Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the Arabic Language Education (PBA) curriculum at Universitas KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah (UNWAHA), with reference to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), and to formulate revitalization strategies that are adaptive to the demands of the industrial world and the developments in contemporary scholarship. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach within a case study type of evaluative study design. Data were collected through curriculum document analysis and review of the Semester Learning Plans (RPS), in-depth interviews with six lecturers responsible for core courses, and observations of instructional practices in three different classes. The research subjects consisted of sixth-semester students, while the data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytic methods. The study finds that while the Arabic Language Education curriculum aligns normatively with KKNI level 6 outcomes, several implementation issues remain. These include mismatches between CPL and RPS indicators, limited integration of 21st-century skills, overreliance on teacher-centered methods, low use of digital technologies, and weak stakeholder involvement. To address these, proposed strategies include reformulating graduate profiles based on global and local job market needs, developing RPS using Outcome-Based Education (OBE), improving lecturers’ digital teaching skills, and establishing a collaborative forum with stakeholders such as pesantren, translation agencies, and Islamic media. This reform is urgent to produce graduates who are adaptive, competent, and relevant to current professional demands.

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the learning outcomes in calculating the qibla direction using the cosine and sine formulas of spherical triangles in the Constitutional Law class of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This research employs a mixed-method approach, combining descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods through a case study conducted in the Law class. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with a dichotomous scale. The collected data includes information before and after the lecture on calculating the qibla direction, which utilises the cosine and sine formulas of spherical triangles. Furthermore, changes in data before and after the lecture are analysed based on the level of change in the responses to the questionnaires completed by students. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it was found that many students lacked comprehensive knowledge about the direction of the qibla before the lectures, both from a fiqh and a mathematical perspective. Following the lectures, a significant change occurred in the understanding of this qibla direction, which, mathematically, increased by 65.77%. Meanwhile, in terms of calculation skills for determining the qibla direction, before the lectures were held, only a small fraction of the students stated they could calculate the qibla direction for both areas in Indonesia and outside Indonesia. After the lectures, there was a significant change of 74.32% expressing their ability to calculate the qibla direction for areas in Indonesia, as well as outside Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the extent to which the principle of gender equality has been integrated in Islamic Religious Education textbooks at the elementary school level. The focus of the analysis is on the representation of the roles of men and women in the teaching materials used in the independent curriculum. The main data in this study are six Islamic Religious Education and Budi Pekerti textbooks for Grades 1 to 6, published by the Center for Curriculum and Bookkeeping, Research and Development, and Bookkeeping Agency, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. These books include Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary School Grade 1 by Muhammad Nurzakun and Joko Santoso in 2021, Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary School Grade 2 by A. Zainal Abidin and Siti Kusrini in 2021, and Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary School Grade 3 by Moh. Ghozali and Erwin Wasti in 2022, the book Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary 4 by Ahmad Faozan and Jamaluddin in 2021, the book Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary 5 by Soleh Baedowi and Hairil Muhammad Anwar in 2021, and the book Islamic Religious Education and Ethics for Primary 6 by Nazirwan and Kholili Abdullah in 2022. This research uses a qualitative method with content analysis of the text and illustrations of Islamic Religious Education textbooks. The results of this study show a consistent pattern of gender bias, where male characters are dominant in religious and social roles, while female characters tend to be passive and limited to domestic roles. So then it is necessary to reformulate the content of the textbook to be more responsive to gender, in order to realize a fair Islamic education in accordance with the value of rahmatan lil 'alamin.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of learning media in the form of short videos and e-booklets in improving students' understanding of traffic safety among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Samarinda. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method and a pre-test and post-test control group design. Data were collected through comprehension tests administered before and after the intervention, supplemented by interviews, observations, and documentation as primary data. Additionally, secondary data were gathered through relevant literature reviews to strengthen the theoretical foundation and analysis. The population in this study consisted of 871 students, and 60 students were selected as samples using purposive sampling. The samples were divided into two equal groups, the first group using short video media and the second group using e-booklet media in learning. Data were analyzed using the Liliefors normality test and the Independent Samples T-Test. The results of the study indicate that both media contribute positively to improving student understanding. Although the difference between the two media is not statistically significant, the average understanding score of students in the short video group is higher than that of the e-booklet group. Thus, it can be concluded that short video media tends to be more effective in practice in improving students' understanding of traffic safety compared to e-booklets. Therefore, teachers and educators are advised to optimize the use of short videos as an attractive, concise, and interactive learning medium.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the variables from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model that influence e-learning acceptance among lecturers at State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) in East Java. Employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, the study tested a theoretical model using hypothesis-driven analysis. Data were collected through online questionnaires with a simple random sampling technique, involving 321 lecturers as respondents. Responses were measured using a five-point Likert scale, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis. The findings show that effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, habits, and behavioral intentions significantly influence lecturers’ acceptance of e-learning. Conversely, performance expectancy and social influence do not show significant effects. Behavioral intention also mediates the positive effect of facilitating conditions and habits on actual e-learning use. Although this study focuses on two PTKIN institutions in East Java, limiting generalizability, it provides useful insights for higher education management. The results have practical implications for designing effective strategies and policies to enhance e-learning adoption, such as lecturer training, awareness campaigns, periodic system reviews, and supportive policy development. E-learning offers solutions to overcome limitations of conventional teaching and enhances access, monitoring, and skill development, contributing to the improved performance of PTKIN. This research also validates the UTAUT model in a new cultural and institutional setting, expanding its relevance for future studies on technology acceptance in education.
