral development. The integration of technology must align with Islamic values to ensure that it complements, rather than undermines, the core principles of religious education. This review offers a novel perspective by proposing a holistic curriculum model that balances technology with religious teachings. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies to assess the long-term impact of technology on students' spiritual growth, as well as develop context-specific theoretical frameworks that address the unique challenges of digital integration in Islamic education. The findings underscore the importance of culturally grounded curriculum and policy development for sustainable digital transformation in Islamic education.
