Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in the national economy, making a significant contribution to economic growth and development. In Indonesia, the presence of MSMEs greatly aids in reducing unemployment caused by limited labor absorption in the formal sector. The number of MSMEs in Indonesia, including in the Sawunggaling sub-district of Surabaya, continues to increase. The Sawunggaling sub-district itself has numerous potentials that can be developed into business activities. Unfortunately, due to limited human resource competencies, the creative spaces available have not been fully utilized by partners. Partners also face difficulties in designing attractive food and beverage packaging. This program aims to optimize existing facilities and provide training to foster entrepreneurial spirit and improve MSME skills in terms of food and beverage packaging design. The activities implemented include enhancing understanding and skills through training that introduces entrepreneurial strategies and product packaging, including incorporating MSME identity into the packaging. The results of the PKM activities show that the PKM target was achieved well, namely an increase in awareness and knowledge among MSME actors in the food and beverage sector in the Sawunggaling sub-district, Surabaya, about the importance of entrepreneurial mindset and product packaging, as well as packaging design ideas that can enhance competitiveness.

Abstract

Improper household waste management can cause environmental pollution and contribute to global warming. Therefore, there is a need for community service activities to provide education on household waste management to the students of SMA Negeri 1 Narmada. The goal of this community service activity is to increase the understanding and awareness of SMA Negeri 1 Narmada students regarding the importance of practical steps in household waste management to prevent environmental pollution and mitigate the impacts of global warming. This activity is carried out through outreach using expository methods, participatory methods, and formative evaluation, where students are introduced to the concepts of 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) and the zero waste movement. The results of the activity show an increase in students' knowledge of the types of household waste and their negative impacts, as well as a better understanding of how to manage waste effectively. This outreach also resulted in positive changes in students' habits, such as separating organic and inorganic waste, using recyclable products, and reducing the use of single-use plastics. The conclusion of this activity is that household waste management outreach has proven effective in raising environmental awareness and can serve as a starting point for creating sustainable behavioral change. It is recommended that similar activities be held regularly and accompanied by collaboration between schools, communities, and the government to strengthen waste management efforts and global warming mitigation in a broader and more integrated manner.

Abstract

In the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era, there is a great need for quality human resources who at least have critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity skills. To achieve this, grouping is needed to determine the interests and talents of early childhood students starting from the Kindergarten (TK) level. Exploring the interests and talents of early childhood can be a strategic approach to developing students' potential in the field of information technology. This activity can explore knowledge through creative visual programming activities using ScratchJr. ScratchJr is a visual programming application designed for children aged 5-7 years which is open source. This exploration activity method is packaged in the form of training and presentations which are divided into three stages, namely the Preparation Stage, Implementation, and Final Evaluation. The preparation stage begins with a survey and observation by coming directly to the school to find out what needs and challenges are faced by the teachers at the school in introducing the use of visual programming for students at the Kindergarten level. Then continued by compiling a training module that serves as a guide for participants, especially teachers, so that they can help their students learn Scratch Jr. In addition, there is an evaluation instrument to measure participants' understanding before and after the training ends, and there is an overall participant satisfaction value. The final evaluation results showed that 80.4% of participants were able to accept and utilize the ScratchJr application in creative visual programming activities such as character creation and animation. The use of ScratchJr in student collaborative activities can also provide social skills and develop children's holistic growth, but still accompanied by the student's Supervising Teacher.

Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Bairuha di Balikpapan memiliki lahan seluas 3,4 hektar dengan fasilitas seperti kelas, asrama, lapangan, dan masjid yang menampung 500 santri. Peningkatan jumlah santri menyebabkan keterbatasan fasilitas, termasuk kurangnya ruang terbuka hijau. Pengelola pondok pesantren mengevaluasi masterplan pengembangan secara berkala untuk memenuhi kebutuhan yang terus berkembang dengan acuan capaian yang masih berjalan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berupaya melakukan pendampingan penyusunan masterplan pondok pesantren untuk dokumen acuan pembangunan di masa yang akan datang. Metode kegiatan mencakup diskusi kebutuhan, analisis tapak, dan penyusunan masterplan untuk visualisasi data. Tujuannya mengidentifikasi prioritas, potensi, dan masalah tapak. Dalam rencana pembangunan taman, pemilihan elemen lanskap digunakan sebagai metodologi untuk menentukan jenis tanaman yang akan ditanam, dilanjutkan dengan praktik langsung pembangunan. Pondok pesantren berperan sebagai mitra kegiatan dengan memberikan kontribusi in kind, termasuk dalam penentuan prioritas fasilitas yang akan dibangun. Selain itu, pondok pesantren juga bertindak sebagai pengawas dalam keseluruhan proses kegiatan. Hal ini memastikan bahwa pembangunan taman sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan visi pesantren. Dengan demikian, kolaborasi ini mendukung terciptanya lingkungan yang lebih baik dan fungsional bagi santri dan pengguna lainnya. Pendampingan penyusunan masterplan Pondok Pesantren Bairuha bertujuan mengatasi keterbatasan fasilitas akibat peningkatan santri dengan mengidentifikasi prioritas pengembangan lingkungan yang fungsional dan berkelanjutan. Sehingga kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan potensi Pondok Pesantren sebagai wisata edukasi religi melalui masterplan, taman, dan buku panduan.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, particularly ChatGPT, has opened new opportunities in education, yet many teachers still struggle to integrate it into their teaching practices, especially in remote areas like SMA Negeri 13 Tiakur, Southwest Maluku. Limited digital infrastructure and minimal exposure to recent educational innovations hinder teachers' digital competency development. This community service aimed to enhance teachers' competency in using ChatGPT as a teaching tool through a comprehensive workshop. The activity was conducted on November 17, 2023, using an experiential learning approach with presentation, demonstration, hands-on practice, and reflective discussion methods involving 15 teachers as participants. Evaluation results showed high satisfaction levels (average 3.41 out of 4.0), with 40% of teachers focusing on using ChatGPT for lesson plan development, 33.3% for assessment creation, and 26.7% for teaching material development. The workshop successfully improved teachers' understanding and skills in integrating ChatGPT into their teaching practices, marked by the establishment of a community of practice for program sustainability.

Abstract

The number of formal employment sectors available in Indonesia is very limited so the employment participation rate is not proportional to the available jobs. This causes the unemployment rate to increase, which has an impact on the increase in poverty rates. To encourage economic growth and reduce poverty levels, the government encourages people to work in the self-employed sector. The non-formal sector that is strongly encouraged by the current government is MSMEs. Based on data from the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives, in 2024 the number of micro business ownership and management will be dominated by women at 64%. This figure shows that women have a dual role in addition to being housewives, women also play a role as a booster of the ladder economy.  Therefore, this paper aims to increase women's income as entrepreneurs through several trainings, especially in the fish processing business. The sampling method of this study is a census, where all members of the group of 10 people receive training. This research was conducted for 5 months (July-November 2024). The training and assistance carried out includes 4 (four) types of activities with the following results: (1) MSME actors have been able to make profit and loss statements and cash flow statements, so that business actors can separate business capital and personal finance. (2) MSME actors can explore creative ideas in design so that the appearance of MSME product packaging becomes more attractive. (3) MSME actors already have social media to help market their products, in this case the social media is Instagram (4) The technology that seeks to help MSME actors extend the product expiration period is a retorch machine.

Abstract

Business communication media is currently facing online-based global challenges through digital media. Small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can utilize digital marketplaces (e-commerce) to expand their product sales. MSMEs need to use various promotional methods, such as creative content, videographics, colorful designs, and interesting stories on social media. Awareness of these digital opportunities is important to grow the business and reach a wider market. Digital media, such as websites, Instagram, and Tiktok, can convey information without restrictions on public access.Andalas University plays a role in helping MSMEs in the vicinity, such as in Limau Manis village, Padang, with a focus on oyster mushroom cultivation by the Women Farmers Group (KWT). KWT Tabiang Mandiri, which consists of 77 households, experiences problems with the quality of oyster mushrooms that easily change color and marketing problems. Digital marketing training, including the development of creative content and persuasive messages, is needed to increase the attractiveness of oyster mushroom products in e-commerce, so that products look more prominent and attract the attention of buyers. The first step was carried out in the form of assistance in making a Logo as a Persuasive Message for the KWT Oyster Mushroom Tabiang Mandiri MSME players, which was carried out skillfully and independently by MSME players with the Canva Pro Application. Then optimizing the use of appropriate technology for drying machines that prolong the storage period of Oyster Mushrooms so that they are durable when marketed in online media which requires delivery time to consumers. Abstract

Educational ecotourism activities focused on high school students at the Tarakan Mangrove and Bekantan Conservation Area (KKMB) aim to increase students' awareness and knowledge of the importance of mangrove ecosystems. Through a series of interesting and interactive activities such as educational games and direct observation, participants are invited to understand the important role of mangroves as habitats for various biota, coastal protection, and carbon captured. Evaluation results show that this activity has successfully achieved its objectives. Participants showed high enthusiasm and increased understanding of mangrove ecosystems. The educational materials presented, especially educational games, were considered effective in conveying complex information in an enjoyable way. This activity was able to increase ecological understanding and awareness by 89%. However, there are still some aspects that need to be improved, such as the development of more varied educational materials and the improvement of supporting facilities for activities. Overall, this activity is a good first step in efforts to increase public awareness, especially among the younger generation, about the importance of preserving mangrove ecosystems. This activity can be used as a model for similar environmental education activities in other regions.

Abstract

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a medical condition that affects blood pressure and can lead to complications such as stroke and heart disease. Hypertension is suffered by many people living in coastal areas due to an unhealthy lifestyle and consuming salty fish. To reduce the number of people with hypertension in coastal areas, community service activities related to hypertension management were carried out. The methods used in the community service were problem identification with the Delbecq (non-scoring method) method, data collection through interviews with questionnaires and observations of 70 participants, problem intervention through poster counseling and tension checks, data analysis using univariate analysis. The results of the community service were dominated by 55 women (79%) and middle-aged (45-59 years) 46 people (66%). The results of the questionnaire search showed that as many as 60 people (86%) respondents had heavy physical activity, 39 people (56%) respondents had a good level of knowledge and hypertension management, 42 people (60%) were known to often consume salted fish and 48 people (69%) were found to have hypertension. The high rate of hypertension sufferers in the coastal area of Kampung Melayu is due to the lack of counseling that focuses on dietary management and increasing public awareness about the risk of hypertension related to the consumption of high-sodium foods.

Abstract

The Women's Environmental Care Group (KPPL) of Sumber Jaya and Sejahtera in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, faces challenges in post-harvest handling of fresh products, particularly jackfruit and avocado, which serve as the primary raw materials for their processed goods. Without proper handling techniques, the quality of raw materials declines, affecting the quality of processed products. Therefore, training on Appropriate Technology (TTG) for post-harvest handling is needed to enhance the quality of their processed products. The goal of this initiative is to provide KPPL with knowledge on post-harvest handling so that their processed products can be of higher quality and more competitive. The methods include workshops focused on harvesting, storage, transportation, and packaging of fresh products. Training is conducted through hands-on sessions with KPPL members, involving students as activity supporters. Results indicate improved understanding among KPPL members in proper harvesting and storage techniques, which has led to extended shelf life and better quality of fresh products. Overall, the initiative has successfully raised awareness within KPPL on product quality, marketability, and raw material management for processed products. In conclusion, this TTG training has proven effective in enhancing KPPL’s post-harvest handling quality and improving the competitiveness of their processed products in the market.
