Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought changes to the world of education. Gadgets and the internet are effective media used during online learning. Students at SMA Negeri 1 Galang have become accustomed to using devices and various learning applications. Gadgets become something valuable and a necessity. The purpose of this study is to see the extent of the habitus of using devices after online learning for Class XII students of SMAN Negeri 1 Galang TP. 2023/2024. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The results showed that the use of gadgets during online learning changed the informants' interaction patterns with technology. Habits in the use of gadgets have an influence on the lives of informants and form new habits. In addition, schools and families as arenas (fields) participate in shaping the habitus of using gadgets. Providing gadgets is done without planning and equipping students with strong digital literacy. Meanwhile, in power relations, students dominate teachers and parents in the use of devices. The use of devices after online learning supports students' social capital, making it easier to interact and build friendship networks. Gadgets also become symbolic capital for students, where the model, brand and price of gadgets become a reference for students to be said to be “cool”. Gadgets as cultural capital show that students who are able to use various applications and utilize gadgets for learning and positive things are considered smarter by their friends. Meanwhile, gadgets as economic capital show that students are able to utilize gadgets as a tool to earn money and transact online. After online learning, the habitus of using gadgets is more used for games, social media, shopping and online transactions than for learning activities

Abstract

This study examines the evolving roles of mothers in facilitating their children's education within Indonesia's Kurikulum Merdeka.  This curriculum prioritizes student autonomy, personalized learning, and less reliance on strict instruction, hence raising the expectation for mothers to offer both academic assistance and emotional support at home.  The study employs a qualitative method rooted on a phenomenological paradigm, utilizing in-depth interviews with purposefully selected participants to explore how mothers navigate the tensions between autonomy and guidance.  The findings underscore their crucial responsibilities in promoting autonomous learning while managing dialectical challenges, such as the balance between control and freedom, as well as emotional intimacy and children's increasing independence. Additionally, technology has emerged as both a facilitator and an obstacle, transforming family communication and educational practices.  The research illustrates the cultural, emotional, and logistical difficulties put on mothers and proposes pragmatic solutions, such as digital literacy workshops, community-oriented support networks, and fair access to educational resources.  These findings aim to enhance the overarching theoretical discussion on relational dialectics and provide practical solutions to augment family involvement in education within changing educational environments.

Abstract

This study investigates the legibility of children’s content on YouTube, examining how it is presented, created, and consumed within the context of participatory parenting and Youtube algorithm. Using Jürgen Habermas' public sphere framework, the research explores how digital platforms like YouTube shape participatory media practices, particularly in producing accessible and developmentally appropriate content for young audiences. The study adopts a purposive sampling method, by selecting videos based on YouTube’s algorithmic recommendations to simulate the user experience and exploring how the algorithm presents what they deemed as children content. Then, YouTube API is used to provide a broader overview of children’s content trends, while visual content analysis examines the visual and narrative elements that contribute to content legibility. Findings reveal that while YouTube serves as a collaborative affinity space for children’s content, promoting informal learning and interaction, its algorithm-driven and commercialized nature often undermines content authenticity and diversity, raising concerns about its alignment with children’s cognitive and developmental needs. The study underscores the importance of enhancing the legibility of children’s content in Youtube’s affordances to ensure it is engaging, educational, and appropriate for its intended audience.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has made social media more accessible, facilitating digital interactions that shape mindsets and perspectives. However, social media development has also had negative societal impacts. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data is obtained through the analysis of Qur'anic texts, interpretations, scholarly opinions, and other literature, focusing on narcissistic attitudes (tabarruj) and legal perspectives, as well as offering solutions to narcissistic behavior on social media platforms. The study aims to analyze how Muslim women present themselves on TikTok, identify manifestations of digital narcissism, examine the social, psychological, and cultural factors influencing this behavior, provide an Islamic perspective on tabarruj in the context of social media, and suggest solutions for more mindful digital engagement. Using a qualitative approach, this research investigates Qur’anic interpretations, scholarly discussions, and various literature related to digital narcissism. The findings indicate that digital narcissism among Muslim women on TikTok is reflected in behaviors such as excessive self-presentation, seeking validation through likes, comments, and followers, and the influence of social media aesthetics in shaping identity. Factors contributing to this behavior include the impact of popular culture, social pressures, and psychological dependence on external validation, which can ultimately diminish self-confidence. Therefore, raising awareness through education is essential to preserving Islamic identity in the digital era. It is hoped that social media users, particularly Muslim women, will be more selective in creating and consuming content while prioritizing moral values and simplicity in online interactions.

Abstract

The research results show that the recitation program is effective in increasing Islamic knowledge, such as fiqh, recitation and morals, as well as building student character based on the values ??of tolerance and pluralism. However, there are obstacles related to facilities and infrastructure, as well as variations in teaching methods that need to be improved. The research conclusion states that this program is relevant to student needs and supports the university's vision of building an Islamic-based intellectual generation. This program strengthens students' ability to read the Koran and basic understanding of religion, although it still requires improvement in aspects of implementation and ongoing evaluation. The research recommends developing interactive learning methods, improving facilities, and further training for presenters. Implementation of further programs such as preacher training and student study communities is also proposed to strengthen the sustainability of the program's impact.
