Abstract

Indonesia has high exposure to sunlight which can cause skin problems such as hyperpigmentation. Treatment of hyperpigmentation with hydroquinone can cause side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to develop antihyperpigmentation products from natural ingredients to minimize these side effects. Berenuk leaves (Crescentia cujete Linn) have antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 80.21 µg/ml in ethanol extract. This antioxidant compound can be used to treat hyperpigmentation problems. In its use, Berenuk Leaf Ethanol Extract (BLEE) is formulated in a cream dosage form. Cremophor RH40 is a type of nonionic surfactant that can affect the physical stability of cream. This study aims to determine the effect of Cremophor RH40 on the physical stability of cream preparations and their antihyperpigmentation activity. Cream preparations were made with varying concentrations of Cremophor RH40 5% (F1), 10% (F2), 15% (F3). Physical stability evaluation was tested using the cycling test method. Data were analyzed statistically with paired samples t-test. Analysis of antihyperpigmentation test data in the form of the amount of melanin in all test groups was analyzed for differences using Kruskal Wallis and continued with the Mann-Whitney test. BLEE cream’s physical stability test result show that the most stable formula is formula 1 because it is stable up to the 5th cycle. in contrast, formula 2 only goes up to the 3rd cycle, and formula 3 in the first cycle has experienced 2-phase separation. BLEE cream (F1) has antihyperpigmentation activity because it has an average melanin intensity less than the negative and positive controls.

Abstract

ABTRACT Lips are a sensitive part of the face, unlike other skin which has protection, lips do not have protection. When the air is too hot or too cold, lips become dry, chapped, and painful. Therefore, you need an alternative to care for your lips, namely by using lip balm or lip moisturizer made from natural ingredients. A natural ingredient that is rich in antioxidants is coppeng fruit (Syzigium cumini). Anthocyanin compounds, phenolic acids, flavonoids and tannins of coppeng fruit (Syzigium cumini) are active compounds that function as antioxidants. Therefore, lip balm is made from coppeng fruit as an antioxidant to treat lip problems. The aim of this research is to determine the physical properties and at what concentration the coppeng fruit extract (Syzigium cumini) lip balm preparation functions as an antioxidant agent, whether F1, F2 or F3. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH method. The results of the research showed that in the organoleptic test F0, F1, F2 and F3 met the requirements, namely semi-solid dosage form, the color of F1 was light purple, F2, F3 was dark purple and had a distinctive vanilla aroma. All preparations showed homogeneous results. The average pH test of the preparation was 5.25, the average adhesion test was 5.76/second, the irritation test on F0, F1, F2 and F3 did not irritate all respondents and the most preferred hedonic test was F1. In the antioxidant activity test, the IC50 value for F1 was 86.63989 µ/ml in the strong category, F2 was 49.3719 in the µ/ml category and F3 was 4.603502 in the very strong category. Abstract

Indonesia is a country that ranks 5th out of 10 countries with the highest number of diabetics in the world. One of the plants that can be used as an antidiabetic is the fruit of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.). This study aims to determine the physical quality of wuluh star fruit juice yogurt and determine at what concentration wuluh star fruit juice yogurt can affect blood sugar levels of mice (Mus musculus). Mice as test animals were induced glucose and compared its effectiveness with acarbose. In this study, 5 treatment groups were used, namely giving yogurt without juice (negative control), acarbose (positive control), 0.35 ml star fruit juice yogurt, 0.50 ml star fruit juice yogurt, and 0.65 ml star fruit juice yogurt. Blood glucose measurement was done for 3 days. The results showed that star fruit juice can be formulated in the form of yogurt, and meet the standards of good physical stability, namely organoleptic test, pH, and viscosity. In the antidiabetic test, the results showed that all concentrations could affect the blood sugar levels of mice, with a decrease of 90 mg/dl at a concentration of 0.35 ml, a decrease of 92 mg/dl at a concentration of 0.50 ml, and a decrease of 100 mg/dL at a concentration of 0.65 ml. It was concluded that the most effective concentration to affect the blood sugar levels of mice was a concentration of 0.65 ml with a decrease of 100 mg/dl.

Abstract

Skin infectious diseases in humans are a very frequent type of disease, in the human population there are about 30% colonized by Staphylococcus aureus. The skin is the main defense against bacteria if the skin is no longer protected, it will be very easily infected with bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and many other small groups such as Rickettsia, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia.waru plants (Hibiscus tiliaceus L) contain saponins, flavanoids, polyphenols and triterpenoid compounds. The purpose of the study was to determine the physical quality of the waru leaf extract liquid soap formula and to determine which waru leaf extract liquid soap formula has the best inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This type of research is an experimental method. The physical quality test of liquid soap showed that the liquid soap was stable. Testing antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method, the results obtained by the clear zone in F1 show an average value of 25.75, F2 shows an average value of 19.4, and in F3 shows 30.4. From this study, good results were obtained on the physical quality of waru leaf extract liquid soap preparations in all formulas. Of the three best formulas, F3 and provides the greatest antibacterial effect with an average inhibition zone of 30.4 with a very strong category. Abstract

Background: Earthworm extract (Lumbricus rubellus) has antimicrobial activity because it produces high levels of the lumbricine compound but is easily denatured in the stomach so that its solubility and biological activity change. Therefore its Application can be developed in the form of gastrorentetif mucoadhesive preparation. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to optimize and evaluate the antibacterial activity of gastroretentive mucoadhesive preparation matrix of earthworm extract (Lumbricus rubellus). Material and Methods: The matrix utilized a preparatory technique of applying wet granulation mucoadhesive polymers such as chitosan, HPMC, and sodium CMC with concentrations determined based on simple lattice design resulting in 7 granule formulas. The granule formulas obtained were then evaluated including flow time and dwell angle tests, particle size distribution tests, compressibility tests, dissolution tests, and antibacterial activity tests. Results: The results showed that the flow rate on the F3 granule formulation met the requirements of flow rate >10 g/s, a consequence of measuring the angle of repose in the F1-F5 formula had good flowability which was below 30o, in contrast to F6 and F7 which had an angle of repose of 30-40o favorable to flowability. The F1-F7 formula was mostly preserved in mesh number 20 sieve with a size of 426-850 ?m, according to the results of particle size distribution utilizing the multistage sieve method, the compressibility index of the F1-F7 granule formula was 10% and the measurement results at the 30 minute showed that the average dissolution of the F1-F3 granules was 97.77%, 97.77%, and 101.22% respectively while the F4-F7 granule formulas did not show slow drug release because at the 30th minute the drug released ranged and the antibacterial activity test of Formula 1-Formula 7 granules is respectively 6 mm, 5.5 mm, 8 mm, 3.5 mm, 4.7 mm, 2.1 mm and 3.3 mm. Conclusions: The results of the evaluation of the characteristics of earthworm extract mucoadhesive gastroretentive granule preparation demonstrated that the preparation met the requirements for granule preparation and exhibited antibacterial properties. Among the seven formulas tested, formula 3 had the highest efficacy of antibacterial activity.

Abstract

?-mangostin (?-MG) is a metabolite of xanthones isolated from fruit of Garcinia mangostana Linn pericarps. Skin cancer is one of the most common malignancies affecting many people. The development of skin cancer is mainly due to intermittent or long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation resulting in reduced cell-mediated immune response, production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and DNA changes. Increased levels of ROS can induce the production of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). ?-MG showing potential as an anti-metastatic agent with reduced the expression of MMP-1. This study aims to determine the affinity and stability profiles of ?-MG as anti-skin cancer by applying the In-Silico method. Molecular simulation of ?-MG was successfully docked to the MMP-1. ?-MG showed stable results after 100 ns molecular dynamics simulation based on the root mean square deviation (RMSD) and the root mean squared fluctuation (RMSF). The binding energies of the xanthone derivatives were calculated using the MM/PBSA method.

Abstract

Terapi antihipertensi merupakan salah satu terapi preventif yang diterima pasien stroke terutama pasien stroke iskemik. Terapi antihipertensi yang tidak tepat pada pasien stroke, dapat menyebabkan perburukan kondisi pasien. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji ketepatan penggunaan obat antihipertensi pada pasien stroke di RSUD Dr. Rasidin Padang periode tahun 2021, yang meliputi, tepat indikasi, tepat pasien, tepat obat, tepat dosis,dan tepat rute pemberian obat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif observasional dengan pengambilan data secara retrospektif dari data rekam medis pasien. Kriteria inklusi pada penelitian ini adalah pasien rawat jalan yang didiagnosa stroke disertai hipertensi dengan atau tanpa komplikasi penyakit lain yang mendapatkan terapi antihipertensi. Ketepatan penggunaan obat antihipertensi dilakukan secara deskriptif, dengan cara membandingkan data yang didapat dengan rujukan yang digunakan, meliputi JNC VIII, Guideline Stroke yang dikeluarkan oleh PERDOSSI tahun 2011 serta Formularium Rumah Sakit RSUD Dr. Rasidin Padang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketepatan indikasi dan pasien sebanyak 60 pasien atau 100%, ketepatan penggunaan obat adalah sebanyak 57 pasien atau 95%, ketepatan penggunaan dosis adalah 100% serta ketepatan rute pemberian obat adalah sebanyak 60 pasien atau 100%. Jenis ketidaktepatan yang ditemukan adalah pemilihan kombinasi antihipertensi yang tidak tepat yaitu penggunaan kombinasi obat dari golongan yang sama. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah perlunya evaluasi penggunaan obat oleh apoteker untuk meningkatkan ketepatan penggunaan obat di RSUD Dr. Rasidin Padang.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan tanaman obat di masyarakat pada Etnis Ende, Lio, Nataia, dan Dhawe telah dikenal sejak jaman dahulu kala. Saat ini pelestarian tanaman obat masih harus diperhatikan karena seiring perkembangan zaman ditakutkan pengetahuan mengenai penggunaan tanaman obat akan berkurang dan hilang. Penelitian kali ini dilakukan untuk menggali informasi pada masyarakat pada Etnis Ende, Lio, Nataia, Dhawe mengenai jenis tanaman, cara pengolahan, dan khasiat dari tanaman dalam pengobatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah menggunakan cara observasi kepada masyarakat etnis tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil yang di dapat terdapat 60 jenis tanaman dari keempat Etnis yang sering digunakan dalam pengobatan, ini terbagi atas 18 jenis tanaman yang sama dan 42 jenis tanaman yang berbeda. Adapun jenis penyakit yang sering memanfaatkan tanaman dalam pengobatan pada masyarakat adalah demam, panas dalam, keputihan, perut kembung, sakit perut, maag, pendarahan, hipertensi, hipotensi, luka bakar, anemia, terlambat haid, keseleo, nyeri haid, mata ikan, gigitan binatang, sakit gigi, sariawan, rheumatic, amandel, dan ambeien, dan cara pengolahan tanaman obat yang paling banyak digunakan adalah dengan cara direbus. Tanaman khas daerah yang banyak digunakan dalam pengobatan pada etnis tersebut diantaranya adalah Sterculia quadrifida (Faloak), Lannea Coromandelia (Kudo), Azadirachta Indica (Mimba).

Abstract

Kopi robusta (Coffea canephora) ialah salah satu jenis kopi yang bayak dibudidayakan diIndonesia serta mempunyai posisi menonjol sebagai salah satu komoditas unggulan.Biji kopi diketahui mengandung sejumlah besar komponen antioksidan sepertiflavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, serta polifenol. Senyawa ini mempunyai sifat antiinflamasi yang terbukti efektif dalam pengobatan berbagai jenis luka. Riset inibermaksud menilai efektivitas salep yang mengandung ekstrak biji kopi robusta padakonsentrasi yang bervariasi untuk tujuan penyembuhan luka pada luka sayat. Jenis risetini ialah eksperimental. Formulasi salep dibuat menggunakan ekstrak biji kopi Robusta.Riset ini memanfaatkan tiga hewan uji serta lima kelompok perlakuan yang meliputisalep dengan kandungan ekstrak biji kopi Robusta 20%, 30%, serta 40%, kontrol positif,serta kontrol negatif. Semua kelinci diberikan luka sepanjang 2 cm serta kedalaman 0,1cm. Salep yang diuji dioleskan dua kali sehari pada luka selama dua minggu. Seluruhdata kuantitatif diuji secara statistic menggunakan ANOVA (Analysis Of Varian).Temuan riset memperlihatkan pada hari ke-8 dan ke-9, luka pada kontrol positif dankonsentrasi 40% sudah menutup dan tidak terdapat keropeng. Hasil uji statistikmemperlihatkan salep ekstrak biji kopi robusta berpengaruh terhadap parameterpanjang luka pada kelinci yaitu sebesar 0,003 (p?0,05). Berlandaskan temuan riset,disimpulkan bahwa formulasi salep ekstrak biji kopi Robusta menciptakan sediaanyang memenuhi kriteria serta konsentrasi yang ditentukan yakni signifikasi untukkonsentrasi 20% terhadap kontrol negatif sebesar 0.041, nilai signifikasi konsentrasi 30%terhadap kontrol negatif sebesar 0.039 dan nilai signifikasi konsentrasi 40% terhadapkontrol negatif sebesar 0.001 memberikan efektivitas dalam mempercepat prosespenyembuhan luka sayatan pada kelinci.

Abstract

Kanker payudara merupakan penyakit keganasan pada jaringan payudara yang dapat berasal dari epitel duktus maupun lobulusnya. Terapi kanker payudara dapat dilakukan dengan beberapa macam terapi, salah satunya adalah kemoterapi. Efek samping kemoterapi yang paling umum adalah mielosupresi yaitu penurunan kadar sel darah karena agen kemoterapi bersifat toksik terhadap organ pembentuk darah. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengaruh kemoterapi dalam menurunkan kadar sel darah pasien kanker payudara yang menerima kemoterapi di RSUD dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan periode Juli 2022 sampai Juni 2023. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan desain cross-sectional. Dari 82 sampel, pasien dengan kadar eritrosit dibawah normal sebanyak 50 pasien (60%); hemoglobin 79 pasien (96%); hematokrit 75 pasien (91%); neutrofil 20 pasien (24%); leukosit 25 pasien (30%); dan trombosit 7 pasien (9%). Kadar hematologi di bawah normal paling banyak adalah hemoglobin dan hematokrit
