Abstract

This study investigates the application of Lean Education strategies to optimize governance and resource resilience within Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia. The primary objective is to examine how Lean principles such as waste elimination, efficiency improvement, and value creation can enhance operational performance and educational quality. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using a multiple case study design across three private higher education institutions in Lampung: STIT Darul Ishlah Tulang Bawang, IAI Tulang Bawang, and STIES Darul Huda Mesuji. The research identified critical operational wastes (muda), including academic overproduction, administrative waiting times, and uncoordinated transportation inefficiencies. Crucially, this study highlights the unique integration of traditional Islamic boarding school (pesantren) values, such as barakah (blessing), ihsan (excellence), and istiqamah (consistency), into the Lean framework. The findings reveal that Lean Education can be effectively sustained through transformational hybrid leadership, cost-effective technology adoption, and dynamic, lived Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The proposed adaptive model demonstrated substantial empirical performance improvements, including a 45% reduction in academic process lead times and a 25% increase in value-added operational activities. This study provides valuable practical and theoretical insights for higher education administrators seeking to optimize resource management without compromising spiritual and institutional cultural identity.

Abstract

This study conceptualizes adolescent prayer mentoring as a structured pedagogical technology for spiritual human capital formation and examines its relevance for psychosocial and non-military resilience. Methodologically, it employs qualitative library research with a normative-conceptual orientation supported by a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data were collected from peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and institutional reports on adolescent spirituality, Islamic pedagogy, prayer practices, character formation, spiritual capital, human capital, psychosocial resilience, and non-military resilience. Literature was traced through Scopus Preview, DOAJ, and Google Scholar using keywords such as “adolescent prayer mentoring,” “Islamic pedagogy,” “religious pedagogy,” “spiritual human capital,” “self-regulation,” “meaning-making,” “social empathy,” and “non-military resilience.” The initial search identified more than 120 sources. After screening for relevance, conceptual clarity, and contribution to the proposed framework, 47 studies were retained, and 32 core sources were selected for synthesis. Data analysis followed the SLR stages of identification, screening, selection, classification, and conceptual synthesis. The selected literature was organized into four analytical themes: prayer as Islamic pedagogical formation, prayer mentoring and value internalization, spirituality–psychosocial resilience–character formation, and spiritual human capital–non-military resilience. Findings show that prayer mentoring operates through bodily and spiritual habituation, reflective dialogue, moral exemplarity, emotional regulation, autonomous value internalization, meaning in life, and social empathy. These mechanisms transform prayer from private ritual observance into spiritual human capital for sustainable, resilient civic life. The article proposes the pathway: prayer mentoring → self-regulation → meaning in life → social empathy → spiritual human capital → non-military resilience.

Abstract

Islamic education has an important role in forming religious, tolerant, and inclusive students in the midst of the challenges of radicalism and social diversity. This study aims to analyze the leadership strategy of the head of Madrasah Aliyah Hidayatul Mubtadiin Jati Agung in internalizing the values of religious moderation, including the understanding of madrasah heads towards moderation in the local context, implementation strategies in the curriculum, school culture, and religious habits, parties involved as well as supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the influence of strategies on the formation of a tolerant and inclusive madrasah culture. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Primary data was obtained from madrasah heads, teachers, education staff, and students, while secondary data was obtained from institutional documents, madrasah programs, disciplines, and activity documentation. The research was carried out at MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin Jati Agung, South Lampung. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles et al.'s interactive model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The results of the study show that madrasah heads understand religious moderation as a religious attitude that is balanced, tolerant, anti-violent, and relevant to local social diversity. The internalization strategy is carried out through the integration of moderation values in learning, strengthening school culture, religious habituation, teacher capacity development, and collaboration with religious leaders, KUA, FKUB, and the community. Supporting factors include the commitment of the madrasah head, teacher involvement, community support, and the religious culture of the madrasah, while the inhibiting factors include differences in student understanding, limited literacy moderation, and the influence of the external environment. This strategy has an impact on the formation of a madrasah culture that is more dialogical, tolerant, inclusive, and responsive to the prevention of radicalism.

Abstract

technology for history education within museum environments. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was performed following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to promote transparency and replicability. Following a rigorous screening process of 158 initial records, a final corpus of 16 high-quality empirical articles indexed in Scopus Q1 and Q2 journals published between 2019 and 2024 was selected for qualitative thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that while immersive tools, such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), have the potential to enhance learners' historical empathy and cognitive retention, their efficacy within Global South landscapes such as Yogyakarta is highly contingent upon a critical decolonial calibration of the socio-technical subsystem to safeguard local epistemologies against Western-centric digital biases; consequently, these technologies do not constitute a panacea for pedagogical challenges. The primary obstacle identified is the alignment gap between technological affordances and instructional design: while immersive hardware has reached technical maturity, pedagogical integration frameworks in museum environments remain underdeveloped. In terms of practical and social implications, this study underscores that professional focus must shift from mere technological novelty toward systemic staff development and the structural weaving of digital tools into the existing history curriculum. Ultimately, optimising these interactive learning spaces provides a sustainable, decolonised digital heritage roadmap that empowers regional educators and curators to integrate global technological innovations while firmly anchoring the social subsystem within localised epistemologies; this adaptive framework ensures that historical consciousness is fostered and cultural transmission is safeguarded within regional centres such as Yogyakarta without succumbing to Western-centric technological biases in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of principal leadership style and academic supervision on teachers’ professional competence in public elementary schools in Patean District, Kendal Regency. Employing a quantitative approach with an ex post facto survey design, data were collected from 149 teachers selected through proportional random sampling from a total population of 237 teachers across public elementary schools in Patean District. The primary data source consisted of teachers’ responses to validated Likert-scale questionnaires measuring three variables: principal leadership style, academic supervision, and teachers’ professional competence. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26, including Pearson product-moment correlation to assess the strength of relationships between variables, simple linear regression to determine the individual effect of each independent variable, and multiple linear regression to examine the simultaneous influence of both variables on teachers’ professional competence. Hypothesis testing was performed at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results revealed that principal leadership style had a significant positive influence on teachers’ professional competence, contributing 75.0% of the variance. Academic supervision also demonstrated a significant positive effect, accounting for 70.9% of the variance in teachers’ professional competence. Simultaneously, principal leadership style and academic supervision explained 81.2% of the variance in teachers’ professional competence, indicating a very strong and statistically significant combined effect. These findings emphasize the importance of effective school leadership and continuous academic supervision in strengthening teachers’ professional competence, improving instructional quality, and supporting sustainable educational development in elementary schools.
