Abstract

This study investigates the influence of principal leadership and teacher professional competence on the quality of public elementary schools in Sumber District, Rembang Regency. Using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design, data were collected through validated questionnaires from 147 elementary school teachers selected via proportional random sampling from a population of 233 teachers across 25 schools. Data analysis employed SPSS 25 for Windows, including Pearson correlation, simple and multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²), all preceded by assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity). The results show that both principal leadership and teacher professional competence are significantly and strongly correlated with school quality (r = 0.623 and r = 0.606, respectively). Principal leadership explains 38.8% of the variation in school quality, while teacher professional competence contributes 36.7%. Combined, both variables account for 48.3% of the variance. The regression model confirms that improvements in both leadership and professional competence positively and significantly affect school quality. These findings highlight the essential role of effective leadership and teacher competence in enhancing educational outcomes. Therefore, systematic capacity-building for school leaders and continuous professional development for teachers are crucial strategies. This research contributes to empirical understanding and offers practical insights for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders in formulating targeted interventions to improve school quality in primary education settings.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the pedagogical and linguistic dimensions of teacher-initiated code-switching, including its contributions to classroom interaction, students’ comprehension, and language acquisition. Employing a qualitative research design with a literature review approach, this study systematically synthesizes findings from ten selected peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025. The analysis covers multiple aspects such as situational, interpersonal, intersentential, and intrasentential code-switching, as well as the motivations and outcomes associated with such practices. The findings show that code-switching serves both linguistic and pedagogical functions. Linguistically, it facilitates students' understanding of complex grammatical or abstract concepts. Pedagogically, it improves participation, reduces language anxiety, and fosters an inclusive classroom environment. Additionally, teachers’ language choice is influenced by factors such as students’ language proficiency, social context, instructional goals, and teachers’ teaching styles. These insights contribute to the ongoing discourse on bilingual education and offer practical implications for improving classroom strategies and teacher training in EFL contexts.

Abstract

This article highlights the attitude towards insults based on 1 Peter 3:9 in the context of the passage 1 Peter 3:8–12. This study is a qualitative library research using a socio-rhetorical hermeneutic approach. The primary data source is the biblical text of 1 Peter 3:8–12, supported by related scriptural references and academic literature. Data were collected through document analysis, focusing on textual and contextual interpretation. The data analysis employed Vernon K. Robbins’ socio-rhetorical method, involving five textures: inner texture, intertexture, social and cultural texture, ideological texture, and sacred texture. The results of the study show that the call not to return insult for insult is not only a moral demand, but part of the ethical identity of the Christian community. The values of love, peace, and blessing are presented as an alternative response to social injustice. This study contributes to the understanding of biblical texts and their application in today's social context.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the simultaneous effects of implementing the Mindful, Meaningful, and Joyful Learning (MMJ) approach integrated with the use of interactive multimedia based on information and communication technology (ICT) in enhancing elementary school students' collaboration skills and creativity, specifically at UPT SDN Kebonsari 1 Tuban. To achieve this objective, a quantitative research methodology was employed, enabling the collection of objective, systematic, and measurable data. The target population consisted of all 57 students enrolled at UPT SDN Kebonsari 1 Tuban. Since the total population was less than 100, a total sampling technique was applied, involving the entire population as research subjects to ensure full data representation. Primary data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires and structured observation sheets, designed to capture both students’ observable learning behaviors and their self-reported perceptions of the instructional process. All instruments were validated and tested for reliability prior to data analysis. The collected data were processed using SPSS software and analyzed with multiple linear regression to determine the extent to which the independent variables (MMJ approach and ICT-based multimedia) collectively influence the dependent variables (collaboration and creativity). Findings revealed that the application of the MMJ learning strategy, supported by interactive multimedia technologies, significantly contributes to fostering students’ ability to collaborate effectively and enhances their creative potential during learning activities. These results support the notion that engaging, meaningful, and context-aware instructional designs are not only capable of improving student learning outcomes but also align closely with the development of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of multi-madhhab Sufism within the educational systems of Pesantren Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo and Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong in East Java, employing a qualitative multi-case descriptive approach. Although both institutions formally adhere to the Sufi madhhabs recognized by Nahdlatul Ulama, namely Al-Ghazali and Al-Junaidi, field findings reveal that they organically sustain four madhhabs simultaneously: Al-Ghazali, Al-Junaidi, Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, and Abu Hasan Al-Shadzili. Al-Ghazali dominates the cognitive domain through classical text instruction, while Al-Jailani and Al-Shadzili thrive in the ritual dimension through daily devotional practices (wirid), hagiographic recitations (manaqib), and litanies (shalawat). Al-Junaidi persists as a normative symbol without direct textual implementation, indicating that epistemic legitimacy in pesantren relies not only on textual authority but also on the charismatic authority of the kiai and oral tradition. A key difference lies in their pedagogical orientation: Sukorejo adopts an academic-institutional approach emphasizing dzauq (spiritual experiential awareness), whereas Genggong favors a personal-practical model centered on riyadlah (inner spiritual discipline) and the master-disciple relationship. This integration emerges organically from the interplay of kiai authority, local tradition, and the need for character formation, thereby preserving Sufism's relevance as the core of spiritual education without compromising its epistemic authenticity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Indonesian language learning based on local culture in revitalizing noble values among students at SMPN 1 Cisaat, Sukabumi. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research data, consisting of classroom practices, interview transcripts, and instructional documents, focused on Indonesian language learning activities based on local culture to revitalize noble values among SMPN 1 Cisaat. The main sources of data were Indonesian language teachers and eighth-grade students who were purposively selected. Data were collected using classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, combined through triangulation to enhance validity. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, conducted iteratively throughout the research process. The findings reveal that the integration of noble values such as mutual cooperation, tolerance, honesty, responsibility, and respect into Indonesian language learning is effective in shaping students’ character and strengthening their local cultural identity. The role of the teacher as a facilitator is crucial in the internalization process, although challenges remain, particularly the influence of global culture and limited instructional time. This study highlights the importance of synergy among schools, families, and communities, as well as the need to develop a sustainable, local culture-based curriculum to preserve and revitalize the nation’s noble values.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need for engaging learning media to enhance students’ understanding of fractions in Grade III at SDN 008 Beringin Taluk, Kuantan Singingi. The limited use of local culture-based media has contributed to a decline in learning outcomes below the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). The study aimed to describe the development process, determine the validity, and assess teachers’ and students’ responses to animated video media in mathematics learning. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The population consisted of media experts, material experts, Grade III teachers, and Grade III students. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, totaling nine participants: three experts, three teachers, and three students. The research instruments included questionnaires, with primary data obtained through interviews, observations, and trials, and secondary data collected from relevant documents and literature. Data analysis applied descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods based on the percentage of validation scores. The validation results showed scores of 82% from material experts, 93.3% from media experts, 95% from language experts, and 100% from both teachers and students, all falling into the “highly valid” category. Beyond delivering fraction content, the media also integrates local cultural values such as Pacu Jalur, making the learning process more meaningful. It is concluded that animated video media based on local wisdom are highly feasible as a supporting tool for Grade III mathematics learning and have the potential to preserve local culture through education.
